Probably not any more than he does now.Just finished re-reading this article on QB guru Chryst. Scary to think what he'll do with talent. Good read if interested

The coeds prob blew him
What exactly are you saying? He was VERY impressive in the all star game I watched. I would loved to had him as a Husker
Hardly - you can not deny Wisconsin took a step back last year with 5 losses - also the defense finished #29 in total and #34 in scoring while respectable no where near where they were. You desperate
Mertz was darn good and I wish we had room for him. Not sure if there was any interest on behalf of either party. He may not be that great of a dual threat QB.What exactly are you saying?

It was the 4th year for Chryst something changed after the team became completely his and it was not for the better last year
Most teams fans would say the same thing about their team.I could explain but it's tl;dr so who cares. '19 is a continuation of last year - I could see UW going 8-5 or 9-4. The 2020 season is shaping up to be a B1G championship caliber team, though.
Alright the tl;dr. I think I've said this here beforeMost teams fans would say the same thing about their team.

2015 class - Chryst was hired 2 mos before NSD, tries to hold together the '15 class, lost in-state Nate Stanley to Iowa because the prior coach ran an idiot spread O, class sucked
2016 class - since he barely got the '15 class together Chryst got a late jump on '16. Lost high 4* in-state OL to Michigan for example (Ben Bredeson, 3 yr starter for UM). Had no good QB to poach, (the QB already transferred out). It's hard enough recruiting to Wisconsin as is but with 0 relationships, class sucked
2017 class, finally a normal class
2018, best class ever
2019, best class ever again
What you all saw were the misses from '15-'16 classes coming back to bite us. Wisconsin needs a pipeline of upperclassmen players and yea, the pipeline got disrupted. '19 season might be similar but better, then '20 will be back to RS and true SRs, RS and true JRs dominating the team.
Wisconsin recruiting
I see no massive improvement since 2016 2014 thru 2016 signed 11 four star players - 2017 thru 2019 signed 12. What I see is a decent class in 2019 but as many have pointed out on this board anything less than a full signing class of 25 per year is not a good thing. You guys do rely on development heavily, I do not see anything in your recruiting classes that will change that . That makes losing a three year senior starter at QB all the more alarming
- 2014 26 total - 4 four star - 14 three star aver 2.8
- 2015 19 total - 3 four star - 12 three star aver 2.95
- 2016 25 total - 4 four star - 19 three star aver 3.08
- 2017 18 total - 5 four star - 10 three star aver 3.11
- 2018 20 total - 1 four star - 19 three star aver 3.05
- 2019 19 total - 6 four star - 12 three star aver 3.26
I know we're on Rivals but Rivals' rating system is just stupid (wtf is "5.9" or whatever?). I look at 247 composite since it factors in the 3 major services.Wisconsin recruiting

The biggest thing for any college or pro team is getting "the man" at QB. Wisconsin always seems to have enough of the other pieces and develops linemen better than some. Hopefully the new QB isn't "the man" like he looked like in that all star game. Here is the weird thing. I am pretty sure over the past 3 years, I have written countless posts about Wisconsin recruiting. In that time I have been steadfast in my belief that Nebraska cannot recruit that way anymore. If I remember correctly, you and others were on my nutz about demanding that Nebraska has to recruit that way because there was no way we could get multiple top 15 classes to Nebraska. No recruiting base, middle of nowhere..blah blah blah.
I have also been very adamant that redshirting whole classes was a losing proposition. Yet here you are talking about getting 25 players in a class. Well you can't get 25 in a class if you are redshirting whole classes, like Wisconsin does, and how many on here feel it is what Nebraska needs to do.
Don't get me wrong, I am glad you are finally seeing the light. At least my time here hasn't been for naught.![]()
Oh and regarding Hornybrook, he banged a starting OL's gf allegedly. OL allegedly knocked him out at some bar causing his mystery concussion. He was rumored to not be well-liked before that, so our fanbase isn't so sure he had the option to return but we'll never know, Chryst is a secretive nut.

A well known football player gets knocked out at some bar and there is no video of this? I don’t know the story here but I want to see that video..
Fair point, I threw 'allegedly' in there but the rumor is absolutely rampant. I never thought about that though.
Ya'll copied the Huskers from the beginning of your success. Watch the Packers because reality is coming son.
By complete chance we're the best matchup for you. 3-4 is way better vs that style of O than 4-3. Plus the whole running the ball/milking clock/keeping your O on the sidelines. That's not to say you won't win the game but it's a good yin vs yang matchup.
I'm glad you have a pro style quarterback. Do you have wide receivers or are you Iowa 2.0 ? I fully expect too see Nebraska to beat both teams next year. It's Iowa and Wisconsin. I don't see a loss. I wonder what your offense will be beyond short passes to your running back from your freshman QB with a young line protecting him. Iowa lost their offense.
I'm more worried about Northwestern and Purdue than Mertz and whoever Iowa's quarterback is. @Iliketrees
Lol I'm not talking ****. I talk **** on Soundoff but just chat on other boards.Mods- please don't ban this guy. Plz! Now talk ****. Y'all have beaten us like a drum. I have said If our defense gets in the 50's as far as defensive efficiency we'll win 9 games.
You can't ban opposing fanbases **** talk based upon Iowa fans. Let me hurt your feelings @Iliketrees
This narrative that UW is replacing a ton on OL isn't true.
The highest rated PFF tackle and Center are both returning UW guys. The other tackle started several games after the 'alleged' Horni punch by the ex starting RT who's now off to the NFL. The noob stepped in and did so well, fans wouldn't be shocked to see him be an early entry NFL candidate.
Our WR's are fine unless we're playing top 5ish secondaries aka Mich last year and OSU 2017. No one in the West is that caliber.
I mean like I said, maybe you guys win. Idk. But it wouldn't be a routine thing imo...it'd be more like MSU/PSU/MICH where year to year you have no clue who wins the matchups between those 3.
Lol I'm not talking ****. I talk **** on Soundoff but just chat on other boards.

Haha. Don't forget Jake "soon to be the best B1G TE and Alvarez's grandson" Ferguson. Both of our cornerbacks will play in the NFL. I doubt they will have a problem with Wiscons receivers.. You have a running back.
You guys can keep your QB, I’ll definitely take A Martinez or Luke McCaffery over him anyways. Both have he arms just like him but AM and LM can take off like off like jet when the heat bares down on em.![]()

I think the entire B1G is interested in seeing what Wisconsin looks like with a real QB, just like we're all curious to see what Frost does year 2 in a P5.
Shhhhh! Don't tell him about Logan Smothers.
You might be right but I'll take my chances, lol. We couldn't throw near the sidelines regularly with Hornibrook last year out of fear of the pick 6. We should be able to throw the entire route tree now even if Coan somehow wins the job. I can't imagine the fan reaction if it's not Mertz though. You guys can keep your QB, I’ll definitely take A Martinez or Luke McCaffery over him anyways. I’ll will say this. I’d rather see the Vadgers....oh uh...I mean Badgers get a good QB and load up on some talent like we are. Just as long as Iowa Suckeyes keep sucking and getting those 2 and low 3 star players. Then I’m happy, It should always be Wisconsin or Huskers for the top west team, period.
Not sure when I gave that impression, I have always thought class size is important. In fact I looked at TO's recruiting classes once and found that only 50% contributed on the field. This was Pelini's biggest issue imo he never took full classes, he did recruit some talent just not enough of itHere is the weird thing. Like it or not Wisconsin has flat owned us since we joined the Big10. In order for this program to move forward we need to change that trendSince when do we discuss Wisconsin in this board?
