Ohio State has 8 kickoff times scheduled so far. 2 at noon, 1 at 3:30, 1 at 5:30, 1 at 7:30 and 3 at 8:00. So there is at least some truth to that.

Not really since he was making the common RU Rivals mistake of phrasing it as an absolute. And being kind of a doucher about it, all the while.

Get your lazy butts out of bed, make it a breakfast tailgate with plenty of eye openers and get into the stadium for kick-off. You want to be big-time? Act like it.
Exactly I'm not coming all the way to New Jersey for a lame-*** tailgate!!

Three in a row plus a noon Homecoming. A bit much.

Also do believe RU has the highest percentage of its fan driving to the Stadium on game day and the least percentage of its fan base arriving the night before. Double whammy for RU fans.

How is that a double whammy? Rutgers fans chose not to come the night before. No one is stopping them from coming the night before or early in the day. We have a fan base that mostly is apathetic, lazy or stubborn to change with the times.

Or the most loyal fan base. Noon games tough because well they are noon games and doubly tough when arriving game day. Very few Mobile homes parked overnight. Only two hotels in town. Nobody lazy. Arguably most loyal fans in the country!

How will this work with fox ? Do we anticipate different game times ?

I'd assume a bit more primetime games, maybe one a week??

Also probably means less ESPNU, ESPNews Games at 12 and 3:30..meaning they'll just go to Fox. Doubt time windows will change much. Just a guess.

50k loyal fans?? No not close. Every school has loyal fans. Rutgers doesn't compare in size to most of the Big Ten.
And why are noon games a problem only to Rutgers fans? The rest of the Big Ten doesn't have problems.

Bull crap. There are lots of places to stay overnight within easy driving distance of the stadium, but that's besides the point. It is so easy to get to Piscataway on a Saturday morning from anywhere in the state, even Cape May, for a noon start.

I have Michigan family and I've made the trek on Saturday mornings from Grand Rapids, MI to Ann Arbor for noon starts many times and that's with contending with 100,000 + other fans most of whom also drive in for game day. Noon games are tough only if that is your mind set. Just do it.

Ru does not have history or wins but fans keep coming. Was at RU Wisconsin last year. No difference!!! Ru v Michigan and tons of shuttles from hotels. Far more over nighters. Not even close.

Indiana must be a powerhouse:

7:30
4pm
3:30
8pm
3:30
already scheduled.

Illinois is a major powerhouse!

3:30
7:30
4pm
3:30
3:30
already scheduled

The best B1G games are going to be at 3:30 on ABC. (or 8pm if they're scheduled in advance) No questioning that. The next 2 best games are usually noon games...and the 4th best is usually another 3:30. Has nothing to do with records, in my opinion.

I have a son at Wisconsin. The overwhelming majority of their home games the past 3 years have been at 11 a.m. CST, so I don't think it's based on how good we are.

Again there is no reason Rutgers doesn't have more overniters. People at other schools make it a weekend, Rutgers fans complain about noon start.

No, it doesn't look that way, though it's kinda early and we still don't know what the team's about given the nature of our first two opponents.

I wouldn't call a conference game a garbage game, regardless. I would call your entire premise garbage, though.

How hard is it to get up at 6:45, get out the door by 7:30 and be in the lot between 8 and 8:30 based on distance to travel? I get it if you are a 24 year old still in party mode, but most of our fans are past that age.

Good programs plays at 3pm or 6pm. Great programs play at 8

Michigan/OSU never has and never will be any later than noon.
Michigan/MSU will never be later than 3:30pm and is almost always at noon.
We, as well as OSU, MSU and Iowa or any team you want to look at play majority noon or 3:30 games. We had 7/12 regular season games at noon last year. Only 2 at 8. You guys had 3 at 8 for reference.

Michigan Stadium didn't even have lights until 2011 and has had a total of 3 night games. Please.

I doubt there is much change. If the conference was more willing to play night games, the Big Ten would get more night games. I guess there are some issues with some of the stadiums not having permanent lights, but I think it is only one or 2 teams at this point. Last year the Big Ten had 14 Saturday games in primetime (post 7pm start). In comparison the ACC had 5, Big 12 had 9, Pac12 had 14, plus a good number of 10pm ET or later starts ,SEC had 41 (plus a few more at 6pm).

In the grand scheme of things, you are basically moving some of the ABC games to Fox, and some of the ESPN/2/U games to FS1. In 2015, the Big Ten had 21 games on ABC, 10 on ESPN, 11 on ESPN2, 8 on ESPNU and 8 on ESPNews. 41 games were on BTN.

Fail. When your team blows or you are playing a team that blows, you play a nooner snoozer.

Good programs plays at 3pm or 6pm. Great programs play at 8

I went back to last year to see all the conference game kickoff times.
Here was all the "good" and "great" programs to play at those times in Big Ten conference play:

3:30pm:
Indiana x5
Wisconsin x5
Nebraska x4
Michigan x4
Michigan State x4
Illinois x3
Minnesota x3
Northwestern x3
Rutgers x3
Maryland x3
Ohio State x2
Iowa x2
Penn State x2
Purdue x1

7/8pm:
Ohio State x3
Minnesota x3
Michigan State x2
Rutgers x2
Nebraska x1
Iowa x1
Penn State x1
Michigan x1

Noon:
Purdue x7
Penn State x5
Illinois x5
Northwestern x5
Maryland x5
Iowa x5
Rutgers x3
Wisconsin x3
Indiana x3
Michigan x3
Ohio State x3
Nebraska x3
Minnesota x2
Michigan State x2

So there you go. If anyone can cry about noon games it's basically only Purdue and definitely not Rutgers.

Some of us are coming from 2+ hours away. Yes that's my problem, and still plan on being in the lots by 8:00 or 8:30am. What is disappointing is all these "breakfast" tailgates. Gonna have to do lunch for Iowa and just pretend it's lunchtime. Would like to get a 4-5 hour tailgate in though. Figure will make up for it with Michigan and PSU.

These threads always renew my feelings that too many fans care more about what goes on in the parking lot than in the stadium.

The game is still my priority number one, but those parking lots have kept people coming back to watch RU in even the leanest of years, so I wouldn't knock it too much. Plus why can't you do both?

You can certainly do both. But when you see how the stadium looks at kickoff for some games, it makes you wonder what people are actually coming for.

With Purdue on the border of East/ Central time does that make it easier or harder for fans coming from the west? They gain an hour?

100,000+ Michigan and Ohio State fans have dealt with this for a long time and it doesn't seem to bother them. I've been to quite a few noon games at the Big House and the tailgating is just fine. Chronically challenged Rutgers fans seem unable to cope with .... well, just about everything.
And you would be correct! RU fans on this board love to piss and moan about EVERYTHING. They're royal pains in the ***, but they have big hearts!

Been coming to RU games since 1991. Up until 2006, the ONLY reason to come to an RU game was for what was going on in the parking lot! Just saying.

Just don't complain about lousy ticket sales if you are satisfied with noon starts.
Half my group from last year works until noon on 3 Saturdays a month and didn't renew their season tickets for 2016
Smart move on their part the way things are going

If you work Saturday's, as I do, you really have no cause to complain. You work on a weekend for crying out loud!
I use vacation days and a lot of shuffling of the schedule to be there on gameday.

Why does no other program have issues with noon games, but we do?

As Ash said on his radio program last night, noon starts mean "big time" football, "big ten" football. Get used to them!

Even with our own network, it seems you either get the 8pm prime time game, or noon.
This is the price of the big contracts.

No one wants to pay for a prime big ten game, then get their market share nipped and nibbled on by regional big ten games on BTN or elsewhere. That's what the noon time slot is for.

Yeah, the B1G really should start scheduling around the three guys in your group that work on Saturday.

Maybe it'd be better if they moved college football as a whole to a different day? What day(s) work best for your group?
