Spellbound Pumpkin Ale is very good. 8.1 abv, easy to get down but does not taste like pumpkin juice.

So sad news for Paulaner Oktoberfast Wisen fans. Distribution/import issues not only delayed the arrival to the US but also cut back amount, dramatically. I was originally alloted 20 cases, 10 each in consecutive weeks. We heard there were issues and would see a cut in allotment. However this past Friday, in a very big delivery, there was 1 case. Just 1. With none expected this week.
And yes that 1 case is secured in my house. Some of it will see Rutgers game against Buffalo in the 22nd, the official start if Oktoberfest

Scarlet Walk east side. Look for a big dog and a guy drinking a bottle and holding another. But don't tell anyone. [cheers]

My local Store finally got some Ayinger Oktoberfest but told me no Paulaner Wiesn and not sure if they will get it in the near future.:cry::cry::cry:

From what I gathered this weekend, no one in Central and South Jersey were ever going to get any as it wasn't in there sales book from their wholesalers which usually comes out in July. Same for the Capital Region of NY. Sometimes that is the wholesalers choice.
Anyway there is plenty of Hofbrau Oktoberfest around. But not many of the 5 liter mini kegs. And only in NJ. The Philly wholesalers passed. So I got mine at Joe Canals in Lawrenceville. Bought 4 of them to make up for the Paulaner shortage.

I got a 5L mini as I always do every year. Damn good.

So I went to Icarus Brewery in Lakewood about a week or so ago. Picked up some Yacht Juice and Go Flight both are tremendous. The place was packed. Tried a flight of some of there other beers and all of them were good. I've been on a NJ beer kick lately and Icarus is by far the best I have tried, just wish it was easier to get.

Had two pilsners this weekend. One I have had before, one is brand new.
The first was Heavy Seas Pounder Pils. Its just ok but the view sitting waterfront at Pussers on Annapolis Harbour made it just a bit better.
The next one tailgating was Victory's Hip Czech pilsner. Awesome.

Victory nails the German styles. Their Prima Pils is fantastic. I'm on the hunt for Rum BA Pumking. FW created a new Rum BA Barleywine called Dark & Stormy.

Not a big fan of dry hopped pilsner like Prima simply because if I want a IPA flavor I just have an IPA. Similar to Home Grown Lager. Very good beers but ...
And don't screw up Saturday. First day of Oktoberfest. No stouts or barrell aged crap lol [cheers]

Lawrence, KS beers were pretty weak (Lawrence Beer Co: Afternoon Delight Grapefruit Radler, Fly Over Stout and some others; Free State Brewing: Oatmeal Stout and some others). Boulevard in KC was good: Manhattan Cask Imperial Stout & TEST - Milk Stout with Coconut and Hazelnut.

Boiler Brewing in Lincoln, NE was awesome. Bour-ben German Chocolate Cake Batter was 1 of the best beers I've ever had. Heaven Hill Barrel Aged White Stout and Barrel Aged Hayseed Barleywine were nearly just as good. You Got Peanut Butter in My Chocolate, Joe Porter & Coconut Coup were all good.

Tallgrass Brewing I hear is solid, but yeah, KS is a weak craft beer state overall. I would've just hit liquor stores to try to score some Midwest gems like Toppling Goliath or Prairie or Perennial.

Yeah. Forgot to mention that Boiler Brewing Heaven Hill Barrel Aged White Stout was also nearly as good.

9:30am @wisr01, Scarlet Walk. East side. Paulaner Wiesn. No excuses. [cheers]
Away from me Satan...LOL, I have to work and won't be at the game. But you sure are tempting me to say I can't be there just for a taste of that goodness.

Hello Bill, sorry I am running a fever and have been up vomiting all night. Can't make it in today. A few hours later I am spotted on the Scarlet Walk with a Paulaner Wiesn. Would be worth it though. BTW we still have none here in NNJ. NONE!!!!

I've been making my own simple shandies most of the summer with either PBR or Narrangansett, ice and a squeeze of lemon, been wanting to try the same with an IPA and some grapefruit. Finally put one together last night with 077xx. But it was meh.

Try pineapple or mango instead. They pair with IPA's much better.

Can't get enough Kane Morning Bell
Did you get to try the vanilla bean morning bell when it was on tap at the brewery?

Just Drank a bottle of A Night to End All Dawns 2017. Unreal. They absolutely kill BA stouts and porters.

Patiently awaiting Sunday Brunch and Mexican Brunch

Kane is the best.

I missed the vanilla bean morning bell. Hoping it comes back.

I have the new ANTEAD but haven't tried it yet. Last versions were awesome.

I'm surprised neither brunch has been released yet.

Went out of my way to score some Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen on draft late last week, had a few. Then ended up at a bar the following day to meet friends and they randomly had it on draft. Needless to say I had my fill for the season.

Probably going up to Portland Maine and then Boston next week.

I know Allagash and Shipyard but what other breweries should I definitely hit up in Portland?

Will try to go to Trillium in Boston in the seaport area.

The Bronx Brewery variety 12 pack (8 different craft brews in cans if you buy the two 12-packs).

They range form 4.3% to 10.1% alcohol content, but don't lose their great taste even at 10.1%
