Weeks is correct. For months several people here said we would be seeing a significant uptick in distribution of the vaccines. The vaccine is not the problem. The problem is people don’t know squat about distributing it in mass. We need people to administer and places . 7 days per week around the clock . Do you think Phil and Judy can figure it out by themselves ? In the military during shot time we did thousands weekly . The military is more than capable to supply medical staff to administer the vaccines. How about the old Fort Monmouth facility, Ft. Dix,Maguire . It’s not that difficult just use some common sense Murphy.

Would those facilities require the federal government to run the vaccine program there? Could a governor commander a military base?

Nope, just not enough to turn the bastard out.
We don’t want him turned

I’m sure tom1944 it would be similar to when the first surge which required the help from military personnel. I don’t believe states would care as long as the help came. They would be glad to have the federal government run this particular inoculation program but it would be the prudent thing as we see the failure to have any true semblance of how to get people in for the first dosage. If they used the National Guard / Reservists it would come under the states but in today’s world some just want to be in charge.

Question for those that might know. One concern I have is that the State/Government can potentially 'run out' of a second dose for those that already received the first dose? Is that a real concern at all? Scheduled to get my first dose tomorrow!

IMHO real concern but not guaranteed.

Stupid question:

Is the 2nd dose the same as the 1st dose?
It's all the same chemical just given twice?

That’s the point people should be hesitant since it is a new vaccine but by the same token people should realize the chances of dying from the vaccine is less than contracting the virus itself. This has been this way since the 1960’s . People spread misinformation and don’t qualify the facts as they actually are. If these same folks lived in China or Russia and said,” I’m not taking that shot”. I guarantee that within minutes that shot would be in their system.

People are rushing to get the vaccine if not we wouldn’t have a problem getting an appointment. The supply is not the issue it’s in the district phase.
There are no vaccine supply available at the state. Almost impossible to get on any list. The town is only giving 300 vaccines one day a week, because that’s there only supply. Counties all full up as well as Shop rites. At this point, you need to know someone or just get lucky calling up at the right time at the right day. Murphy on TV yesterday said the state distributed all of the vaccine to the points of distribution with the exception of the LTC which CVS and Walgreens has a contract with Federal government.

The facts are as you say . Today Murphy will tout the increasing number of positive cases and the effort his administration has made to get people vaccinated during this current surge in the virus. He will tell us the federal government has failed but better days are ahead. He will defend against the negative press regarding vaccinating smokers over teachers. He will then tell us to “ hang in there”. Where else are we going Phil ? We either make it by doing what can be done to protect ourselves or we possibly become one of your statists on a graph. I had another phone call this morning from our Health Dept. expressing their chagrin over the lack of supply and inability to do what has to be done. This administrator also said moving smokers ahead of the most impacted is wrong. She also claimed current rhetoric by the press and leadership has done us more harm than good. The issue is the public still is being hoodwinked as it will be April -May or later for many of groups ABC etc. Those that claim we are going to have a normal summer and fall 2021...Don’t hold your breath.

Why only 300 doses for 1 day a week for a town of over 50,000? I think they have the points of distribution ready. I almost got my shot but they wanted proof ( paystub) of working at my nephew medical office. No mention of proof on the site and by the time I tried to schedule another appointment, the site was down. They probably get around to me in March or April.

The National Stockpile is empty. Just great.

Vaccine reserves promised by Trump officials simply aren’t there—and states are left to deal with the chaos

I would think the vaccine process will be slowed down since some more of the vaccines need to be saved as second vaccine for the original group. 31 million distributed to the state and 13 million administered. A significant portion of the balance might need to used as second vaccine.

Don’t worry our science posters said all is good on the vaccine front . Phil claims it’s a “ false narrative “ smokers need to be on this 1A list since it’s an addiction. I guess druggies and alkies are up next. The Round Mound of Rebound says rich pro athletes should be in the first groups. Frida‘s Boss wonders why I ‘m not a believer in half the posts . Yeah it’s me.

Trump lied about production. Biden is calling Defense Production Act for the vaccine.

A nursing home in Auburn,NY reported that they had no COVID deaths until they started the vaccinations. Now they have 24.

There's a report in the Post that 23 died in Norway after getting Pfizer's version, only 13 of them in nursing homes.

Googled that outbreak and found this”

>the nursing home’s COVID-19 outbreak predated the vaccinations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says the COVID-19 vaccine does not infect patients with the disease, but those who may have contracted COVID-19 before they are vaccinated can become ill after a vaccination because it takes a few weeks for the body to build immunity.<

If I am eligible for Phase 1B due to a pre-existing condition but my wife is not eligible, can she get they vaccine when I do or does she have to wait until Phase 1C?

As we answered the other day with most vaccines it takes perhaps several months for antibodies to be established. At least Sanje Gupta says so.😁

Ain’t happening in 8 days. No way in hell. Would you trust the vaccine ( 1st dose) from being say 80% effective within that period of time ? Please be our guest.
Against a virus with a 99.9% recovery rate, yes I would trust.
