ah yes...the 1976 story....the kid that got assaulted by Jerry at a football camp.....doesn't tell a family member, friend, teacher, guidance counselor, healthcare worker, the ice cream man....but no.....he saw Joe Paterno in the hallway....chased him down...and was like...hey coach....Jerry assaulted me!!!.....of course, Joe Pa was like....huh?...beat it kid...I got a football season to run......then, after having this knowledge of Jerry being sexual predator....screw calling the police.....let me promote him to D Coordinator....watch him start a state-wide charity to help disadvantaged boys....allow my own kids (and later grand-kids) to hang out at the Sandusky house for b-day parties....all to win some football games....awful

gotta admit..that was good story

87 & 88?....you're referring to the Schiano, Tom Bradley, & Kevin O'Dea accusations?....nothing to do with JoePa....but let's discuss for fun.....welp, Schiano & Bradley deny the accusations of being aware of any misconduct...but they're probably lying....not sure how they're still working....they should be fired...or in jail because...you know...they were accused of knowing and not doing anything about it....it was in a deposition.....sooo, it must be true.

then there's good ole Kevin O'Dea (Saints assistant coach).....effin a*shole denies it too....he was accused of seeing Sandusky rubbing a boy's back while the boy was lying on a couch in his underwear in 1988......forget the fact he was coaching at U of Virginia at the time, and didn't come to PSU till 1991...but eff that.....it was in a deposition.......it must be true.....liars all of em.

If Schiano, Bradley, or O'Dea (again...I don't care if he wasn't even at PSU at the time of the accusation) actually reported what they knew....none of this would've happened.

i'm outraged as you are.

I have a horrible feeling that we will be hearing about the horrendous damage that Sandusky and those who enabled him (and yes, Paterno is ground zero for this) will continue for years and years. Heartbreaking!

So your position is that Paterno was not aware of the Sandusky allegations and that he did all he could possibly have done morally to ensure that this never happened again? Whether it was 1976 or 1987 or whenever MM confronted him, I honestly cannot fathom how intelligent people can possibly believe that this man - who ran the campus - was not aware at some point about what was going on. Arguing about what year he actually knew is just splitting hairs. And considering how little Paterno did about it, if you do accept that he knew, then I have no clue how you feel anything other than pure contempt and disgust for him. The man was a piece of scum.

It's a fair argument with the MM situation in 01. But if you believe the '76 story, I got a bridge to sell ya.

What about schiano and Bradley? Believe them or should they rot in hell? How about O'Dea? Did he see Sandusky molesting a boy from Charlottesville?

If one story's full of ****, and you believe schiano and Bradley, why is the 76 story so believable?

Hey, I wasn't there. Maybe it's all true. Just doesn't make any sense. But whatever...hate on

I don't care when he knew. The point is that he knew at some point and did nothing about it. The PSU cult spends too much time arguing each specific instance but largely ignores the fact that he had to have known at some point. Unless you truly believe that every story is false (and I don't know how that is possible), then what is the difference? Once you accept that he knew, then you must also acknowledge that he failed all of those children who were molested as a result of the fact that he chose to look the other way to protect his own interests. It's not that complicated and doesn't need to be dissected to the level you are trying to take it. You either believe he knew or you don't. If you believe he knew, then end of story. If you believe he didn't know, then you are part of the problem.

Of course they're going to deny it. Sandusky denied it, but I guess you believe him too?

That's why it's called a cover-up. Because people knew about it, and denied it.

And yes, I do believe at the very least, Schiano knew others were talking about it while he was coaching at PSU.

I wonder if this kid was molested by his own father. What a tragic story.

Come on RU31trap, you are forgetting about the REAL victims here, you know, the Penn State football players and fan base that have been forced to listen to this nonsense since the Sandusky scandal began. They are the true victims. We Are ... !!!!

Creep State......nobody knew nothing. Oh yeah, this is all so normal...nothing creep here....second mile, suicide attempts, kids at the games, rumors swirling, how could Joe Pa and the gang have known anything

"Matt Sandusky went to live with Sandusky and his wife as a foster child and was adopted by them as an adult. He is one of Jerry Sandusky's six adopted children.....

Around the same time, details emerged that Matt Sandusky had attempted suicide just four months after first going to live with the couple in 1995. He had come into the home through The Second Mile.

During testimony last week, an accuser known as Victim 4 said Matt Sandusky was living at the Sandusky home at the time he stayed there overnight and testified that Jerry Sandusky came into the shower with the two boys and "started pumping his hand full of soap." Matt Sandusky shut off the shower and left, appearing nervous, the witness said.

On Friday, three of Matt Sandusky's siblings, Jeffrey Sandusky, Jon Sandusky and Kara Werner were in court with their parents."

Take it easy. Of course he knew. Mcqueary told him. Then Joe reported it. Everyone knows this. Undisputed facts

Mcqueary also told his dad and Dr David dranov. Obviously we all know what they said about the incident under oath.....

Anywho.....Jeffrey Sandusky gets busted.... clearly Paterno's fault. And I'm the cultist.,lol

Jeffery Sandusky grew up around people that put the Penn St football program above everything and if his perverted adopted father molested him, you can bet Jeffery felt no one would help him.
Reading what the cult of joe are claiming and how they defend what can not and/or should not be defended , we can see how easily it was for the Penn St leadership ( from the 70s on) to cover up for the pervert they kept part of their football program as a coach then honored him after he retired with Coach Emeritus status .
Jeffery Sandusky must have seen the twisted logic surrounding Penn St football and that helped twist his mind , making him into a pervert as well

Exaggerated so much that the court allowed all of it as testimony or evidence in the Sandusky case and then had it unsealed so it could be used in the insurance case against the school. Outrageous! Fake news! Only positive stories are true!

The 1976 story makes perfect sense. He approached a figure of authority he believed he could trust. Said authority figure scorns him. Kid probably felt the other adults in his life would react the same way and internalized the event. In many ways Paterno's rebuff is as cruel as Sandusky's actions. But hey, let's not let that get in the way of putting the Paterno statue back up, I mean that all that really matters, right.

your interpretation makes total sense.....though you ignored why on god's green earth paterno kept him around, promoted him, supported him starting his charity, allowed his entire family attend social functions at the Sandusky household for many many many years......makes total sense.

Or maybe....just maybe....the story isn't true....lol

hey the dude took a shot, conjured up this story....PSU paid him w/zero vetting cause their a bunch of p*ssies and wanted all this to be done with.

my version plausible, no?

nah, my bad...Paterno just liked having a pedo as his right hand man. allowing his family to hang out at Jer's house was just to keep up the elaborate rouse.

I think the entire situation is sad and frankly disgusting. I'm sure there's much more to the story. An adult who rapes an underaged child and commits sodomy should be sentenced to life in prison and also undergo partial castration. At the turn of the 20th century it was widely practiced and according to archived programmatic reports it actually worked.

lol...evidence?...yeah, there wasn't any evidence...unless you know something i don't. he said he got fingered by Jerry in a shower (not Jerry's m.o....but whatever). he said all the kids in the shower heard him scream.....but not 1 person has come forward to corroborate his story or to confirm they were even in the shower with him during said event. Jerry groomed his victims, over time...and made his moves with nobody around. he didn't assault kids he didn't know while other people were around. but not to say it couldn't have happened....who knows....maybe he refined his methods later on....i have no clue.

not sure you know how a deposition works...but no matter. instead of dealing with the hassle of vetting or going to court/cross examining to challenge said allegations...PSU paid the dude off in efforts of expediency. then PSU was foolish to file a claim to get reimbursed, and the insurance company was like.....eh, eff you.

that's a lot of exclamation points. dude, if the story's believable to you....cool man. the victim told the story in 2014, when most of the mess was over. PSU was like...fine, here's some cash.....I imagine they didn't want to deal with more headlines challenging a potential victim (though, it clearly backfired since this got in the news anyway....they paid him off, so it must be true!...lol). obviously Sandusky ain't gonna confess to it, nobody has come forward and has said...oh yeah, i was in the shower that day when Jerry just randomly stuck a finger in the boy....maybe if it went to court, maybe someone would've came forward (who knows)......The only other person involved in the story was dead.

i'm surprised he didn't say Paterno raped em himself. think of the headlines.....you guys would be drooling like pavlov's dog

again...crazy story....and nothing to do with MM situation and everything else. all that's fair game. but the '76 story is a bunch of malarkey. I know...I'm a cultist because I can poke a ton of holes in this ridiculous story.......but i understand the motive to believing the story from your perspective.....all PSU/Paterno=bad.

I don't think anyone can attach this with anything at Penn State itself.

BUT, it is getting more and more clear to me that Sandusky was, quite noticeably, deviant. I don't for one second believe that his behavior was concealed; he is sick, and I'm not sure he knew how much so.

Of course it was concealed. Do some reading on these animals. They can be masters of deception and manipulation, of both kids and adults in the community. And they are everywhere, which is why writing Sandusky off as the result of a "culture problem" at Penn State always has been and still is a dangerous way to view the situation.

The grooming has less to do with concealment, but with gaining trust from the victims.

You make him sound like some cold-war era KGB superspy.

This guy did his stuff fairly in the open and left a crumb trail that would make cookie monster blush. But no one had the guts to put the pieces together because doing so would create a picture no one wanted to see.

So many folks either simply looked away or created some sort of plausible denial construct in their heads.

Put simply: Sandusky was a sick & twisted, real-life adaptation of The Emperor's New Clothes...

Take a wild guess.

Jerry and Dottie had 6 adopted children. We already knew about his son Matt being molested by Jerry. Here's #2.
very sad, we will never know of the ultimate damage that this monster created.

can only hope that when he dies, he spends eternity next to Paterno in hell.

So out in the open that the state of Pennsylvania continued to allow him to adopt children and be intimately involved with a charity for at-risk youth without picking up on any of his odd personality/behavioral traits. Again, do some reading on these offenders (or just take a look at the Michigan State situation, to start).

It's a sad situation. There's a good chance someone in your neighborhood or city, possibly even someone you know or are acquainted with, is committing awful crimes; believing Sandusky's were out there for the world to see, and everyone just chose to do nothing, is burying your head in the sand to that fact. And if an average Joe can hide his issues, consider how much easier that might be for a renowned and respected children's advocate like Sandusky or doctor like Nassar.

Vegas: I don't disagree that there are creeps everywhere, but in this particular case, I find the evidence rather compelling.

Even some on the PSU board speculate that the child trafficking ring might not end with "Jer" and that he's just the tip of the iceberg. The rot might go far up the chain (government officials, law enforcement, etc.) that everyone simply wants to make this disappear at this point.

A lot of pieces had to be in place in order for him to do his thing for so long -- too many pieces for it all to be simple coincidence.

Ever hear of Occam's Razor..?

But you can put your head in the sand if you want.

The fact that they paid the 1976 victim is prima facia evidence that they knew Joe's denials would never have stood up in court. Joe's denials were about as credible as OJ's.

Can we have an app that auto types this every time a JoeBot comes on here making excuses, saying it never happened?

Maybe I'm naive not to believe in a child trafficking ring that involves high-ranking members of state government. Is it possible? Sure. But is it likely?

For me, it's far more likely that the combination of Jerry's status, the manipulative behavior of nice-guy offenders, failure by parents and teachers to pick up on Jerry's behavior or dismiss it because of his reputation, administrative errors at PSU and The Second Mile, and shortcomings at various levels of state government combined to form a perfect storm, as opposed to people in various organizations around the state all conspiring to protect Sandusky. He obviously isn't the first person to commit these types of crimes over a long period before being caught.

But you can put your head in the sand if you want.

well....now you're supporting (or simply mentioning) the "tin-foil hat" theory that the Governor Corbett greatly influenced the BOT to direct Freeh to pin everything on the culture of football, scape-goat the 3 stooges and Paterno (though, that was just to justify his firing).....hence, the PSU/BOT didn't fight against the Freeh report at all.....they were like....yyyyep, it's all true...where do we sign. like they didn't effin know about the McQueary situation or the 1998 investigation. but everyone bought it....worked like a charm.

Corbett new about victim 1/Aaron Fisher in 09 (maybe early 2010)....but Corbett (and others) were highly connected to the 2nd Mile (he collected like a half million large in donations from the charity). you bust Sandusky, who was the primary fund-raiser, the face of the 2nd mile....your political donations go belly up. then all of sudden.....Sandusky actually gets busted (or Corbett is aware the news will come out shortly)...practically 2 years after Aaron Fishers mom went to the police.....Corbett, for the 1st time ever, attends a BOT meeting (which he's automatically on since he's the governor)...consequently flys to State College to have an emergency meeting with the BOT shortly before the sh*t hit the fan and threw his weight around.....Louis Freeh came from Corbett's recommendation.

Corbett (and who knows who else) was shaking in his boots....no effin doubt

truly scary stuff....an absolutely polarizing story......the grand cover-up cloaked by the public perceived cover-up.

yeah, the admin didn't do enough....Sandusky's naked with a boy in 98....you tell him not to do it again.....then he freakin does it again in 01????...WTF.......so yeah, I'm in that camp.....but there's sooo much more to this story.......it got buried pretty good though....so don't worry, Rutgers fans....PSU's reputation will never be repaired.

Steve Avery, Amanda Knox, Duke lacrosse ain't got sh*t on this story.

PSUPALY: I'm more inclined to believe the grand coverup theory. That's the only way all the pieces logically fit in my mind.

Joe made a mistake. A big one in retrospect. But I think he honestly believed 1.) Jer had a lapse of judgment that was a one-off type thing and 2.) it wasn't worth deep sixing his entire life's work based on a perceived "oopsie".

I'll buy that he had no clue that Jer was just a pawn in something much more sinister and grander in scale.

And so the powers that be (gov't officials, agencies, law enforcement, etc.) scapegoated Jer & Joe (and to some extent, PSU football) in the hopes that cutting off the hand would save the arm.

agreed on all counts....except the scape-goating part......the scape-goating was of Spanier, Curley & Shultz....and Paterno of course, but I truly think Paterno got thrown in there late...they had to justify his firing when BOT knew he didn't do anything legally wrong. They should've suspended him with pay while the investigation ensued...or something...but anyway, they were hasty there. Spanier was on Corbett's hit list, because Spanier refused to support him politically because Corbett was going slash funding for the school.....he got his payback

for the life of me I can't understand Curley & Shultz. you read their grand jury testimonies when they're both were questioned.....sooo, you knew he was inappropriately alone in a shower with a boy in 98....sure, he was cleared of wrong-doing.....but then does it again in 01?.....and you think telling Jer to stop bringing kids around and reporting it to the 2nd Mile..which Jer IS the 2nd mile....was sufficient??????

so effin frustrating.

as a PSU fan.....I can not wait till those guys finally are able to speak and explain themselves (if that's possible). but hey....i reserve a shred of hope there's a credible explanation from them (not holding my breath) why they acted (or didn't act) the way they did. even if they thought, there's not enough to call the police (McQueary's dad & Dr Dranov both testified as such)....how do you not to report to CYS or DPW (not that they would do much) to at least cover your own ***......I mean...it was the 2nd incident!....effin pisses me off.

no matter what the cult members say , this is the truth :

this might explain why Sandusky wasn't turned in

and something from 1998 when Sandusky was being investigated
