I don't think the Christian fundies were behind this book being "burned".

View attachment 19896

I dont think that book was burned, literally or figuratively, by the left. Thats based on, well reality. The company announced they were pulling that book along with others. And thats after having had multiple revisions of images through the years to make some pictures incrementally less offensive.
If a company decides to not produce a product, is that a form of burning it?

Edited to add- I dont know why you have a pic of that song. Its a song that I dont listen to. Am I supposed to react to it or something?

Maybe your reality because you are part of the left. The company pulled it because if it didn't they would face a public shaming campaign about how they have damaged young children's minds for being insensitive and offensive.

Dumb 17 of the year right here. Don't guess it ever crossed your mind that a group of people can be both ruthless barbaric ******** and at the same time roll out cutting edge technological advances and almost conquer the world? Ask WWII vets who fought in Africa who they most feared but also respected for his tactics and they will tell you Rommel. Were our soldiers nazi sympathizers?

I thought you were talking about China for a moment. Of course they haven't tried to take over the world and exterminated a few million people but give them time. Bill Maher was fawning over their new infrastructure and mega structures. Too bad about that pesky human rights issue.

And as usual, you make claims about someone’s post that they never said, and then argue against them. You love to do that. I never mentioned Hitler. I simply asked if everything Bill Cosby ever did was terrible because he is a terrible person.

My Bad, You replied to a post about admiring Hitler, taking about admiration, in a whole thread on how great Hitler was, I missed it.

It's a grey world, but I wouldn't be the one that stood up to say "you stop talking bad about Bill Cosby".

If it comes out Jeffrey Epstein donated a billion $ to St Jude, will you think he is a "good guy"?

As to the competent leader question. I don't think it can be argued that Hitler was a skilled orator, manipulator and had the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to lead. But my point was any random leader in german history has lead "astonishing technological advancements". Hitler was only special in wanting to dominate the world and kill all people he thought were "sub-human"

You know that the people that own Dr Seuss, are the ones that decided not to sell it anymore. You gonna get all mad when McDonalds stops selling the Mc Rib? Or when Popeyes stops selling the spicy Flounder sandwich? Same thing. They own the publishing rights, they get to decide if they want to sell the book or not.

I didnt see them blame 'the left' for their decision. I also didnt see 'the left' threaten a public shaming campaign.
I am not on social media, I dont watch daily opinion news shows, and I dont listen to liberal talk radio(i assume it exists, but thats a guess). Point being- I am not tuned into what the current threats are for 'the left'.
What group(s) threatened a public shaming campaign? I wonder why it was suddenly going to happen too- like why March of '21 for that campaign of shaming?

If Epstein donated $1 billion to St Jude, I would say that was a good action. I would not say he was a good guy. Hope you can understand the difference. And to help you avoid more confusion, I am also not praising Hitler or Epstein in this post.

Yes, trying to make a book unavailable because of its content is what is generally meant by book burning in a digital age. So when the copyright holder stops producing it and large companies try to stop resale of existing books on their platforms because of ideological reasons, they are basically book burners, just with updated means.

That's not what Dr. Seuss Enterprises said. They said the books portrayed popel in a way that was hurtful and wrong. https://www.seussville.com/statement-from-dr-seuss-enterprises/

There has been and was not "public shaming". That's a lie.

Dr Seuss was a Liberal. An Anti Fascist. and thought the Un american Activities committee was a the biggest threat to america, and donated money to Planned Parenthood.

Do you mean like they "helped" Obama when he used them against Trump?

You got any indictments for that? Watergate had 70.

The GOP had power to do investigate that for 4 years. And nothing came out.

So come with some facts and not something you heard from Rush, or The My Pillow guy.

My father crossed the channel right after D-day with his light bomber squadron to set up air fields. He was a motor pool Sargent and had a real appreciation for precision machinery and tools. He said until the day he died that that the Germans had no peers as tool makers, engineers and manufacturers of machinery. He sent some captured German tools home from Belgium that my brother still has today...you would still be hard pressed to find better even today.

Except that's not what they said.

So until you find something that says they made that decision for the reasons you say, I'm gonna roll with their actual words...

And call yours lies.

And what else are they going to say? If you come across on the wrong side of political correctness, well you might be branded as offensive, not caring, insensitive, or whatever else may apply.

There has been and was not "public shaming". That's a lie.

I didn't say there WAS public shaming, I said there would have been had they not pulled it. If you're going to call me a liar, at least get my words right and don't twist them into something that is a lie.

But on a serious note, if someone is a terrible person, does that mean everything they ever did was terrible? Take Bill Cosby for example, was it terrible when he advocated for minorities to be treated equally in the medical field or when he paid for scholarships for many minorities? Were those terrible actions?
That reminds me of a joke that Norm MacDonald told paraphrasing
I was riding around the town that my uncle John lived his entire life in and he started pointing out things that he accomplished. “See that bridge over there Norm? I built it with my bare hands and now the whole town can cross that river and go to other towns. When I walk down the street, do they say hey, there goes John the Bridge builder? No. See that canal? I engineered it and now 100’s of farms get water for their plants and do they say hey there goes John the great engineer? No. See that school? I volunteered as the basketball coach there for 15 years and we won 5 state titles. Do they say hey there goes John the great basketball coach? But you 17 ONE horse!”

When is a company allowed to choose to produce or not produce their own product?
And if this is what you call book burning in the digital age(ironic since these are paper books), then a publisher of thought and content isnt ever allowed to stop producing that thought and content without making them 'book burners' by your definition.

It reminds me of my grandfather. He served in the Pacific and was amazed at Japanese engineering when he saw it up close. He said as soon as Japanese engines were sold in the US he’d own one. He owned Toyota’s from the 70’s until the day he died and always told me to do the same. I’ve been a “Japanese import” owner my entire life and never regretted it.

Ebay also stopped auctions of the product at the same time. Just like the rest of big tech it's the same leftist cancel culture.

And before you say they have a first amendment right to do so look up Marsh v Alabama. Big tech is the new public square.

Seems to me the publishing company for Dr. Seuss books figured out a clever way to get the same people buying up all the ammo to buy their books again. Bet their sales have skyrocketed since they implemented this clever con marketing strategy.
