Running game is very good but not as good as it could be because the passing game has been so poor that teams can concentrate on the RB's. QB is one of if not the most inaccurate passer in the P5. It isn't only one issue. Some are bounced. Some way overthrown. Some are 2-3 yards off line and those are on the short throws. He is very good throwing out of bounds tho.
...

He is also one of the best at spiking the ball to stop the clock, especially on 4th down.

They are good. Very good. You couldn't handle them either.
Calm down Spanky, he's just kidding, don't get so defensive. Not every fan base are pricks(psu). We know we're not very good so don't try and tell us what our team is. Worry about your own team.

You know, you really ought to give that a rest. Yes, ultimately, that is on the QB, but when your coaches are all telling you to spike it, and the marker does not read 4th down, that is not ALL on him. But it is piss on the QB day here at SN, so have at it . . . . .

It may not all be on Laviano, but he bears most of the blame.

We start slow for whatever reason which is a death kneel when playing anyone with a pulse.

Strengths: RB

DLINE: is pretty good. The rest of the D lags.

Weakness: QB - we don't have one. OLINE: not agile enough. You can't coach that, you need to recruit it. WR: lack separation

I expect to see Sunday morning headlines: "Iowa gets back on track...."
Stop with this sh*t. Ash addressed the receiver position by putting Harris out there with Grant. Even Martin has gotten into the passing game. There were guys open plenty of times against UNM. Laviano just can't consistently get them the ball. There were several throws against UNM where the receiver was just standing there and Laviano threw it at their feet or too far away for them to make a play. When Laviano rolled out it was even worse. Bottom line Laviano is now the issue since the receivers have been corrected. Just because you keep repeating this line doesn't make it true. Btw, can some explain how Grant can throw a TD pass to Patton who had no trouble catching it over the top of a defender? Maybe the ball was placed where the receiver could catch it and the defender was a step behind.

I posted a picture and a video of his pass in another thread. Can we put Janarion in the Jabu package and make CL a tight end?

Cuff- you know we just have too many self hating fans with no clue of what they are watching each week as this is developing.

My thoughts: Iowa should have no problem beating Rutgers, but the game might be closer than you think. We have big play capability but tend to struggle with the routine ones. The poor attendance and lack of fan support is also hurting the team's ability to get pumped up for home games, so that should help Iowa, too. I'd predict a 31-20 Iowa victory.

Take it easy on the poor attendance; we played Howard and New Mexico. The crowd will be a lot larger next week.

Do I need to bring ear plugs.? Or did they rectify this? I have pretty sensitive ears

Bring ear plugs. It was painful during the pregame on Saturday. You will regret not having something to prevent the sound from hurting your ears unless they finally rectify this problem.

What happened since your post at 5:02 pm last night when you said:

"Iowa is going to destroy us. That's not being "negative" or "trolling," it is reality".

You went from destroying us to 31-20?

My man, do you perhaps have a split personality disorder? In one thread you state Iowa is absolutely going to demolish RU. Than in another, the game might be closer than you think and predict a 31-20 score. Which is it. Are we going to get the sh*t kicked out of us or are we going to play a competitive game. By the way your not very good at predictions with your New Mexico is a lock at +5.5.
Hey, hey, hey, who ya callin' Spanky here?

Yep.
I knew I'd get your attention with that reference as soon as I posted it.[laughing]

I stand by both posts. It's possible to lose by 11 points when the result is never in doubt, i.e. scoring in garbage time. Also, as soon as yesterday's game ended I said that I deserve to eat crow for my New Mexico +5.5 prediction and that I'm happy RU won. Note that my other prediction of poor attendance was 100% right.

I think Beathard is going to have a field day beating us over the top. We will struggle to get to 200 total yards in this game. Only way this is close is if Iowa beat itself. Something like 34-3 is the likely outcome.

Rutgers wouldn't have the balls to face North Dakota State. You guys stick to MEAC and SWAC schools.
Oh relax, did you not read enough self-loathing in this thread? I bet you're the type who wants their coach to dial up long passing plays when your team is leading by 50 points?

In all fairness, Iowa has a solid track record of beating the **** out of their opponents by barely more than a touchdown. That's no joke either.

Ferentz historically sits on leads and holds on for dear life and even though the game was never in doubt whatsoever, the score makes it appear so.

So we will see you in Iowa city next time around?

You ever been to iowa or nah?
No, I've never been there, and I tend to doubt I'd come out this time. I'll wait until my team is in a better position to be competitive with the big guys, probably 2-3 years down the road.

We hear the same thing from fans every B1G game. Only one to even break 5,000 was Ohio St. last year and I'm not even sure they did.. They took over a 3/4's empty stadium. Believe me you won't come remotely close to 10,000 fans in that stadium come Sat. However, it might sound like more if you start kicking our asses.

Funny, we've heard a number of Big Ten teams say that, yet they've never had anywhere close to that amount.

We've had way too many head coaches like that.

Really? That's your comment? I am an RU faithful for many years- but I know that NDSU would kill us. They are a legit top 20 team. Don't be ignorant please.
No they wouldn't. It would be a close game by the end. They could possibly win but it in no way shape or form would be a blowout. That's just silly thinking. Your ignorant if you think ND St. playing a P5 schedule would be Top20. They would start getting crushed by game 3. Their players maybe able to pull an upset the one game a year they play a P5 but a sustained P5 schedule would decimate their not as talented roster.

Agreed. Every Big Ten fanbase we played talked about how they were going to take over our stadium and really the only time it happened was when we were getting creamed by Ohio State last year, all the RU fans left and they started doing the O-H-I-O chant.

Our fans are fickle but they show up for big time opponents. Most fanbases are surprised when lowly Rutgers has a more formidable fanbase and game day atmosphere then they thought.

Iowa has a history of making poor quarterbacks look like Cam Newton. So many times opposing qbs have had career days against Iowa despite no previous or later evidence of being capable. So don't despair....
Unless they are bring a Cam Newton Halloween costume, that is near impossible.

Either way, like many have noted, our strengths include Grant, running backs and D line. Areas that have performed up to par are the OLine and the secondary has surprisingly improved given how bad they were last year. Weaknesses are QB play, WR depth and our LB core is very thin.

Most RU fans are expecting a loss but for a competitive game. First quarters have been a disaster but unlike previous coaches, the staff seems to have an ability to make the right adjustments.
