worth noting:

"this is only my second year going through this"

- Coach Rhule today on navigating the portal. last offseason was his first year dealing with the portal.

Does anyone here know if Lincoln Kienholz is a realistic possibility? I’ve seen some smoke from so-called Twitter experts that he is but nothing verifiable…seems like he was treated fairly well from a NIL perspective (think I read he got an Audi from a local dealer) at Ohio State.

He’s obviously far from proven but would be nice to have another body in there to compete with what we have and have multiple years of eligibility left

I agree. I don't want you to go down that road. Come back as DingleKong, RamboFritz or TopDingle. 😢 ;)
I’m just realistic about our chances of landing one of the top transfer QBs. Most of the guys entering the portal have their own weaknesses to deal with. Many weren’t expected to start for their own team. Kienholz would be fantastic but I don’t see it happening.

I am nothing like you.
you're exactly like me

your posts about purdy starting next year and us not landing a portal QB better are literally copy/pasted from my posts earlier in the season about HH

I commend you for it. you're posting what you believe even if it's a hard truth nobody wants to hear.

more can learn from guys like you and me.

"A good quarterback in the portal costs $1M, $1.5M, just so we're on the same page"

"We believe in doing things the old school way, the hard way"

"Chubba has a high ceiling"

"Heinrich wasn't even allowed to go to quarterback meetings last year"

-Coach Rhule today
Reading between the lines, I don't think they are gonna take one unless one of the 3 QBs leave.

he also mentioned a fact that I was absolutely crucified for posting months ago:

all the most successful portal QBs are NOT in their 1st year with their new team

I do think we'll get a transfer QB this offseason, but he'll be somebody nobody's ever heard of with 3 years of eligibility left who doesn't command big dollars we cannot pay

I imagine the line of QBs beating down our door to play for Rhule next year just got a lot longer after this

If Rhule seriously goes into next year with the same 3 QBs and a much tougher conference schedule....then I'd question whether he is trying to get fired to collect the buyout money.

I suspect he'd love to grab one or two...but you just heard him state we ain't spending what it's going to take to get a difference maker....and i'm not complaining...'It is what it is".

If we don't have 1.5 million to spend on a portal QB. I'm curious what rule is supposed to do about it? Of course, you would like to land the top portal transfer QB.... But if you can't do that, then you have no choice but to work with what you have

he's doing what he can.

this is the second time he's taken a public shot at the guys holding the purse in a few weeks.

many here will deny either ever happened.

I think Rhule knows that it won't take a top portal transfer QB to make us better than we were though

makes you wonder whether or not it was us and our under the table bagmen that were hurt most by NIL, not the SEC schools everyone likes to point and laugh at

"our roster is already maxed out"

- Rhule
And very soon, hopefully today or tomorrow NU will announce CB Amare Sanders has committed and after his Dec 8th visit, announce OT Xander Ruggeroli has committed. I think Rhule has some hard talks with some guys this week and freeing up a scholly for a QB won't be a problem.

I've been so busy today I haven't had a chance to see any of the PC. It's a little frustrating to see these soundbites. I mean, I'm pretty sure he watched the games this year and saw a 9 win team go 5-7 because of QB play. Why do things the hard way?

I did not take that presser that way...he's been very consistent about the subject...he doesn't love it and like you said...he's doing what he can.

I'm just so glad we hired a guy who not only has zero experience in today's college football landscape, but also outwardly expresses his disdain for it every chance he gets
