What I’ve heard could be ******** but allegedly...a certain group that is holding the change up has a “bright” idea. They’ve decided that it would be a “unifying” idea to have the MS schools form their own league independent of the NCAA.

They’ve tried pitching around an idea of a bill forcing the public universities to fly the flag or funding will be removed (broken record). Keep calling your Senators and Representatives get this madness over with once and for 17ing all.

That is the most insanely idiotic thing that I’ve ever heard. Which means that it has a good chance of being true, knowing our idiot legislators.

So they want Mississippi institutions to secede from a union?

Brilliant idea. It’s not as if it were done 159 years ago. **

Jeezus, and I thought the current version of C-USA was a bad idea.

Insanity and any legislator promoting it should be removed from office for that reason.

Is it too late to propose a bill that requires every legislator to possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and to attend an Economics 101 course at a local community college?

I made one slight alteration to your otherwise splendid proposal.

He’s without a doubt one of the worst things to happen to the state this century.

This has Chris McDaniel’s fingerprints all over it.

I was just about to say the same thing. I’ve been listening to his daily Facebook updates just to know what we’re up against. Have not heard anything this insane but it wouldn’t surprise me with him and his crew.

Quite literally, that would be one of the absolute dumbest decisions that could be made. Outside of setting the universities on fire, I don't see another way to destroy them that effectively.

Well some of those same people would love for that to happen so it shouldn’t surprise you.

McDaniel is the epitome of a sleazy politician, and I say that as a Jones Countian. If the flag doesn’t change then you can point to him as the ring leader for the group that is keeping this from happening.

I’m telling you, the no votes are doing anything they can. They’re that desperate with this.

You know he’s upset over Johnny Magee’s executive order yesterday to remove all state flags from city buildings in Laurel.

It’s from someone who would know. I trust them on this kind of stuff.

I don’t know if I quite trust this part though. A part of me also thinks he’s glad that Magee did this because this just guaranteed him re-election in 2023.

Change the flag, and the schools will have no problem flying the new one.

Johnny Magee and Laurel are a prime example of the model all of the state needs to be following (looking at you Jackson). Everyone I talk to in Laurel respects Magee and like the way he works with the whites in town as well as the blacks. If I still lived there, and were in the city limits, I would vote for him.

WTA17? I would like to feel that this is to crazy to be real, but coming from Jackson, I fully believe it.

I agree. That said, we both know there are folks in Jones County whose response to this is that it’s just Laurel being Laurel.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a lot of fit pitching, to the hissy level, over the universities not flying the state flag. Maybe there has been behind the scenes.

IF they somehow don't change the flag, and IF they force MSU to fly it, I'm seeing something like the Stonehenge scene in Spinal Tap. We fly a 4" x 6" flag on a 40" flag pole. We can put it in a pile of manure somewhere on the South Farm. Hey, we're flying the flag, complying with the law.

I believe someone down there might have had those ideas, but I'm calling BS that any of those things are being taken seriously or see the light of day. I just refuse to believe decision makers can be THAT stupid. Keep the flag stupid? Sure. But legislate your universities drink cyanide stupid? Nah.

Look at their track record over the last 203 years.
