Brandon Knapper had a solid game tonight vs Kansas State and further cemented his spot on roster and playing time for next year. He is very capable and will only get better. Knapper is only a freshmen and is improving slowly but surely. Huggs just needs to inject the confidence in him and build him up. Knapper has the highest ceiling of all the guards on roster. He can actually defend and has quickness, athletic ability. He has big game capabilities and that’s why he scored 25 against Oklahoma a few weeks ago in a win.

Knapper has cut down his turnovers and is protecting the ball better. He is making strides and will be a good player here.

Meanwhile McCabe struggled again as usual with 0 points, bad defense, bad turnovers and no assists. McCabe should transfer for his own good. He’s outmatched in Big 12. Haley isn’t the answer either. Knapper is better than both.

You must have been blind or so biased that you turn off what little brain you have. Obviously missed the bounce pass feed to one cutting to the rim, down the lane. McCabe did not score nor did he take idiotic, middle school rec league shots like Knapper. He scored what he did because he was willing to keep shooting (or throwing the ball toward the basket) throughout the gams. Plus he was left in much longer than McCabe which allowed more opportunities. Notice also that KState iced the game with Knapper in and not when McCabe was playing in the second portion of the first half.

Watched 4 full games and parts of 5.

Knapper is more athletic and has a lot more potential.
The team is better when Knapper is playing.

Knapper is only a freshmen. If you watch closely every minute like I do you can easily see he’s the best one and has more potential. He has athletic ability and can score. He has cut down his turnovers the last 7-8 games or so and Huggs is going with him. Knapper has upside and can defend, shoot, score. He will only get better. He wants it. I think he will work his *** off this offseason. Last year and last offseason he had the knee injury and then the blood clot. He didn’t have a summer to work his butt off. Doctors put him out a couple months. That was after he recovered from knee surgery. Give the kid a break. He’s going to be good here. He is already capable of double figure scoring against Big 12 teams. He’s a WV boy too. He’s going to make you proud the next 3 years ahead.

Miles McBride will not be ready to impact much next year. He won’t be starting material at all as a true freshmen. He only averages 14 points and 4 assists right now as a senior in high school. He does play on Ohio #1 team though but he won’t impact much as a true freshmen next year. He has upside and potential as a 4 year guy but not ready to play big minutes day 1. Actually a prep year was needed for him. That would serve him great.

There are two parts that every coach has to manage...

The season and long term

Since the long term is more important than the season at this time you play the players who have a higher ceiling.
It may be frustrating but Huggins knows what he is doing.

They are pretty even with McCabe having 1 more assist than Knapper. To me Knapper is more of a 2 than PG. But Knapper is able to play both. He just hasn't shot the ball or passed the ball effectively.

Knapper will be good. He shows flashes already despite health issues all last year that set him back. He will have a full offseason this year and will be very good next year. Knapper is better than McCabe already.

If Konate and Beetle come back healthy for a Big 12 tournament I like our chances. Culver is a stud and he and Konate will rip teams apart down low. Knapper is stepping up a little with reps and confidence growing. Beetle will help out and Lamont West is playing better now that Esa and Harris negativity are gone.

Big 12 is wide open this year. Parity. Kansas was top team in country if they had those 3 playing. Losing those 3 hurt badly. Azabuko, Vick, Desosa.
