So has anyone listened to WFAN the last couple of days? I mean, typically, the guy who goes on at 1 PM throughout his career has really said a negative word about his fellow paisons, especially those born and raised in New York City or Long Island, so I'm curious as to what he said about this whole situation.
As I posted earlier, pitino will write a book. Claim innocence, and the FAN will have him on and kiss his behind. Because he wins.
Before I claim anything I'll wait and see if enough evidence can be found against the big dogs to prove they were a part or had knowledge.
Too often the lesser players, like assistants, are the ones that take the fall while their bosses walk away scott free because there wasn't enough evidence to prove they were apart of it.
Not saying Pitino and Jurich weren't part of this mess or they didn't know what was going on and turned a blind eye towards it, just thinking there might not be enough proof to tie them into this fully and they can claim they didn't know and keep from being charged.
Louie probably will fire them for cause soon, but could be open to a lawsuit if Pitino and Jurich aren't charged with a crime or named as unindicted co-conspirators

He broke rules, he's got a repeated track record of this kind of stuff so taking him down is fine with me but somehow or another I don't have the disgust for him that most do here. Maybe it's because I don't know crap about recruiting even though I have the surface awareness that all this stuff goes on. I'm not sure.
Who I'd really like to see go down is Calipari and I'm surprised that so far he seems to have bypassed the first wave. I'm just hoping future waves get him. He's someone that I find sleazy. Didn't he have a guy named worldwide wes or something at one time to do all this dirty work for him.
Alongside him then the "high brow" blue bloods like UNC/Duke but that'll be the day something actually happens to them. On some level I find the Calipari/Pitinos like the "blue collar" criminals so to speak where the UNC/Dukes are the "white collar" guys who as typical many times get off scot free or get maybe a slap on the wrist at most. The day you bring those guys down is the day that'll really be something but I don't ever expect it to happen.
I would have this train of thought if it was the NCAA investigating. But the FBI? This has probably been investigated for two years now. You know how they operate, they keep letting you do it until they can get the truly big fish. Then they have so much evidence accumulated that if they couldn't get the big fish during their investigation they have enough to turn someone. I doubt anyone of these guys knew they were being wire tapped as that's not in the NCAA's wheel house. They are all toast.

Cal and Pitino are the kings of sleaze. car will get his. This "one and done ****," for example, needs to end now, I've been saying it for years so hopefully things start to change.

The ACC has 15 members for basketball. How harmful is it to the conference if UL got the death penalty? It's not like the SWC losing a football school, and penalizing SMU's opponent with no TV for that game. It should at least be considered here if it can be proven that the Athletic Department knew this was going on.
They could have fired Pitino to save face, and Jurich stood by him and was fired also.
I am so happy that Steve Pikiell is our head coach. Pitino has dodged or escaped punishments in the past. U of L was playing "win at any cost".
They rode the coattails of two of the dirtiest coaches in college sports from the cellars of Conference USA, to the mediocre Big East, all the way to the ACC and a MBB title (vacated?).

Kinda wonder if any scrutiny will come upon former Pitino assistants like Cronin, Willard, Masiello, his son Richard and whomever else I'm forgetting. They may or may not have ever done anything but you know there's always some sort of guilt by association that has the potential to tarnish.
I believe the FBI investigation only goes back to 2015 so anyone who worked for Pitino but left before 2015 won't have to worry too much about the investigation of Louisville.
I agree that their time at Louisville is likely not going to come into question, it's more while they were assistants at Louisville did they do these kind of things or were they aware of these kind of things going on and now as HCs are they doing similar in their own programs.
My thinking is that IF any of these guys who were arrested actually start to talk and the rabbit hole deepens and the network of people involved widens logically you think assistants who have been associated with Louisville/Pitino could be doing the same things with their current programs. It's not so much their time at Louisville but more of a "learning if you will" of the type of tactics used by the program and have they done the same at their current programs possibly with the same people or associates. I don't know.
Sounds like Pitino is coach 2 in the documents according to CBS. Coach 2 spoke with the Adidas executive about getting the player's family more money. Doesn't sound like he kept that layer between himself and others and might not have plausible deniability anymore. Not sure if there's any criminality as they didn't charge him knowing this but I'm sure it could affect his buyout if any and the harshness of Louisville penalties if the HC is directly involved.
