Good they should! I have a set of these that I just took of my mom's car last year and kept them.
The ones we have currently are so bland and ugly when you travel and see what other states have. But that also describes NJ for you.

Keep these and make them reflective again.

Wasn't it Byrne who got the plate changed to blue because it was his daughter's favorite color ? I kept one as a souvenir. Originally on my first car, a '74 AMC Gremlin back in '82. I kept transferring it from car to car over the years, decades actually

DJ, I agree 100 percent with you. Right now, everyone in Trenton should be focused on getting bulldozers in the ground by March for our new indoor football practice facility!!!

How will I know ahead of time if it is going to be someone really old driving if everyone has blue plates?

Glad to see our legislators focusing on such crucial issues facing this state!

Embarrassingly stupid response. State legislators shouldn't be looking at ways to increase revenue?

As for me, I'd like a red license plate to honor the State University of NJ.

Embarrassingly stupid response. Look for more ways ? You're kidding right ? The more money they rob from us the more they waste .

Suggesting that government can't do more than one thing at a time just shows that you don't even understand how government works. That's the embarrassing part.

I thought the blue plates looked outdated by 1990. The sand fade wss much better and vaguely tied in with the state's best attribute. Should update to something new if they feel compelled to change.

Y'all got a long way to go to catch up to the smart aesthetics in the Intermountain West.

New Jersey started issuing license plates in 1908 although they go back to around 1903. At the start, they were yearly requirements and each year the plates were the colors of the state's colleges and universities. Orange and black for Princeton in 1910; dark blue and yellow for Trenton State (i.e. The College of New Jersey) in 1911. The Rutgers colors were suppose to be in 1912 but wound up Stevens' colors of red and gray. Apparently, Rutgers used scarlet with the black a lot back then. The state required at least one color to be "light" for purposes of contrast so Rutgers school colors were bypassed.

School colors were in use for large periods of the 20th century. When Brendan Bryne (Princeton '49) became Governor, he changed the license plates back to blue and orange for his alma mater.

The January 11, 1936 Targum mentioned that Edward Simpson, Rutgers ’37, had vanity plates, “He drives proudly around the campus sporting the tags marked ‘R-1937’ … the only fly in the ointment is that although lettered as Rutgers plates, they are painted orange and black, Princeton’s colors.”

I never understood why NY didn't stick with the design with the Statue of Liberty in the middle. That was iconic.

They can do more then one thing at a time. I never said they couldn't. Plenty of times in our nations history they have screwed up multiple things at the same time. Now go back to school and learn how to read a sentence.

Hahaha ...the plastic bag issue. Another big loss, right @bac2therac

Not a good year for a certain small and embarrassing NJ demo.
Are you out from under your bed again ?
P.S. My family and I and about 18 friends are going to Gettysburg this weekend for remembrance day ceremonies to honor the men who fought in the battle. We rented 2 houses on Baltimore Street. I would ask you to come but your mommy and daddy would chain you under your bed to keep you home and not only that I know you commies despise the military.

Suggest you look in the mirror and re-read your post.

Hint: They should be looking for ways to cut size and expenses.

Suggest government can do anything well is another reason for you to be embarrassed.
