My family went out for dinner at Valentinos at one point in 1997. I went to the bar and I was in total awe. THE DR TOM was right there 12 yo me was completely dumbfounded.

We both went and bothered the ol ball coach.
12 YO me and my sister bothered an old retired man just trying to have dinner by himself. In our eyes he was superman. We didn't know any better.

So when Mickey is named coach you will say it’s because everyone knew it especially you?

1,000’s of Husker fans are predicting Mickey to be HC. No I am not one of them, I am not making any predictions. And no the voices in your head do not count as “sources”.

Even after the loss to Illinois expect Mickey to be named the coach here either before the season ends or soon after.
TO gave Trev the official blessing that he thinks Mickey deserves a shot to be head coach.
TO wants Mickey to get at least 4-5years like Frost did and knows 9 weeks is not enough when almost none of the players and coaches are Mickeys guys. TO has agreed to mentor MJ.
Ask a current recruits family about what Trev says about Mickey.

Mickey Joseph head football coach Nebraska. Congratulations coach.
TO wants to give everyone a chance. It's just who he is.

My dad and I were out fishing once at Stagecoach I believe when Dr. Tom showed up and asked how the fishing was. He had a spring in his step, that guy likes to fish.

He spoke to my church once and I got to shake his hand.

Then I attended a Christian morning prayer meeting where US and Nebraska economics were discussed and he was in attendance and we discussed ideas for increasing job availability in Nebraska so people would stay in state.

I felt like a lesser man in that room, there are some smart people out there!

A guy with 2 wins, 2 blowout losses, 1 high scoring loss and a team imploding. M'kay. Sign him up for 5 years. This is nonsensical stuff. If it was any other interim coach, we wouldn't even be talking about this.

So sick of the "none of the players are the current coach's".. all of the kids are yours now. Embrace it or you're not worth it as a coach. All you're doing is making bs excuses at the get go. Adapting to what you have is one of the key elements to being a successful College Football coach. Just get it done. Sick of that comment.

Hasn't TO done enough damage with his recommendations and chinzyness. He needs to stay the hell out of it.

THIS is exactly why my trust in Trev is waffling...Huge blunder in appointing MJ.

Instant controversy and distraction.

TO handpicked Solich and hired Pelini...those have been our two best HC's since TO retired, so I'm not sure it's fair to say he doesn't know about coaching hires....he did it better than AD's who were professional managers hired to do the job.

Do some fans love MJ because he is not Frost...or because he played at NU?

I don't get it. At best...I would just lump him in with some of the other boring names we have heard pop up.

For as much hate as TO gets for his picks...you do bring up a good point.

Both Solich and Pelini inherited a ton of talent, and then started getting blown out by good teams once they ran out of the previous coach's players and had all of their own recruits.

Neither one was a great hire.

Or we could of done a real coaching search and had maybe Mack Brown, Bob Stoops etc. Your argument holds no water.

TO should have zero sway in the new HC selection as he is zero for three: FS, BP and SF

Nor would I buy the mentoring BS as he clearly had no influence on SF

Add this to the list of coaching names that will be brought up in the next 10-20 years with all the reasons they were selected and/or fired.

I sincerely do not have an opinion on any of thr HC names and no I didn't say prospects. I have zero clue if Urban and others were even interested. Sure doesn't seem they were. We would like to think people are lining up for the job when they may not be. It is easy to stand from the outside, cite a coaches record and make a recommendation. Quite another to deep deeper into his life, coaching style, personal relationships, etc. But we are all experts, I get that.

What argument? That TO hired better coaches than other people in his same position? It's not even an argument, it's an objective fact based on their coaching records. I said nothing about the current coaching search.

Thank you. It's amazing how people reinvent these guys after they've been long gone. They compare them with the putrid performances of Riley and Frost as an example why we shouldn't ever have gotten rid of them. You said exactly the reasons why we got rid of them.

Those ARE pretty damn good records at UNC! ****, 7-6 looks like Valhalla to me right now. And, aren't they 7-1 right now? Mack Brown is a damn good coach. But, I think I'm one of about 2-3 people on this board that think you could throw a dozen names in a hat, pull one out, and we'd be better off than we've been in a decade. The coaches we've hired have been so bad it would be impossible to not improve.

Also, people try to overlook the fact that Pelini was engaged in a two-year psychotic break. Every game involved a camera dedicated to Pelini because everyone was pretty sure he was going to murder someone on the sideline.

He should of never been hired once again no real coaching search.
