The issue is that they get a big lead and then they feel they should go for the jugular by shooting 3s to bury them. That is a bad formula as they should just stick to what’s working.
That strategy essentially got us lazy as you can see 4 guys sitting on the 3pt line..no movement..and NW is overplaying the pass. We should be going back door.
Add to the fact no one is crashing the boards either anymore.
That is just awful and we have to change it as we can easily beat this team

We play like that garbage in the 2nd half and we'll lose this game. Suddenly, they didn't run the offense. They were taking terrible shots with a lot of shot clock remaining. And Geo, what's with the lazy passing? You allowed 3 of those of which 2 were taken the other way for baskets.

And Ron, geez, make a shot will you????? If you're not making them outside, then drive more to the basket.

Lastly, I really have to question Tez's BB IQ sometimes.

3 things I bet Pike‘s talking about in the locker room.

1. Defense. Was good at the start, fell off a bit.

2. Rebounds, which we need to do much better.

3. Feed the damn post. Move the ball in and out, not just side to side.

Do those things, we win. Don’t do them, we lose.

1st half reminded me of the Los Angeles Clippers. Run the other team off the floor -- only to lose focus and let them back in the game

I have a feel we’ll see a very shortened bench second half. Starting 5 plus JY and cliff only when myles needs a blow. If so, we win going away

By the way, I’ve been watching Geo and RH on defense. They play much better D when the original starting 5 is on the floor..then their energy gets sapped when other guys are in.
Also, neither of those 2 players try to go over the top of a screen to fight through it.
watch Mulcahy, McConnell, or young—much different! Mathis is better also but has a tendency to play D flat footed at times which limits his mobility.

The big three are very awake guys. I think Geo's mindlessness is still on Harper's mind. Distracting.

If I’m northwestern I feel super confident right now.

yep...and the only way that changes is if RU comes out and answers like they did vs Sparty, push it back up to 10 and then play tough D...if Rutgers cannot hit shots out of the gate, I think Northwestern looks solid to win this game

The thing is they did not attempted more than a few 3's after the big lead. They kept turning it over with really bad passes across the face of defenders and travels. They had 5 first half travels after. 4 after they were up 20.
They were playing too fast and trying to force things

Don’t know why we don’t stick with our bread and butter , man d and not jacking up threes . Of course the live ball turnovers didn’t help. That first geo turnover led to a dunk and gave them energy

The 3s aren’t anybody’s strategy. It’s what their D was giving us and instead of moving the ball in and out and running screens and picks to get to the basket, we got lazy and took let them dictate how we played.

Geo drives me crazy with those lazy passes. We see at least one of those every game. He's a damn senior. He knows better. It's the first thing you learn in organized ball and tonight he's done that three times already.

Making outside shots is a curse for us. We don’t sustain defensive intensity and then the shots stop falling and we are lost and panic. It’s happened all season. Think of the Syracuse game.

I know people dont like this however, if NW has an easy layup attempt in the first couple minutes we should foul them hard enough that they have to review it for a flagrant, huddle up, whoever commits the foul tells the guys to wake the fcck up and roll

JU hit a trey to go up 20. Celebration was excessive. They thought game was over. How did that work out?
