Despite Pentagon statements that it disbanded a once-covert program to investigate unidentified flying objects, the effort remains underway — renamed and tucked inside the Office of Naval Intelligence, where officials continue to study mystifying encounters between military pilots and unidentified aerial vehicles.

Eric W. Davis, an astrophysicist who worked as a subcontractor and then a consultant for the Pentagon U.F.O. program since 2007, said that, in some cases, examination of the materials had so far failed to determine their source and led him to conclude, “We couldn’t make it ourselves.”

You want to talk about 2020 burying the lead... While we argue covid19 and soy boys setting American cities on fire the US government is finally conceding UFOs. The way 2020 is going I’m betting we get confirmation of intelligent alien life before New Years.

I hope this has a similar effect with Americans, cause I'm 17ing suck of watching our current news cycle in which some folks show rioting non-stop and some folks complain about rioting non-stop. Maybe aliens can bring us humans together for a bit.

I have mixed feelings about the implications of alien intelligent life. Either way, I'd love to know if it's happening.

I really don't expect that to happen until we enter the bottom of the 9th with the lead in game 3 in Omaha.

I've always been of the opinion that it would be arrogant to think that none of the other planets have life on them. But would that life be caterpillars or actually creatures capable of creating things like us or better? Who knows.

I dont want to encounter one, thats for damn sure. I think of it like being in the ocean. I know there are sharks there. I know some sharks come within feet of swimmers and no one ever knows. But some sharks attack...

There are plenty of scenarios where intelligent life potentially ends poorly for all of us.

Same here. I don’t know the odds, but with the number of solar systems out there chances are really good there is life. How complex it is can be up for discussion. I do know if intelligent life is advanced enough to travel light years to make it here, and they’re hostile, we’re ******.

Stephen Hawking believed if we found intelligent life that it would go similar to Europeans discovering America only we would be the Natives. They might view us as savages and wipe us out just for the Earth's resources.

1) It doesn't have to be an intergalactic threat to galvanize people. An international one would probably suffice.

2) Wtf is a soy boy?

3) If A.L.F ruins a CWS title for us, I will personally escort that cat-eating 17er to Carole Baskin's sanctuary for some poetic justice.

4) Life as we know it is extremely rare and difficult. Everything has to be just right, AKA Goldilocks Planet. The odds of other life is high based on the immeasurable size of the cosmos, but low based on the innumerable things that must happen for it to thrive.

5) I wouldn't want to meet one either, my first response would be to "choot em!" Or better yet, "Swing Away!" (Yes, I recently watched Signs)

6) I like lists...and boobs...and beer...and ellipses (Just for you, Pars).

There are 2 things I think about with this.

1) The aliens are not a threat to us: if there is more intelligent life out there, then they have known about us for years without any problem. So, I don’t know why they would start now. Government has just hid that for years to keep people from freaking out.

2) The aliens are a threat: government has known for years about other intelligent life but they are “looking into this” now because we are about to be 17d up by the aliens.

With that said, I just don’t put much stock in other intelligent life being out there. Obviously could be wrong but it just feels more like a conspiracy theory to me rather than an actual thing.

The pentagon has confirmed they have found craft that was not made on earth. Their words. If we cannot scientifically understand the dynamics of these craft then I'd say they are pretty much guaranteed intelligent. Further, assuming there is intelligent beings not living on earth who is to think they care about us or Earth at all. We could literally be an ant farm to them.

While we're here I'll drop a conspiracy theory based on the likelihood that we know there is something out there now and me being a southern guy with a judeo christian upbringing. In the bible there are numerous occurrences of the physical presence of god, angels, demons, spirits, etc... Outside of a few controversial "miracles" or insane people making claims that god sat next to them and talked, the real life physical occurrences have ceased to exist. What if this "Life" from other realms is that of the spiritual variety that is visiting us? During the cold war there were a ton of ufo encounters at military weapons facilities. Some of that is now declassified. This was happening in the US and Russia simultaneously. These UFO were screwing with the nukes and sometimes disarming them. Could those "aliens" not been spiritual beings coming down to tell us the nuclear holocaust is a bad idea? Just a thought.

https://www.history.com/news/ufos-near-nuclear-facilities-uss-roosevelt-rendlesham

In the 1960s and ’70s, repeated UFO sightings emerged at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, a storage site for nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). At one such alleged sighting in 1967, former Air Force Capt. Robert Salas says several of those missiles became inoperative at the same time base security reported seeing a glowing red object, about 30 feet in diameter, hovering over the facility. Salas, who commanded ICBMs as a launch officer and later worked in the aerospace industry and at the Federal Aviation Administration, told CNN the “missiles began going into what's called a ‘no-go condition,’ or unlaunchable.”

The Seroni know the answers to those questions. The Hrossa mostly make poetry and song, but aren't knowledgable like the Sorns. The Pfifltriggi would not be interested in the questions or the answers. But they would understand the mechanics.

It's the same. Angels or aliens, Christianity or Islam, all the religions came from the same story, we've spent our entire history killing each other over interpretations and nomenclature.

Pretty sure that's not their words? I think there are individuals that were at one time with the Pentagon that have publicly stated they looked at materials that they are convinced were not made on earth, correct?

Surely if the Pentagon itself were confirming, it'd make a dent in the news cycle, even in 2020, right?

No doubt intelligent life exists somewhere in this ever expanding universe.

But there ain't no damn way any of 'em are traveling at umpteen times the speed of light to visit this rock, unless they set up a base on Uranus a billion years ago.

We better just hope all of those UFO's the Pentagon has been catching on camera are from some other secret U.S. government agency.

I think it is more like how we now treat lions, gorillas, and uncontacted tribes. They observe and sometimes capture and study individuals, but for the most part, they just want to see how we can evolve.

My comments:

No doubt intelligent life exist somewhere in this ever expanding universe. - I suspect life is pretty common in the universe. Intelligent life is probably very rare or even unique to Earth. But until we have a sample size greater than 1, your guess is as good as mine, and both of our guesses are as good as the scientists searching for it.

But there ain't no damn way any of 'em are traveling at umpteen times the speed of light to visit this rock, unless they set up a base on Uranus a billion years ago. - People really don't understand just how true this is.

We better just hope all of those UFO's the Pentagon has been catching on camera are from some other secret U.S. government agency. - There is zero doubt that's what they are.

Will do. Just read some cliffs and it sounds interesting. Interestingly enough it slightly reminded me of Alex Jones on Rogan when he started talking inter dimensional commutations with spirits and demonic forces etc... Sounds like a trippy read

I know this isn't exactly what you asked for but I'd argue semantics. A astrophysicist from the program on the record with the NYT is essentially confirmation imo

Eric W. Davis, an astrophysicist who worked as a subcontractor and then a consultant for the Pentagon U.F.O. program since 2007, said that, in some cases, examination of the materials had so far failed to determine their source and led him to conclude, “We couldn’t make it ourselves.”

That's correct. There's been no official announcement from the Pentagon that they have craft that were not made on this earth. Chris Mellon, a former Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defense for Intelligence says some wild things, but he's not offcial. So does Harry Reid. The three Navy videos are acknowledged as unidentified, but not as alien craft. They just say they don't know what they are.

Here's an article from a respecible source, but the headline is a bit misleading: https://www.popularmechanics.com/mi...eUH2uwbKhdP0tXCAp-tdddF1SIKadPPm3oDtRs71rodlA

The window of contact is just too small given the time scale and size of the uni

universe. Alien contact is therefore extremely unlikely. If the universe is indeed 13.4 billion years old, you could have had an alien civilization last for say, 5 million years, and it's still a microscopic size instance in the universal timeline. It would take an extreme amount of luck to overlap that 5 million year existence with another advanced civilization that was close enough to make contact.

If humans don't crack the time travel problems, the chances of finding any EVIDENCE, much less any actual life, on another planet drops to near zero. We have to achieve something faster than light speed. It will likely have to be something akin to a worm hole, which at this time no one has any idea how to formulate the exotic matter needed to do such a thing, or how to control it.

A thought just occurred to me. Would a universe wide hyper advanced alien civilization break the Second Law of Thermodynamics?

As has been pointed out by others, life on Earth does not break the 2nd Law because the Earth is not a closed system, but the Universe (so far as we know) is.

Rumor is the Space force has been around for a long time. Trump just made it public when he said they were creating the Space Force.

Space Force was created to roll existing Air Force Space operations and cyber operations into it's own branch so technically it's been around for a long time, just not under the current banner.

One problem. The strategy since Lee Atwater in 1988 has been to polarize and emphasize it. Not just during campaigns 24/7/365. You better believe now nothing will bring us together as long as "good vs evil" is the marching orders on every issue, appointment, investigation, or legislation. It is true for both sides. Hell, 9/11/2001 was a brief moment when you consider how fast everyone went to their corners.

There is an opportunity though. Trump has emphasized the divide. If Democrats can use this election cycle to heal some of the divide rather than for vengeance and retribution by working with republicans to make the legislative process better, there could be a productive future.

If not, Washington is about to be the new Gaza Strip.
