Uniforms?

fyi - The guys playing in the games on Saturdays this fall won't have "stripes" on their helmets.
There's a happy medium between boring and what many didn't like about our new ones. Outside of the number issue I really liked our unis especially the back and white. Let's hope nike and Ash come up with something that can satisfy 18% of the people here which would be a record!
I personally loved these except put the B1G logo on their upper right portion of the chest rather than sleeve.
I liked the chrome helmets, but I also liked the red helmets with the white block R.
There were two things I didn't like about the new uniforms themselves...
1) the numbering was not good. Color, shape, size, readability, you name it. Poor numbering.
2) the monochrome white and red uniforms. all black makes sense for black out game purposes... but I never liked us in all red or all white with the old unis, either.

Excited to see what the 2016 uniforms will look like.

My favorite as well. The numbers on the shoulders are old school cool. I could lose the red helmet and replace with chrome, but I would be fine with this look again.I personally loved these except put the B1G logo on their upper right portion of the chest rather than sleeve.
Has this been confirmed? I haven't been on the board much lately with work/family. Looking forward to new uni's.

Ash is like the rest of winners. Understands tradition. Understands how years and years of alumni and players connect with consistency. When you flip channels you know in an instant who Bama, Mich, USC, hell - even USCe, is playing.
So glad we have a coach who thinks like a big boy. They past 4 years have been so uninspiring. So much I lost all connention to the Power Rangers playing on that field.

Don't like confirming to big . Let's be our own brand and stand out. We don't need to look like Nebraska
Or Indiana, or Wisconsin for that matter. I honestly just want us to look unique. It could be plain and simple... it could be gaudy and flashy... but the bottom line is, I want people to see us and automatically know that its us. Not squint and say "Wait is that nebraska? is that... OSU? are those Wisconsin alternate unis?...LOL thats Rutgers??? They look exactly like_____ ripoffs"
Its tougher to do when you limit yourself to red & white... in this conference specifically where theres a lot of it.
Rutgers would be the only team in the B1G with red helmets (when Indiana wears their candy stripe helmets). Nebraska and Wisconsin wears white helmets, so there's a little difference. Plus the recent unis make Rutgers look like Ohio State other than the all-salmon PJ look.
Unique doesn't automatically mean good. Also if people are going to be squinting, at least it won't be to read the jersey numbers anymore. Does anyone say that Wisconsin looks like OSU ripoffs or that Nebraska looks like Wisconsin ripoffs?

That being said, IU only wears the striped helmets sometimes. They go red. Wisconsin wears red helmets as well. So does Nebby. We would not be the only B1G team with red helmets... And lastly we never looked anything like OSU.
Funny those are all alternate helmets, so now we can't wear the same color as any other team and also their alternates? Also, do Wisconsin fans complain about Indiana for ripping off their red helmets? Or is is Nebraska who complains about Wisconsin? And who ripped off USC?? Now I'm confused
quite often actually. Same with Indiana... theres a reason why they did their candy striped helmets. It's the same reason why Nebraska started doing their all reds. B1G teams look very similar
Michigan changed from Maize pants on the road to white. Pretty big change. They never change their home uniforms, but do tinker with the roads.
So be it, Rutgers was red before they were. Let them be the ones who change if they don't like it.

Here is the exact quote Tuesday from a Chris Ash interview with him.
"It was terrible" Ash said during the interview" The times I coached against Rutgers, that was like
the number one thing: When you're trying to identify personnel coming in the game
amd you can't see the damn numbers." Duggan went on to say although Ash did not give details
about the uniforms, Ash said the specifics will be announced after spring practice. He stated he
has a specific style in mind. He went on saying " I just look at: does Ohio State have 15 unifoms?
No. does Alabama? No. does USC No. does Michigan? No." Ash said. "You look at some of the
traditional best football programs around the country, and they have an identifiable,
clean, first-class look, and that's what I want us to have."
I just love how this guy speaks his mind, he didn't say it's a work in progress,
or I'm still chopping. He tells it how it is.
The black stripe, is something Ash has brought over from
urban Meyer. To quote Ash: "The black strip is a symbol that
when it is removed from your helmet you are game ready" Ash
also said " You are combat ready to go play, and the players know
that if they have a black stripe on their helmet they will not play
in a game here. Not ready in their ability, in terms of their trust
level, and a lot of other things that can go into it," at Ohio state
every Rookie had to start with a black stripe, Ash said, here it will

He did not say go chop a piece or wood, instead he stopped practice
after just 15 minutes and let them have it for not being focused
enough. There is also a piece in the article about the new Banner at the
stadium. which is just one word: "Hunt." that is explained in the article.

game hunting in the Big Ten." and went on with a more detailed explantion.
Here's an idea - to placate the geezers in our fanbase (which is to say 80% of ScarletNation), Nike ought to come out with clear polycarbonate helmets with translucent silicone padding. That way, it'll look like the players are not wearing any headgear, just like back in the late Triassic when our fans were young.

If having the same look as some of the other conference members if such a huge thing, get out of the B1G then. Since that's not happening, just pick a scheme and keep it. Don't have to change the look every week or look like a clown costume as well. Aparently, all of this "the kids like them" crap is not working since Rutgers still have a ways to go in recruiting so called "big time players." Hopefully Ash will end the madness in many ways.
I don't understand the need to change helmets back to red when they have perfectly unique helmets right now.
You are making an assumption the helmets are going to be red.
