That's funny. I'm having the same debate about jinxing Montgomery because I want to pick him up in my SWAP league for tomorrow. Still not sure what to do, lol.

Gregorius started minor league rehab assignment and Sanchez now throwing and swinging without pain. 2 big bats coming back to the lineup in May.

Their replacements Romine and Torreyes have done an outstanding job. The Yankees lineup is just as strong with the way those two have been playing.

Tough loss....tough losing 2 of 3 to the Pirates.
We could have won all three games. Oh well. On to Boston.
BTW, I absolutely hate the idea of pitchers batting. What a joke. When will the National League wake up ?

It's the way the game has been played for over a 100 years, please stop. It has cheapen the game ever since Ron Blomberg stepped into the box!!!

Every league uses the DH except the NL, even the NL teams in the minors use the DH. So who's right the 95% of the rest of baseball or the one lone holdout. The biggest reason the NL doesn't go to the DH is because they are cheap and they don't want to pay for another hitter.

You do know the reason the AL went to the DH don't you? They were behind the NL in popularity and were desperate to keep fan interest, and were loaded with aging star players. They didn't have the patience to wait out the normal turnover in talent between the leagues and panicked and came up with the gimmick called the DH. Would someone please tell me if I'm way off base on that?

What I always found weird about this was, the pitching prospects in NL minor leagues have the bat taken out of their hands, and when they get to the majors, somehow, they are expected to know how to hit. I PREFER the DH due to the fact that I don't agree with the easy out with a pitcher hitting. Having said that, if the NL wants to let the pitchers hit, so be it, but don't understand why they wouldn't let their prospects develop ALL the tools they would need once they reach the majors; this includes batting.

There is a whole lot more strategy in the NL due to the pitcher hitting. Sometimes decision are made based on where the pitcher hits in an inning or two. Plus the possible double swith is an NL thing only.

Im guessing the young generation wants all DH as they don't appreciate the strategy side. Longtime Yankee fan so Im completely ok with the DH but still enjoy the NL rule. My only problem is when there is interleague games. The advantage for the home team is way off balance.

I agree with this, but think the advantage is MUCH greater to the NL teams. In an AL home game, you are asking the NL team to come up with another guy in the dugout that can hit. Conversely in a NL park, you are asking that the opponent find a pitcher that can hit. LMAO, not quite the same thing.

I know what your saying but two things where the NL suffers is their DH is usually a bench player not the high paid swinging, non fielding hitter the AL team has. Plus although most NL pitchers don't knock the cover off the ball they are still used to going up to the plate and they all can put down a bunt. AL pitchers cant do anything.

You would probably have said the same thing about the forward pass when it was introduced into football, the three-point shot when it came in to basketball, and helmets when they were made mandatory in the NHL. Things change. And I don't hear many people calling for the DH to be eliminated.

So to recap: A win against Boston. Judge (Happy 25th Birthday!!!) HR plus a great catch as he falls into the stands. Bird with an RBI single. Severino dominant over 7. Betances shuts them down in the 8th and Chapman wiggles out of trouble in the 9th. Besides a cleaner 9th inning what more could you want as a Yankee fan? Great win. Also looks like Didi will be back friday or saturday, and Sanchez is not too far behind.

Not that I think Sanchez shouldn't start but Romine calls a great game.

Chapman seemed REALLY uncomfortable last night. It will be interesting to see if he comes in tonight and if he does, how he looks.

What else we could want is for Holliday, Gardner, and Bird to start hitting.

Didi back tomorrow. Sanchez starts rehab assignment on Monday. He should be back by next Monday at the latest.

Edit: Sanchez rehab assignment starts Tuesday with AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

This team is interesting to watch and already exceeding expectations. I can't wait until the next gen. of players comes up at the end of this year or next. Once we add a high quality SP, watch out.

Great job by the Yankees scratching a run across against Sale who is absolutely dominant.

I think you get Harper and then a pitcher. Harper/Machado/pitcher will cost 100 million dollars a year.

Not a fan of Harper. He needs to be "The man". Let him go to the Mets and cause clubhouse problems there.

Wow. Tanaka was freaking awesome. Only his 2nd complete game shut out. Just 3 hits. No walks! No one ever warmed up in the bullpen. Out pitches Chris Sales. SWEEP! OK just a 2 game series. But two dominant wins.
And the more I watch this team Ill repeat. Romine calls and catches a great game. And the other fill in player Torreyes hitting is a bonus but that dude can flat out play shortstop.
Go Yanks!

Actually, they showed Chapman warming up in the pen early in the ninth.
Great win.....great two days in Beantown. That's gotta be the fewest "Yankees Suck" chants I've ever heard from the Boston fans in a series.
Great time to be a Yankees fan.

Missed that and thankfully they didnt need him. I think he was under the weather last night. Got the save but he was struggling and looked very stressed. But a great game to watch and a big win!

That's just a magnificent win for the Yankees. Beating the Red Sox with their ace on the mound at Fenway should finally turn anyone who doesn't think the Yankees are legit. Big series starting tomorrow with the first place Oriole's at the Stadium. Didi will make his season debut.

The only real MLB team in the area plays tonight on the YES Network, your NY Yankees.
Idiot, were you saying that the last 2 years? The main reason Yankee fans are so easy to hate. It's a long season, the worm can turn in a heartbeat. We shall see.Nice win tonight for the Yanks, enjoy that, but no, you have to take a swipe at the Mets. These things always seem to work themselves out.Still feel the Mets will have a better season.

Lol - The Mets have so many injuries right now, how can anyone say anything about the quality of their team? Personally, I think they blew it by not going all in when they had a chance to upgrade their offense. Leveraging at least one of their young SP, would have gotten them a more balanced team that would be able to absorb what's happening to them now.
Their window is shrinking. Every year that goes by is another year where their SP get closer to free agency and you know damn well they are too cheap to consider signing most of them. If you're a Yankee fan who enjoys Mets misery (I personally don't care) I think you'll be pretty happy in the near future when they botch their chance at a World Series title.
