A couple days ago, I sarcastically said Moorhead would somehow miraculously parlay the EB into an extension and a raise. The jokes on me...

Who thought we were really going to axe a second year coach who's had to deal with suspensions and had a 4M dollar buyout?

Message Board rumors are usually just that.

I never made a call on him being fired this past week bc my information isn't as connected as what must be at least 100 SixPackers have claimed, but boy was the smoke thick and black on here and over at Swan Lake the past week. Never seen anything like what we saw on the boards day before the EB and yesterday pre game.

I GUESSED he'd get another year a couple weeks ago in a thread I started with my reasoning being tutorgate.

Internet cred for many of y'all on the line now***

Something better happen soon.

OP prob doesn't know **** either.

I want a new coach. Well documented I jumped off the Jomo train during the UK game. I'm just real and it's hard for me to see MSU firing a coach after 2 seasons but also going to 2 straight bowls and beating OM 2 outta 2 tries as well. It's obvious the team overall has been going in the wrong direction, however, tutorgate was a big factor this season. Imagine CJ not blowing all those coverages and Murphy being a full time starter? Just one example. It doesn't excuse all the other dip **** decisions by Joe the past 2 seasons, but I'm not gonna lie on here and pretend I have some inside info and go with the herd mentality so I can claim "he's fired no matter what after the EB." It's possible but would literally be the worst kept secret in the history of college football if Joe is fired in the next few days.

Good post. This year sucked and Joe would be the first to say so. It could be that Joe will never get it right but there are too many issues this year that aren't his fault to fire a coach. Maybe after next year. Everybody has opinions but some of these guys act like they know something

Tutorgate was most definitely his fault. He is the Head Coach.

Tutorgate is 100% on players and Tutor.. The Tutor wasn’t one of the Athletic Department tutors, just a random vet school student making some extra cash on the side.

THAT is the ailment that plagues MSU

Pretty sure that's what plagues this board. We should start a rule that any coach only winning 6 games a year is fired and stick to it. Maybe we could hire a new coach and staff every year. What an idea

No point arguing with you. If you dont realize that firing Joe this year is stupid you arent smart enough for me to waste my time. Does your mom know you are online ?

Yes = we are not Alabama, with the money to hire 17 Athletic dept. "assistants" to monitor every Tutor on campus and make sure they know to not take a test for a jock while they are away playing a game. I wish we could focus on the fact, we are continuing our bowl game streak and the other school up north is continuing their streak.

Should he be sitting with every part-time tutor to be sure that they aren't offering to take tests for pay? Should he have had ONE MORE training session with the SA's telling them about compliance and impermissible benefits? Should he have hired a staff member for every part-time tutor and have them monitor them and all their communication 24/7?

If you get to be head coach for long enough to respond to this post, what, exactly, do you do to prevent it? He may be ultimately responsible because of the org chart, but no more so than Cohen, and Keenum, etc. Leaders train, trust, delegate. Sometimes people don't do what they should do, or what they are trained to do.

Ever get crappy service at McDonald's? That's not how they were trained. Manager is responsible and should get rid of those people that give crappy customer service, but they absolutely shouldn't be excoriated upon every staff member making a mistake, or even breaking the rules overtly.

No one can tell who you are responding too either. I was referencing a "SDS" article where those 3 came out supporting and expressing their loyalty to Joe

If they let these two jerk-offs hang around much longer this place is going to look like DWS if Croomhead is back next year. They are the two worst I've seen in my years posting here.

Moor years = less fan support. If Cohen is ok with that....so be it.

Hope you’re this happy when we sell 15,000 season tickets next year.

I can’t for the life of me understand how beating that 4-8 team gets you another year.

Possibly because of lack of vision. Might be surprised how important that one damn game is to some of the old time influential money guys. It's a selfish stance to begin with but their egos allow them to strut around the state because State won that game. The more things change the more they stay the same. And even more so in Mississippi where nothing ever seems to change

If he's not fired this year he won't be fired after next season when he goes 6-6 or 7-5 & beats Ole Miss again. The problem is at best his ceiling for any one year is 8 wins. Doing just enough to keep your job is not what I'm looking for in a head coach.

That ceiling of 8 wins to keep your job is acceptable at State (by the powers that be. As long as the team plays hard and is considered competitive the administration will be ok with it. The bar has been set and actually that's about one more win than the expected average...just the way it is....for now anyway AND the longer it's accepted the more it will be accepted.

If all he has to do is get bowl eligible and beat Ole Miss with Matt Luke as our coach, get ready for the Joe Moorhead ERA.
