Bought a private build AeroPrecision. Seems like a quality build, with good components.

They definitely make it confusing. What's your specific questions and I'll do my best to clear it up.
What will be the difference between the currently allowed pistol brace set-up and what will be allowed in the future. The way it sounds to me is that anything that makes two handed operation of the firearm will make the firearm an SBR.

First make sure the brace you want is approved now. What they will allow in the future is unknown. If certain people had their way nothing would be legal. The SB I posted in this thread is a good one.

Don't redesign it and you can shoulder it
incidental, sporadic, or situational.

*** Most importantly don't redesign it***

Libs, this is why "banning assault weapons" is an exercise in futility.

Whatever specifications you ban, they'll be worked around to the edge, and the criminals will still have 30 round mags.

Personally I think the whole SBR restrictions and rules are unconstitutional. I can see how the pistol brace law is confusing to many. Hopefully I helped. If not people can ask more questions.

Pistol build barrel length question:
5.56/.223

10.5"
11.5"
14.5"
Other

I wouldn't build a AR Pistol in that caliber. It loses to much velocity. I would suggest the 300 blackout or something that makes a bigger hole for that. But if you insist get the longest barrel possible that still allows you the mobility you want.

I wouldn't want to depend on that to save my life. All those malfunctions are a serious problem. From everything I've read 3D printed guns are unreliable.
they are getting better and better all the time. less than 10 years ago. The Liberator was the first fully printed 3d gun and it was only held one bullet and was EXTREMELY unreliable and dangerous. They have comne a long long way. Of course own some metal guns, but if you shoot for fun why not buy a $200 printer and see what you can make.

Then there is always this option which is a mill that you just put a block of aluminum into and it will cut the lower out for you

Good Luck. It's not for me.

Tell me about 6.5 Grendel. Why is it a good choice for an AR?

It makes a bigger hole than a 5.56 and will kill deer sized animals more efficient at longer ranges. It fits on an AR15 vs A10 platform so less weight. It also has a long barrel life up to 10,000 rounds. Recoil is very mild.

300 blackout is good for CQB purposes in the AR Pistol with the correct ammo. Lots of choices. Still a good 200 to 350 yard effective range.

If you get a 6.5 grendel in 12 inch you get more range outside. As in I wouldn't want to get hit with it at 600 to 800 even out of a 12 inch barrel. Think of it as a Scout Rifle Concept only semi vs bolt action.

5.56 wouldn't be my first choice in a longer barrel so definitely wouldn't be my first choice in an AR 15 Pistol. However Ammo is usually plentiful and a less expensive. So you could go that route and buy an extra barrel in one the other two later.

Some things to consider as you decide what you want to use it for. 300 blackout or 6.5 grendel for all purposes.

Match grade HBAR in 6.5 grendel I would go with 18 to 22 inches. It's a HBAR. Do you want to carry that for hrs and constantly shoot it standing? Probably not. Go with a lighter barrel unless you are only going to be shooting it from a rested position. If most of your shooting is going to be from a rested position go with a longer barrel for better effectiveness.

Picked up an Aero M5E1 complete lower and now I need an upper. I'm going to stick with 308. Any suggestions on barrel length for a multipurpose hunting and property defense build?

16, 18, or 20. For 308 a 20 inch is far as you need to go for the purpose you described. 16 will be easier to handle. If you aren't going to shooting at deer past a couple hundred yards 16 will be plenty. Matter of fact I was researching the same company not that long ago for a similar build. 😉

Depends on what the lives of you and your family are worth. I bought a new Daniels Defense a couple of years ago. You should probably consider a used Panther Arms.

You're point is good one and Daniel Defense makes a good rifle. But you can definitely build a dependable rifle around a thousand. I listed many good parts in this thread. Concentrate on barrel, bcg, and trigger. That leaves money for decent optic. If he had said he had 3000 dollars then a DD good optic is the way to go.

Picked up an 18" .223 wylde by Aero and got a 10.5" Double Star Mk 18 clone upper. Also picked up a Ruger American .308 and 10/22 breakdown model. Things are escalating pretty quickly. :joy:

Hardest to source at decent prices is the 7.62/308. I've got thousands of rounds of 5.56/223 in all different grain weights.
Should build to the ammo that's readily available. My 2 cents worth . I have a lot of guns. My self defense weapons are chambered in 5.56 , 9mm .22 and 12 . don't want to take a chance on getting **** confused if **** gets real . I'm not Rambo or Rockefeller so I went with cheap and light .

I've got thousands of rounds of those calibers and several hundred rounds of OO buckshot in 12 & 20 gauge.

Then concentrate on optics and quality. I'm a firm believer in common sense and keeping it simple.
I have other guns but they was bought on the fly and normally someone needed money so I bought them cheap . I just picked up a turaus judge for a couple hundred bucks . Great home defense gun or barn gun .

Fixing to pick up an Primary Arms 1-8 LPVO for my 18" 5.56. I've got several of the PA fixed magnification prism scopes on different rifles. Need to get a 4X though for my latest acquisition.
