96% of Covid deaths were with Covid (+2.6 underlying conditions) and Not from Covid.
Death Numbers are so inflated.

The following are the top underlying medical conditions linked with COVID-19 deaths.

Influenza and pneumonia
Respiratory failure
Hypertensive disease
Diabetes
Vascular and unspecified dementia
Cardiac Arrest
Heart failure
Renal failure
Intentional and unintentional injury, poisoning and other adverse events
Other medical conditions

According to the CDC, 9683 died in the United States with only having COVID-19 listed on their death certificate.

We are blaming the camel’s broken back on the final straw, not the ton they were already carrying, and have shut the entire world down until all straws are eliminated.

I was expecting this to be a conservative slant on data. But it appears your conclusion is dead on. It’s time to open everything back up. The Swedish model was right all along. The elderly and immuno-compromised should self-isolate as much as possible. Everyone else needs to get back to work and school.

Those are deaths from Covid. You realize that people can live long lives with managed heart disease, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, etc. That probably describes a large minority of people on this board. When they get covid, their chances of dying quickly become much greater. This isn't hard to understand.

Next thing you'll learn is people don't die from AIDS.

They die because AIDS cripples the body's immune system that allows other maladies to kill the person.

There have been 170,000 deaths in the US attributed to pneumonia per CDC data from Feb 1 to Aug 28. Almost 100,000 of those deaths do not have COVID-19 listed as well as contributing to the cause of death.

In 2018 per CDC data there were no more than 60,000 deaths in the US for the entire year that were attributed to pneumonia.

I wonder why so many more people of dying of pneumonia this year.

This post is going to go over well.

I alluded to this and was chastised. My only data was from a nurse who told me that the numbers were wrong. But what does she know with such hysteria around.

I apologize for those who have lost to someone who had this virus but it would be nice to see the numbers where this killed a person who was not living with some other serious problems.

FYI. My nurse wife has diabetes and vascular disease so I am worried about this **** myself when she goes to treat people every day at work and I worry every test she has each week.

Point proven from the other thread. The fear mongers aren't happy the public is finally being told you won't die the minute you get Kung Flu.

Holy hell. It’s not Trump’s economy.... It’s the UNITED STATES’ economy. It’s your family’s, your neighbor’s, your friend’s, your town’s, your state’s.

I really despise people, that in this mess, look at a down economy and hope it persists. Really despise them. “I hope people continue to struggle so my man can elected!!!”

No doctor or pathologist or whatever else, but this conclusion seems similar to how AIDS is viewed/reported.
It also largely seems like a distinction without a difference.

Im not against the continued process of opening back up, but I wouldnt be surprised if the bad numbers rise in accordance with opening back up.
Also, its disingenuous to call this a scam.

Is the flu reported the same way? Other SARS Viruses? I mean, AIDS is completely different. It's a chronic disease, not an acute one. Covid in no way resembles AIDS.

Outstanding post. The “6%” is great example of how awful the Alt-Right media is today. Especially when the market they’re service is constantly looking for a message of conspiracy theories and victimization.

This came from a bunch of a QAnon conspiracy followers who indicated the “the CDC had quietly updated the deaths to admit only 6% died from COVID”. Which then got picked up by Alt-Right news outlets (Gateway Pundent, Clay Travis, etc.) which was then being retweeted all afternoon by the President of the United States.

Twitter deleted Trump’s retweets and quite a bit of traditional media outlets spent yesterday trying to clean up the mess. But, unfortunately that only feeds the flames. Because those Alt-Right websites end up saying “Twitter doesn’t want you to know the truth!” And when you have been told over and over and over again that the Mainstream Media is victimizing Republicans, or the CDC is victimizing Trump, people end up falling for it.

I wonder what the exact definition of scam would be ? Healthcare facilities inflating numbers on purpose in an effort to get the extra corona money ? Or the media inflating numbers and sensationalized it for their own agenda ? But wait....that would be disingenuous. Its just another virus and yes...survival of the fittest. If you are fat, old, compromised immune system, YOU self quarantine. Been saying this since March. Here it is....a dishonest scheme, a fraud " insurance scam ".

I understand the point of this post and I agree that we should have never shut down the way we did for something that is not deadly for the overwhelming majority of the population. However, I don’t like the argument if someone died with covid not from covid that it shouldn’t be counted. If someone has been overweight for 15 years and then got covid and died, it’s hard to say covid was not a factor.

If someone has lung cancer and then catches pneumonia and dies, should that not be counted as a cancer death? In my opinion, it should be counted as both cancer and pneumonia. Just like if someone dies with covid and they had diabetes.

That's just a little different. Aids actually creates the conditions for people to die, whereas COVID mostly takes advantage of them.

COVID is bad. Lots of people are dying that otherwise would not have died without COVID. The vast majority of those people are people that were going to die reasonably soon anyway. Close to half of them statistically weren't expected to make another year regardless. That doesn't make it much easier on the family, except for those that were wathcing their loved ones suffer before COVID. The ones that had comorbidities that were going to get them but not imminently, that's not any comfort at all. While it may matter from a public policy perspective that somebody's life expectancy was maybe five more years, from an individual perspective, five years is a **** ton of time. A lot of weddings, child births, graduations, etc. happen in five years, not to mention just everyday life and being with family and friends and working.

That said, at the end of the day, there is a lot of human misery "we" have "voluntarily" inflicted on the population, and it seems as certain as you can get with these things that likely we've done way more harm than good with our response, particularly with the heavy handed aspects of it. It's possible the self inflicted harm will be as great as the harm from the virus itself.

LOL! Cardiac arrest? Seriously?

Medical examiner: Let's see. The deceased suffered from sudden onset of cardiac arrest and was only later determined to be Covid 19 positive. COD, Covid 19.

A scam would be one that didn't kill my perfectly healthy cousin who I assure you was a healthy if older guy. He would have lived another 15-20 years but he dead now. Plus, put several of my friends in the hospital, kill thousands and thousands and thousands of compromised people and few healthy ones. I been in recovery myself since the spring and still can't breathe well enough to do much. Note: I tested negative for Covid but I believe I was over it before I tested and was left with pneumonia. I just didn't go to doctor for the first month or so, it was early on before we knew much about it.

This thing is running its course and seems to be slowing down but in no way was this ever scam. Was it sensationalized? Yes, but that's what news is today. FOX does it, CNN does it from opposing sides. They are in the "BUSINESS" of making money and if they sensationalized things they get clicks and views which = $$$$.

Scam indeed. If it kills someone you care about, what excuse you gonna make then?

Interesting opinion. I didn't know QAnon put out articles for the CDC***.

"Table 3 shows the types of health conditions and contributing causes mentioned in conjunction with deaths involving coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death. The number of deaths with each condition or cause is shown for all deaths and by age groups. For data on comorbidities, etc"

This is ridiculous misinformation. Of course most of the people who died of COVID-19 had underlying conditions. That's never been in question. By the way, most people who die of ANY virus have some underlying condition. Most people in the USA have some underlying condition.

It's okay for both of these things to be true:

1. Covid is not a hoax. It is real and can be deadly for older people and people who have underlying issues.
2. The impact of the virus has been dramatically overstated.

I'm sure the death toll is overstated. The reasons for that can range from incompetent to sinister.

I still want someone to tell me how masks are the solution for anything. There are spikes in European and Asian countries right now - in spite of mask mandates.

A mask is certainly a solution for how to reduce the odds of transmission when forced to be in a confined space with others.
There you go, I gave you a situation where a mask is a solution.

Masks have never been, and at this trend never will be, a solution for stopping covid. They simply reduce the spread. You know this, but you continue to demand that masks be more than what they are, so you argue.
If masks reduce the transmission by 15%, it seems worthwhile to wear one when inside and you cant distance. Clearly a mask isnt foolproof(this board proves that weekly), but if it helps then fine it should be done. There is no downside here.

No, you gave me your opinion on the subject. The numbers don't bear it out. There's no science that backs your opinion. The only science I've seen has demonstrated other health risks brought on by wearing them.

What QAnon latched onto yesterday was that this had "quietly" been updated by the CDC. In other words, the CDC knew this information was helpful to Trump and had did their best to delay and suppress it. That feeds that narrative of conspiracy theories and victimization. Obviously, that's false and dangerously misleading. But, it didn't stop that Alt-Right world from running with it.

We all know people aren't catching COVID and dropping dead where they stand. They're getting it, fighting it at home for a while, then ultimately dying in a hospital weeks later from a combination of factors. That's what the CDC is telling you. Look how far this Republican from AZ took this misinformation. This tweet is still pinned at the top of his profile:

You are the queen of dumb hypotheticals.

If my only options were to drink river water with or without filtering it thru a double cloth mask, then yes i would choose to filter it thru the mask.
No harm in running it thru the mask.

Thats a dumb hypothetical as it isnt applicable to how this all works.

It isnt simply my opinion. Its a conclusion drawn from testing. A mask blocks **** that would otherwise go out into the air around the sick person.
