Not really a great time to be looking for a coach. We hit the jackpot with Frost but after Kelly Frost and Jimbo it was slim pickings for everyone else.
The 2 years prior to Morris' arrival, Clemson went a combined 15-12, including a record of 6-7 in 2010. Morris introduced a hurry-up, spread offense that helped Clemson to a 42-11 mark over the next four seasons.

We would be in a Tennessee-like situation if Frost wasn't sitting there waiting to come home. We are very lucky
That guy has a fun offense to watch in action. I think he could do well at Arky but he's probably going to need some different players in the program. I'd assume the boss hog down there had a heavy roster as well..
He was a good offensive coordinator, but he's 14-22 as a head coach. If we hired a coach with that record, a lot of people here wouldn't be happy.
He was a rock star offensive coordinator for a powerhouse program who took over an AAC team that went 1-11 before he got there and built them up to 5-7 and then 7-5 and bowl game from the AAC in just 3 years. If this was a blind taste test, some might say his resume bears some resemblance to another head coach that has been discussed on this board.
Dont bring facts into this. And for anyone who is about to say “well, that was at SMU and you have to look at what he walked into”, remember that is pretty much how we tried to rationalize Riley
Who? Frost took 0-12 UCF to an undefeated record and a championship in two years. Big difference

The things I've been reading say that you need to look beyond his record as a head coach. I'll agree that's true to some extent here because I know he was considered an up-and-coming coach when he was OC at Clemson. But you are correct that if we had hired a head coach with a record well below .500, people would have been pretty critical.
He'll get Arkansas back into recruiting East Texas hard. Which is what they need.

No, I think our psychotic fans would have run him off already if he did not hire Frost.

my sister-in-law had a moose in her front yard in calgary. and no accident.
once we were traveling on the cabot trail and we happened upon a bull moose munching on some wild berries. and thankfully, no accident.
when you can hear them breathing, you realize there is a lot potential.
I like Morris, and I think he is a good coach, but he is jumping in to the SEC West. His first 3 SEC conference game next year are @Auburn, Texas A&M and Alabama.
We will see how he does, maybe his Texas connections can help get him so recruits that can compete in the SEC.
Also, I would say I would have taken a guy like Morris instead of our previous 3 head coaches.
