Isn’t it amazing how the next game becomes the most important of the season every time!
You can pick you’re own reason and I’m sure you’ll arrive at “Maryland is the most important game of the year”
No predictions, I never do that.

stakes are high for this game. If RU wins, it gives them a feather in their cap road win which solves any resume issues at this point.

#195 in tempo plays #214. #6 in D plays #21.

I am thinking most of these predicted scores are way too high.

I agree FIG. We give up about 60 ppg, and MD only gives up about 62 ppg. So I would venture a guess that this game will be in the low 60s at best.

MD is not a team like Iowa that will score 80+ on a regular basis. They average about 72 ppg, and they average just shy of 32% from 3-pt range. They’ve had several “off” nights where their offense struggles and only scores in the 50s.

Interesting thing about MD - I looked at all of their B1G game box scores, and Anthony Cowan or Jalen Smith have led them in scoring in EVERY GAME (and they’re almost always 1-2), with Wiggins or Morsell occasionally being #2. So unlike us, they have CLEAR go-to guys.

This is easier said than done, but contain one of them, and odds are much better that we win this game. We just have to hope that one of them doesn’t “go off”. This is a tall order on the road, and I think our offensive funk continues against a very good defense.

MD 64
RU 60

I think they embarrass us and that its never really a game. 80-64. I like pikes ability to motivate and get the guys to play hard but he really needs to improve x’s and o’s wise.

Id love to see us start running a half court offense with simple floppy action like this. Its so simple to implement and our guys know how to run it

If Wisconsin can beat Maryland, so can we.

Big Ten Team Stats shows..

Maryland takes a lot of 3s.. their overall percentage is not high.. but their guards take a lot of 3s.. and when F Jalen Smith takes them he hits slightly over 40%.. but doesn't take that many.

So I'l sat REBOUNDING the 3pt shots is key.. and defending Smith from 3.

There is no statistic where Maryland has a significant advantage over Rutgers except free throw percentage.

G Anthony Cowan takes a LOT OF FREE THROWS and hits them. As a team they are shooting .736 to out .645.. I think they would love to see a lot of foul calls in the game.

BTW.. while looking this up I saw that Michigan is in the bottom 4 for FT attempts in the Big Ten, 331 FTs on the season to our 403 FTA.. yet they shot nearly 5 times the number of FTs at MSG.

PREDICTION: Rutgers 68 Maryland 65.. but Maryland at 12-0 at home worries me... but Illinois was within a point at Maryland and I think Rutgers (playing well) is every bit as good as Illinois. A win is far from impossible.
