Have we ever fired a coach mid game?

,
Didn't Moe Iba have his resignation letter in his coat pocket, and present it to the AD after his last game?

What is the deal with Copeland? It's like he is sleep walking out there on both ends. He can kiss whatever shot he had at the NBA goodbye with this effort.

If they lose to Pedo St... What that will make them 1-4 in the Big 10 rip the band aid off **** can Miles make either Armon Gates or Mike molinari interim coach see if that lights a fire or just move on

Because tonight would be a great place to start...

Miles has NO INFLUENCE ON THIS TEAM....

I don’t know how you would know or measure his influence on the team. Given that he recruited the guys, leads practice, sets the game plan, and is ultimately responsible for everything about the program, I’m comfortable postulating that his influence is significant.

I think that is part of the problem. He figured out he has no shot at the NBA. I hope he's getting a masters degree so he can get a better job when he's done. The only guy playing minutes on this team right now that has any shot at playing in the NBA is Roby IMO. We've got better talent than we've had in a long time but Palmer is a late 2nd rounder at best. He just doesn't play with the intensity you have to have.

I’m completely baffled.
One quote of his his first year I think was "My mom asked me why I yelled and swore at my team in practice. I told her because it worked". Maybe that approach doesn't work with college kids anymore? You might be able to get away with that at Southwest Minnesota State but I think the tendency is for that to wear off very quickly then all you're left with is a bunch of guys who hate your guts and tune you out.

Let the record show I have been saying Nebraska should fire Tim miles 2 years
we had much bigger problems in our athletic department than Tim Miles 2 years ago and who knows NU could still go on a run this year. We've got a couple of guys who are sick and the starters played too many minutes tonight. PSU clearly was playing harder than us. Was that coaching or are there more of our guys battling that bug than Nana? I don't know. We'll see how things play out.

It's not exactly something that you advertise, but there are more than a few guys on the team sick or just getting over being sick. And it's not just the sniffles. Both Iowa and PSU modified their offensive strategy to take advantage of the fact that we have a number of player who are running out of gas after a few minutes. This is just a guess, based on what I know, but I have a feeling that Amir would have played only a couple of minutes tonight to ease back into the game had other players been healthy.

Yes, the difference was as noticeable as between black and white.
Bird was a phenomenal player but I had been a Celtics fan since the 60s when I used to watch them with my dad on Sundays. NBA basketball turned in to a wrestling match really during that Laker/Celtic Bird/Magic time period and it just lost me. Dr J was an artist but he would get clocked every time he tried to go to the hoop today.

I was born too late to appreciate the '60s Celtics teams on a personal level but I've researched them quite a bit, read books, watched as many clips as I can find, etc. The '80s NBA will always be my golden era but it definitely got out of hand during that time and through the '90s with regards to what defenses could get away with.

The NBA has since corrected and now overcorrected for that imo, but the game is more enjoyable to watch than back when the Bad Boy Pistons or Pat Riley's Knicks would win 89-78 because they could clothesline anyone going for a layup. Nowadays, a guy like Dr. J would actually be much more free to do his thing. Really makes you appreciate Bird's ridiculous efficiency given the era he played in.

4 of 5 starters played at least 38 minutes and the 5th starter played 34 minutes. The bench (3 players) accounted for 13 minutes and one point. The opponent was Penn St. Seriously!?!?

Of course, all of the players aren't necessarily unmotivated. They're probably exhausted and it's tough to motivate when you only have 5 or 6 players on the roster.

The lack of a bench and a couple of big men is all on Miles' lack of recruiting. He's in his 6th or 7th year. What more proof do we need to be shown? Show his *** to the door!

Palmer is one of the issues. He's exhausted from taking so many shots and floating the perimeter waiting for his next shot. He plays defense only when it's convenient. He launches balls like it's a casual shoot around.

I like Roby. He acts like he gives a damn. The other guys act like they're waiting for the NBA to come calling. Good luck with that.

Miles is coaching like this is his last year and he's squeezing every bit out of the starters and not worrying about player development for next year. This is make or break and I think he knows it.

To answer your question, the fans have fired every coach in every sport thousands of times by halftime (maybe even before that), but I don't think the AD has ever followed through. At least not publicly.

I'm guilty myself, by the way.

I always thought Osborne made his final decision about BillyC during that CU game in '07.
