I’d strongly encourage all to listen to Steve Robertson’s thoughts on it.

As mentioned before there’s always more to the story. The dad never wanted him signing with us to begin with. I forgot about the drama they had on signing day. More than 1 player has been standing on the ledge since life became a little more inconvenient in January. The tweet only gave him a little push to go ahead and jump right in. Look for him to try to transfer to Ole Miss to please his dad which will be amazing irony.

They are athletes who didn’t like a tweet by our head coach. It’s not my place or yours to say how they should feel. If they don’t like it and want to move on they should but when idiots ***** about a players decision then they add to the problem. They don’t owe us anything and if they move on we find players who want to play here. Some of y’all need to quit thinking anyone should agree with you and maybe shut the hell up.
Sorry that was more meant to the people on Twitter directly attacking the players. It’s none of their damn business and what is funny the ones bitching the most probably have changed jobs multiple times. It’s all about fit, if a player feels uncomfortable then he has a right to move on and it’s not a right of any fan to **** on their personal decision. They look stupid and psychotic goin to the extreme to give their opinions

Yep I remember that. Seems he decommitted at some point then came back on signing day.

Is it just me or is this whole Leach tweet reaction just ridiculous?

Saw a post from Jamont Gordon calling for his job. I know it was said here, but these whiny bitches need to grow a pair and tuffin up. I’m over this countries population being offended by every 17’n thing. Jesus H

Rant over. Continue on

You posting this doesn’t help either side ‘move on’. The best thing for everybody is for this to go away sooner rather than later.

Come on bruh this ain't the younger generation trying to cancel Leach. They're too busy trying to cancel Justin Bieber and Billy Eillish instead. This is all boomers & millenials fighting here cause well they pretty much despise each other. That's never changing.

This board made you realize that? You are just associating one thing with another and finding connections.
I could do that with tons of things.
Ready?
Fox News
CNN, TWP, and MSNBC has made me realize that the conservative bias in news reporting has created a real issue in this country.

Total ******** both ways.

You need to add this as well.

I'm willing to chip in some $ to buy this POS a one-way-ticket out of the state. Can we take up a collection and buy this loser a bus-pass or perhaps a flight to Eastern Washington University, or Portland State?

Melt *****. This has nothing to do with "liberal bias" at universities and everything to do with a couple of journalists playing you like a fiddle, getting you all riled up over a bordline-non-existent "controversy" for your links, and you're happy to oblige them.

I pretty sure the nice Professor is extremely liberal and wrote a book on white privileged kids in a racist state. I'm pretty sure Sharpe is not a journalist.

You still don’t think Fab Lovett thinks it was racist? You can’t be helped.

Yeah and there are people who still think Elvis is alive. Like them, Lovett is wrong. It's ok for him to be wrong and people admit it. Now UNLIKE those people who still think Elvis is alive, it does not harm our university, or fan base nor our SOCIETY. What Lovett did and what has been pushed by certain people DOES harm our university, our fan base, and our SOCIETY.

- It hurts another mans life
- It puts him life in danger from idiots
- It hurts Lovett because now he has made his decision to go with that narrative knowing full well it was not racist.
- It hurts the fans because some fans need to be seen on social media as a stand by the player no matter what. It causes a divide.
- It hurts our university's image
- It hurts our recruiting
- etc....

All over something most everybody knows is just wrong. The issue with it all is that if we do not draw a firm line in the sand and let it be known that enough is enough, then the next time it's easy to move that line to a new absurd level.

The old "for every reaction there is an opposite and equal reaction" is kind of true. I see a nation tired of the the insanity where everything is subject to how a person feels and notion they can be militant over it. This is the reaction to a tweet and that reaction IS WRONG. So the danger is when people get fed up with it and push back to the opposite side because there are always those that keep pushing more. Then what?

And that's what you are seeing right now. The opposite reaction is getting more and more vocal. Go anywhere and read about it. The largest portion of people that are irate or "pissed" are those that know that tweet was not racist and KNOWS that a few people are trying to make it into that. Push back building from years of PC.

So you do or you don’t think F Lovett was offended by the tweet Bc of “racism”?

Just trying to figure out exactly where you stand on that specific point.

If the season doesn't get canceled, we're screwed. Leech needs to be calling players and creating a dialogue if not flat out begging for forgiveness. He better get off social media and set an example for the team.
It may have been an innocent move on his part, but it was also an idiot move. Should've had more sense than that.
And all you angry old white guys need to get woke. our players have opinions. Strong ones. Live with it or go play checkers with your old white friends while listening to American Family Radio.

One thing that's really been highlighted since we don't have sports, is that I miss the games but not the drama. Idaf what some 17 year olds opinion is and where they are going to school. Honestly if it wasn't for sports, most people wouldn't give a **** who these players are and what they do with their lives. Playing sports is a privilege, not a right. Hopefully this delay might make that more obvious to some.

Oh and if you have read Leach's book, it will snow in a Mississippi summer before he coddles players.

Leach needs to stop with the silly *** tweets and spend his time doing something else. Do I think it's racist? no but in 2020 it doesn't matter, people look for things to get offended by so they can get attention for themselves on social media. I have a daughter with down-syndrome, and I hear the R word a lot. Do I get offended, not if the intent isn't present. If the "intent" is there then you and I will have a big problem if the R word is used towards her or others...Leach had no intention of anything racist...time to move on...

Not literally "nobody," but the counter-reaction is 1000x greater or more than the original reaction that spawned it. The entirety of the accusations have been from one professor (who has since deleted it), Lovett (who is almost certainly just looking for an excuse to quit), maybe Jamont Gordon (can't verify that), and less than a dozen Tweeters who may be bots or Ole Miss trolls anyway.

If Horka doesn't write an article using context-less Tweets as his source, this doesn't get picked up by ESPN (who just relied on Horka's article and didn't do any independent verification) and it's over now. If anyone deserves rage, it's him and not random professors who had nothing to do with this, nor "millenials" or whoever everyone else is seething against.

No other SEC school would have their own statewide paper screw them like this. The Clarion Ledger is pathetic.

I agree that the Clarion Ledger is pathetic.

Why does Mississippi State grant press credentials to any reporter from the Clarion Ledger?

If I could, then I would deny all requests from the Clarion Ledger and not permit that reporter to attend any games unless he has a ticket.

If he has a ticket, then I'll let him through, but he will have to sit in that seat corresponding to the ticket and he won't be permitted to attend any of the press conferences.

It wasn't racist. But it was absolutely 100% insensitive.

If you think it was insensitive, that's your problem.

The word insensitive should be banned from the dictionary. It's been hijacked by too many victims who are looking to create a controversy to benefit themselves.

There was no motive or ill will. Those who find it insensitive have to stretch and contort their view of it to take it out of context and assume a racial intent that clearly is not there, or blame some ridiculous privilege.

This world is going to hell.

Bud, this is a hill that a lot of people are going to die on. Just because it's their right to be offended by any and everything in this world doesn't mean everyone else has to oblige them. I am fine with pulling for athletes who largely view the world differently than I do and probably vote very differently than I do. There comes a point where a line in the sand has to be drawn and for me this is it. I don't give a **** if the entire team quits over fans not standing for this faux outrage. I will take up fishing if I have to. Pulling for MSU to win sporting events has been an extremely large part of my life for as long as I can remember. I'm sure this will blow over, but anyone willing to transfer out because Of this harmless meme and the fan reaction to them being offended can leave. We have a national representative bowing down to the idiots though so I'm sure that will satisfy the masses.

Insensitive to what exactly?

A person's opinion that any noose used in any context is directly connected to lynchings that happened more than 50 years ago?

In my opinion, such an opinion is unreasonable and shared by very few (but vocal) people.

In my opinion, there is no need to be sensitive to such an opinion.

Like others have said in this thread, reasonable people who disagree with unreasonable "offended" people MUST stand up and say enough is enough.

Otherwise, the unreasonable "offended" people will push further and further.

"For evil to succeed, all it needs is for good men to do nothing." Not 100% sure who said this, but it's true.

I saw the tweet and laughed and honestly I don't see how anyone found it anything but funny. This forum had a thread a few days ago about issues staying at home with their spouse and no one was offended by that...it pertained to the exact same thing, which is dealing with being at home with someone that can get on your nerves. Anyone that saw his tweet as something else should be apologizing for having a thought that is totally disconnected from our immediate reality.

Meh, Steve is doing damage control There's some truth to his reporting, no doubt, but this is beyond that. This thing is front page ESPN now, that a lineman left after a Leach tweet. It's gotten out of hand.

I hope this idiot (Lovett) and his idiot dad end up at Ole Miss. I'd like to hear those morons explain that.

Agree.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Lovett transfers to Ole Miss?

I suppose Lovett is not offended by the overtly-racist affairs that have taken place at Ole Miss?

How could Lovett possibly reconcile his being offended by Leech's tweet and his not being offended by Ole Miss? I'd love to hear an explanation for that.
