Now that an acceptable time has passed, does anyone know what made Field decommit? It was just so weird that he went from, one day leading the charge for RU recruits, to gone the next.
Any inside info. will be appreciated.

Based on his Rivals page it looks like he's no longer holding an offer from RU. If we still wanted him I would expect the offer to remain intact even if he decommitted.

I know many here loved the way Field showed his supposed love for Rutgers, but it was next level weird. Just one of those people who would get a tattoo of their new girlfriend's name. The overalls were cool the first couple of times, but then you realize that it might be his only clothes.

Who knows, and personally, I don't really care.

It seems the Flood and the coaches didn't see eye-to-eye with Field, according to the preliminary report. If anything else to it, something would have leaked out somewhere.

unlike some others who have parted ways with RU in the past, he seems like a genuine good kid...so I hope things work out for him.

PS - if he ended up at PSU (unlikely...just saying), then all bets are off, and I will call him every name in the book ;)

Could it have been a matter of control. Rutgers tells the kid hey that's funny but can you tone it down a little. Kid says yes but then can't help himself. Rutgers finally grows tired of it all and begins to pull away. Kids can see the writing on the wall and decides to go out with his pride intact. Moves on. All better off.

No need for this. You have no idea what happened. Just move on.

I suspect that has something to do with it. I speculate that he was either close to violating or violating some NCAA laws in the way he was so buddy-buddy with the fans. I bet Rutgers had to keep reminding him to tone it down and him and his family got sick of hearing it.

Then again, I have no inside info or connection and could completely be off base...but it's al ost like his passion for everything RU and doing things like tailgating with fans, signing autographs at fan fest etc may have been a slippery slope.

Violated NCAA rules? Someone must have given him a hot dog at tailgaiting. Big no no

The NCAA is totally inept. If little things like that got policed, schools like UCLA and USC wouldn't have a program. That kind of stuff, and then some, goes on every Saturday.

Coaching staff cooled on him. That's pretty much the story.

This. Combined with his antics, they didn't feel like putting up with him. If he was that talented he would have more offers then he has right now. Spring evaluation just ended too, which is when tons of new offers go out.

Matt Alkire is Field's mentor and also director of Upper Hand Promotions a recruiting service that supposedly helps recruits get offers might have had a hand in Ted cooling on RU, along with Flood cooling on the kid.
Sometimes people like him convince kids the two that might be in the bush are better than the one you're holding now and a kid's attitude changes from being glad to have the offer, to thinking he might be able to do better and stop acting like he wants top go there.
Making the school that offered feel they might be better off offering the scholarship to someone else, letting the kid and his mentor know they feel that way.

He was on an incredible upward image, pr & bravado trajectory - so much so that it was probably not sustainable - and most certainly not sustainable if it required his skills & capabilities to rise in a similar manner.

That sorta explains it best.
Thanks.

Thank you all for the responses. I don't think we will ever know for sure why. But, such is the intrigue of College recruiting. Personally, I wish Mr. Field well, with the understanding that life is not a sprint, but a marathon.

Good attitude to have,.
I wish Ted success in the classroom, but don't really care about any on the field success he might or might not have.
Only want him to fail if the school he goes to plays RU and only for the games he plays against the Scarlet Knights.
Of course I will want 1st team All American for him, if he does attend RU :D

Well, this is one of those douchebag posts that makes me post, "Well, this is one of those douchebag posts." Teddy was a fun dude, a nice guy, and the overalls were badass. I know you're trolling for ******** because of your low post count and single like, but damn, man, get some class.
