Those laws were instituted specifically to punish people producing and circulating pornography depicting sex acts with children and to try to protect children. There are whole units in I believe every state who have monitoring systems set up that gather and alert them to hits on child porn websites. The officers come in the morning and see how many hits they got over night then they go get the warrants. I have a friend who's a retired cop who did that for our area. It's amazing the number of people who will click on those websites. IF I remember correctly he told me that in one minimum security prison in our area that there were over 400 people incarcerated for internet child porn and it's literally from all walks of life and professions.

Wouldn’t be the first time someone was used to further someone’s career sadly, based on what was presented I think it’s unlikely but not unheard of.

It absolutely does define his character. He felt it was more important to denigrate and intimidate her than it was to just move on after she denied his advances. That shows a lack of character.

Good luck to him, because he won't be playing here.
That may be, but only b/c of a PR backlash.

well he might be in jail for a year, so technically he doesn't have to be kicked off the team, it will just take care of itself.

I think you may have replied to the wrong post but your idea has certainly crossed my mind. Somebody in the prosecutor's office went to the media.

Weird situation all around. If it were a text/video message, it would still be on the device that received it. The only way I can think of that they wouldn't still have it would be if it was sent using snapchat or something. It's also kind of weird that they tried to get him to send it again, like they realized that they could set him up or something. Baffling as to why the chick would reach out to him after finding out that he got a scholly at a major football school. Also weird that the step mom didn't try to stop the conversation from turning sexual, but then turned around and tried to get him to send the vid again.

I would guess mom didn’t see the Instagram stuff? Maybe they deleted the video because she didn’t want her daughter to keep watching it,then realized the evidence was gone and hoped he would resend it?

The very fact that he got angry and sent her the video with the disgusting caption after she rebuffed him...is pretty much proof that MW is guilty of having poor character. Period.

You can't just get angry at someone that doesn't want to go out with you and have a tantrum and lash out like a child and get away with it. Whether she is guilty of consent is immaterial to what should happen to MW. She'll be judged separately for her actions.

The sooner he is gone from the team, the sooner we can move forward and the University can distance itself from this incident, and limit collateral damage.
Considering that the University of Oklahoma re-instated a guy who beat the hell out of a woman, I wouldn't be so sure that Washington's days at NU are over with over a video and some mean words. I'm not saying that's right. I'm just saying that it might turn out that way.

No, if Frost is consistent, he won't want the kid in his program, because he wants kids of good character in his program.

If Frost were to allow him to stay in the program, he is going to get crucified.

Fair enough, so I did. But it's still true, your opinion is wrong and indefensible. Look I don't know how many ways I can put this, so I will put it in the simplest terms I can. You guys were of the opinion that it couldn't have been rape because she didn't struggle. So let me ask you are you a woman? If so, have you been raped? And even if you answered yes to one or both of these questions, that does not exonerate you. If yes to both, if you struggled, does that mean her situation was the same as yours and is she required to react like you for it to be rape? If your answers, not a woman and not raped, then you will most likely not ever know what it feels like to be a woman being raped. So honestly, I could not care less what your opinion is on how women should respond to being raped! It would appear that we won't agree on this, so it is pointless to continue discussing this topic. So I bid you adieu!
Not to quibble, but I don’t think the main argument is that it wasn’t rape because she didn’t struggle. That’s incredibly disingenuous for you to paint it that way.

The main argument is that it wasn’t rape because the police saw the video in question and didn’t arrest the boys in the video for rape. If it was rape, why were they not arrested?

This is a bad deal no matter how you slice it. Just recognize that those questioning the rape claim aren’t saying she didn’t struggle. It’s much deeper than that.

Do you want to take a swing at Why the police did nothing after viewing the tape? I would love to hear your enlightened view.

The video Washington sent was allegedly 10 seconds long, if that was the whole video, and what the police saw it would likely be impossible to determine consent or assault and becomes he said she said.

I voted yes, and here is why. Frost said, "“And I’ll tell you this right now — if there’s anything negative about women, if there’s anything racial or about sexuality, if there’s anything about guns or anything like that, we’re just not going to recruit you, period. Piece of advice for you — what you put on social media, that’s your résumé to the world. That’s what you’re trying to tell the world you’re all about. That’s how you’re advertising yourself. Be smart with that stuff.” While I don't think the incident is a dismissable offense really when I step back from all the legalities and look at it as a dumb kid thing, Frost set himself up by this quote, so he has to pull the trigger or come across as a hypocrite.

Another thought is Avery Moss was canned by the university for wagging his weenie, and this is IMHO worse.

And one more thought, what exactly is an adult? At 18 you can join the army, vote, ruin your life with student loans, and be tried as an adult, but can't drink and the cops call your parents if you get a DUI. At 21 you can drink, but have to wait to 25 to rent a car and are deemed incapable of getting your own health insurance. I liked it better in the old days when you were an adult at 18 period.

Awesome. It’s great to have another reason to hope for Mo to stay on the team outside of my opinion of what a justifiable punishment should be. It’d be a great loss to the board, but somehow it’d find a way to carry on. This is all under the assumption that you wouldn’t spend time on a fan site for a program that you have no faith in and don’t agree with their decisions.

Thank you for your opinion. I don’t think a poor decision by a teenager towards an ex defines ones character. What he did was malicious, but unless he viewed it as rape and was just sending it to hurt her then I don’t think he deserves to be booted. The article I read she was contacting him and the video was in response to her reaching out to him. Not just him sending it randomly out of no where.

He was mentored by former NFL players at Trinity Christian for a year (including Deion Sanders), yet still sent vulgar texts to an ex-girlfriend and got expelled from the school.

He's been mentored by our coaches and support staff for half a year, and is still making vulgar social media posts.

Despite all of these positive male role models in his life, he has still repeatedly displayed poor character. I hope he can mature and turn his life around, and I'm sure another program will give him that chance, but I believe his playing days at Nebraska are probably over.

It’s all related to one instance, not repeated incidents of poor character. I think you maybe reaching on how much of a mentor a coach you barely know outside of one season of football could have on someone. Especially if that someone is a celebrity with everyone grasping for their attention. If a kid passes his classes and shows up for football related activities thats enough for a coach to tell a recruiter he’s a good kid without knowing much about him outside of the football field.

Which is why I find it hard to digest Husker Todd’s bluster that those claiming it wasn’t rape must be because she didn’t struggle. How does he know it’s rape if the police can’t even determine that it’s rape? And he’s calling peoples’ opinions garbage and calling others trash.

I know your feelings, and I get it. And I agree with a lot of it, probably even most of it when I take the red glasses off. I’m trying to be objective.

But I do think it isn’t as black and white as some are claiming. If so, he would already be gone.

What to address here first. Dude, the guy I was responding to literally said,"If there was any indication of her fighting or struggling before, during or after. There would have been charges pressed". So yes he and others have pointed out that she didn't struggle as a means to discredit her claim. Why were they not arrested? Because she didn't report the assault, so if they base it off the video then no they won't with out a claim of assault. That doesn't mean it wasn't assault, it only means no report was filed. It is interesting to note that the latest info from the Omaha World Herald article, one of the investigators is quoted referring to it as an sexual assault. Now her detractors are using the description of the 10 second video, let me repeat that 10 seconds, to justify their claims that she is lying. So let's take a moment to ponder what might have happened before the video was being shot. Could 2 guys have made a 15 year old girl feel intimidated into doing what they told her. Now I'm not saying that this absolutely happened by any means, I submit that this is how a rape by 2 individuals could be committed. And I think some were a little quick to just summarily discredit her claim.

So I guess my point is, to you and anyone else I have debated on this issue, this is my take. To question why someone would not fight or struggle when being raped, then you fail to realize everyone is different and everyone has their own way of responding to danger. And let's not forget if this alleged assault is true her attacker was not 1 but 2. How would you have responded? If you don't understand how someone can be raped and not report, I would frame it for you this way. For the women who have been assaulted and choose to report, going through the whole process of the investigation and the trial, it can feel like being raped all over again. So it is hard to report and go through the scrutiny and having people question your actions, as if you are the guilty party.

@timnsun, alright had to edit because the post you made why I was typing referenced me and you miss represented what I have been saying again. Just as @husker2612 did earlier. I have not said they were guilty of rape at anytime, please click on my username and go to my profile page and look through all my post. I have repeatedly stated that it is alleged and only presented another possible scenario. But this does not fit your narrative or none of you have reading comprehension skills.

He made assumptions, I too take issue with a narrative that a video tells a complete story and my personal feelings probably make me assume others intent behind comments also. There have been a few posts that IMO are tasteless and awful by some in relation to the girl, maybe the person(s) made those comments trying to be funny or to lighten the mood, but tone is always difficult to determine in textual format.

Life is definitely grey most times, regardless of the outcome of Washington’s career I hope he learns from his mistakes and becomes a productive member of society.

A rapist would have to be a complete moron to tape it and then distribute it amongst their school. Lots of duaghters would have a hard time admitting to daddy that they got tagged teamed if it was consensual no matter their age, but especially if she was 15. You’re right that the video doesn’t provide enough to dicipher that it was consensual, but it also doesn’t show it wasn’t. The Shoplifting level probation given to the two men in the video and the girl being expelled infers to me that maybe the girl isn’t as innocent as you may think. We have all the info, but regardless we’d have different opinions on a warranted punishment.

Why? How does it matter in relation to Washington?
Well, a family with political clout in the community may have some influence on what or if legal action is pursued. You be ignorant if don’t think local politics has effect on district attorneys and the crimes they prosecute.

“Washington and the girl had dated in eighth and ninth grades, but had begun speaking again in 2018 on Instagram after the girl, then 17, congratulated him about going to Nebraska to play football.

The conversations turned sexual, the affidavit said, and Washington made sexual advances toward the girl. When she told him she wasn’t interested in a romantic relationship with him, he became “increasingly aggressive in his communication,” the affidavit said, and became “angry and mean.”

The girl blocked him on Instagram.

On March 2, about 8:43 a.m., the girl received a text message from Washington from a number that was later found to be registered to Washington’s adoptive father, the document says.

The text contained a 10-second video of a girl performing oral sex on one teen in the back seat of a vehicle, with another teen masturbating while watching her naked behind.

“Remember this hoe,” the text from Washington said, according to the affidavit.

The girl’s mother was able to see all of her daughter’s texts through an iPad, and she immediately told the girl not to look at the video because she believed it was a video of the alleged 2016 sexual assault.

About six hours later, the girl wrote back to Washington: “Send me that again I didn’t see it. Maurice?”
Washington replied, “Send you what”

The girl said, “That video”

He said, “You seen it”

She responded: “I Didn’t tho”

He said: “Oh I didn’t send nun”

A deputy with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office requested cellphone records from Apple Inc. on March 19 after speaking with the girl’s mother and viewing the video and texts”

I'm not trying to make excuses for Mo's behavior. However, California criminal code and laws are a joke. Proposition 47 decriminalized theft of less than 1K and individual drug use. You can break into a car in SF and shoot up heroin in public and only get a citation from a cop. You can also be an illegal immigrant in California and have more rights than citizen.

Fair enough, to a point. I agree that you presented another possible scenario. But while you were presenting that possible scenario you went scorched earth on those who referenced the video that the police had in their possession who questioned if it was rape, since the police did nothing about it. At the time, it hadn’t been reported that the video was just 10 seconds... I, and I would imagine others, assumed the video was longer so that the authorities could make a judgment on whether it was rape or not. You called them trash and their takes garbage.

If you merely wanted to present another scenario, you could have done it without the “I stand by my opinion, yours is garbage and you are trash” bit.

That’s probably what got me riled.

I don’t know the answer to all of this like you do. You’ve already kicked him off the team. In the end, that easily could still happen. We will know soon enough. If it does happen that way, feel free to call others’ takes garbage at that time.

You mean another reason other than the complete lack of objectivity on your part? You're just another of many that have allowed the love of a sports program to alter rational thought.

It seems he has officially been charged with possession of child porn. Though no arrest warrant has been issued.
My humble opinion is no. This is sounding more and more like his ex had a threesome, the boys spread it around to friends to brag. Mo being one of them one of those who was sent the video. She got caught and now to save embarrassment is claiming assault. The video should easily be able to tell if she was willing or not.
He tried to get back with her, she said she is not interested, he gets pissed. Sends the video and calls her a hoe.
This was a horribly stupid decision on his part. However, I would venture to guess if you go on any 14- 17 males phones you would find some sort of "child porn" on a high percentage of them. Mo shouldn't be labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life, nor have to suffer the rest of his life for a stupid teenage decision.

I hope you never criticize a certain Pol who CNN obsesses over every day

I voted No. If Scott knew about it last year and nothing was done, then I'm good. Scott is likely channeling his inner Tom. If Scott is a Tom understudy, spoiler alert: He is, he's definitely a believer in second chances. Let Mo take a punishment and lets move on.

In today's atmosphere, its harder to Tom though. Tom always had a way about him. Scott does too; no doubts that Tom helped him on this.

He needs to go. Treating women this way isn't something you "cure". It points straight to a fundamental weakness of character. If you feel so strongly that he needs a second chance, he can get it somewhere else, not here.

People who have zero first-hand knowledge of the situation should NOT speculate and they should just let the legal process take its course. IF you have that personal knowledge then you should provide your phone number and contact information to the authorities instead of posting on a message board.
