That we had players out partying Fri. night - without the coaches knowledge? That would explain a lot about their performance Sat.

That group of players jumping around wild on the sideline look like partiers. Maybe they were on a bender.

It wouldn't surprise me by any means. I would recommend a bit more proof however. Even a, my brother saw ..... at this party would be better. Did you hear this from somewhere? Or is it just speculation and assumption?

Guy on another site claimed to have the all-famous "insider" information. So many of those stories are just blow, but this guy is usually pretty straight. That's why I was wondering if anyone else heard anything to confirm it. He said the coaches would flip out if they found out about it.

College kids, specifically athletes, that are getting their education for free are expected to have a level of commitment that is all in....if this is true I would boot them from the team.

Unless it has changed, everyone stays at the hotel except for dudes that are not playing, like that can't play. And even that might be wrong.

There is a reason that they stay at the hotel...if they didn't I know I (just like all of us) would go out "for a little bit".
Glad I went to the bottom of this thread to see your post because I was going to post the same. Everybody should know from the Akron game threads that the team stays at the same lodging the night before a game. If someone would be brave enough to try and sneak out, party, and sneak back in with all the security guards..... good luck with that.

I don't recall which pre-game radio show it was on, but one of the hosts or a guest on who I assume would know stated that only about 55 guys stay at the hotel. Seemed like it was essentially the guys who would make a road game stay at the hotel.

It might be! I really don't know for sure.

Honestly, I don't really care all that much. I am thinking "Hmmm, would I do the same thing?" Yes...I would. If I thought I could go out for a bit, have a few drinks, get some tail...yeah I would go out...even if we had a game the next day. Especially if I probably wasn't playing. I know it sounds "selfish" but I think it is honest.

Ha...No kidding!

"Those players should only eat, sleep, lift, study film...NOTHING ELSE...Just like the 90's teams"

Yeah...cause when I was there I NEVER saw any of the 90's players out partying...fighting...chasing beave.

But they only are held accountable for 15-18 weeks a year...or about 50% of the year. The other 60% of the year they can do what they want. The average college kid has to go to school, get an actual useful degree, and work multiple jobs to pay for their schooling or accessories for schooling. The # of college students who can successful party on the weekends is relatively small. And a normal college kid can't take 18 weeks off of work on the weekends to party. The kids are here to play football and prepare for the NFL. Obviously none of our guys are good enough to take a "break" and shouldn't be at this point in the season. And if they are, remove their scholarship, let them go back home and party.

I get what you are saying...but if I am on the team and I know that I am probably not playing on Saturday unless it is a ****-show of a game...and then my friends text me up and some girls text me up...I am going out.

You're never too old to get a .44 in your face from a man who cares....I would not recommend sleeping with somebody's wife, crimes of passion carry less sentencing.

Even God says so..."For jealousy arouses a husband's fury, and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge." Proverbs 6:34

Not that revenge is condoned but you know, rust appears when moisture is present...

No offense to you, but I wouldn't want you in my program if I were Frost. I get you point of view on it, but that is what we need to get out of the system. If this is big for you, I don't need to be at NU on my team. The hard part is college is a time for a lot of folks to finally get away and rebel, only to try and be caged.

I don't often agree with JRE, but in this case, I do. You will NEVER eradicate that element from any program. The scout team guy, who is redshirting or just won't play, does his work M-F. You can want him to not go out or whatever, but it is a futile battle. I would bet you a significant amount of money, that during bye weeks, even some starters will partake in a bit of fiesta time.
It happened when I was around in the early 90's, it happened when my nephew was there in the mid 2000's and it would/ will happen now.

I didn't say it doesn't happen. When I was in school in the early 2000's I went out with a lot of these guys. Bye weeks I really don't give two ***** about. I know you aren't going to eradicate it, and I get it as they are kids. Just saying if I were Frost I'd say stop of GTFO. Need to start at least trying to be more serious about football.

2 starters on the UCF Defense were seen partying 2 nights before the Peach Bowl, if you have swag a little crown isn't going to hurt

Yep...I was going to say that as well...I was there in the mid 90's and the best players on the team were out ALL THE TIME...drinking, chasing beaver, fighting, smoking (cigs), chewing...but guess what...come Saturday they kicked ***. No one is kicking "those guys" off the team...

Also, ouch! You could have left that part out.

You are trying to correlate serious about football and hanging out with friends and chasing tail?

I could go to a party, try and get laid, maybe even have a drink or two, go home get 8 hours sleep and still arrive on time for a mission briefing. I am pretty sure I was serious about defending my country.

Shoot, just look at all us dorks on this site while (most of us) we are at work. We are not giving 100% to our jobs...just like Johnny Football Player might head out to grab a beer, shoot pool, chase some beaver.

The guys are not Football Robots.

If you watched any UCF games, they would do the sideline dancing stuff. Only difference is that they are good and we're still learning how to be good.

Good for you. Most of it comes down to a lot of these kids can't go out, chase tail, and have a couple drinks. They end up drinking too much, and then doing something stupid. That is the whole the point. It's one thing if we were winning and you don't have to be strict. These kids are used to coming and going whenever they want, and that needs harnessing in.

Don't get me wrong. I was in college and get where the kids are coming from. But from where we currently sit, I wouldn't want kids who are more worried about some puss then trying to win games no matter where there place is on the depth chart unless they are red shirting. If I'm the coach I want kids who are basically 100% locked in looking for a championship. There is plenty of times to get laid during the week, and after the game. Why the need to do it Friday when you should be locked in.
