This stuff here will knock them down if you can see the nest, it's at every Lowe's, Home Depot or anything else: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Spectrac...75035&wl11=online&wl12=19802805&wl13=&veh=sem

That's your basic.

For the red soldier wasps that get inside your house, you can still use that stuff above but you'll need to venture up into the attic. If you can't see the next, you'll need to get this stuff: https://www.truevalue.com/backyard-...ck?ctplacement=224590-44622122499&cid=gooshop

Put a female fitting plastic pipe on it, put the pipe into their hole, and spray the fogger back into there. That's really your only option. You'll have to fend off some guard wasps to get to their hole, and do it on a cooler day or near night time. The hotter it is, the longer they stay out, ready and willing to drill you.

The Cutter stuff is good about killing individual wasps too that are just flying around your yard, because it fogs and coats them. I've probably massacred a couple hundred this year. You can watch them die slowly.

Now......to totally keep them away from your house, have your bug man spray the eaves in March, right before it warms up and you get that first swarm. That's when they all rain down and form 400 nests in your house. Or get your hands on some Talstar, mix it up and coat every possible opening for the little devils.

Remember, every wasp you kill in April, is a family that's wiped out in the summer. Then in the fall, they'll hibernate up in your attic and come back badder than ever in the spring, about 5" long and mutated.

I've waged war on these bastards since the late 90s. I'm of the opinion that the red ones eat meat and have a brain.

For yellow jackets in the ground, don't screw around. Gasoline in their hole at night. Drop the nuke. They won't spare you so don't spare them.

In the spring, I sprayed around my house thoroughly with Bifen I/T. I just sprayed again last weekend. I have seen less than 5 wasps all year around my house, and usually I have multiple large nests around. I have also done a great job at controlling all other insects (spiders are normally terrible at my house) with Bifen.

This is also my best friend when spraying.

The post directly above recommends Talstar. It's the same as Bifen...

I like the spectracide too. Go early in the morning and hit the nests real good before they get active.

I went to war last summer with red wasps. I was stung a few times, and they were actually attacking when we would come out of our back door. I used this stuff, and what I found is that wasps will not come back to the area where you sprayed.

I haven't had any nests around my house or in my shed this year after spraying the areas last year.

You are an alpha male in my eyes if you withstood a sting from the red soldier. I've never been shot with a 22, but I feel like being stung by those hulks are about as close as you can get.

This is the stuff. I use the Bifen XTS. Put it in a 31 gallon pull behind sprayer. XTS is a super concentratedversion of I/T. 12oz with 30 gallons of water treats my 1.5 acres. I last treated in early June and killed off chiggers, ants, mosquitoes, everything smaller than a beetle. Last week we got bit by mosquitoes so I sprayed again Saturday. And they are gone again. I went to my neighbors Sunday night and it was obvious where the mosquitoes went.. they were bad. I have not seen any signs of wasps since the first treatment either. I bought a gallon for $120. It will last 2 full seasons. Possibly one of the greatest products I have ever used... If it only took care of the ants I would be satisfied.

Right now, I'm looking at three nest and a mother colony in the corner of an outside building. The mother colony is located nearest to the bird baths. Together, I'm thinking its 300 wasp. We spray em every year and they keep coming back. I'm going to war on these 17ers soon. I grabbed a fist full of Guinea wasp the other day.....underneath a railing on the back steps. I haven't seen too many of them.....but it hurt bad enough for me to declare war on all wasp.

I've been lurching around my yard with the ******** cans from family dollar, putting my life at risk.
These red wasp on the mother colony would tear up a rhino. I'm not going in without the big guns.
I will need godspeed.

Yep, and a honey bee only stings once. Leaves the stinger in you and then dies. The wasp can sting several times.

I've got some that seem to be coming and going from one of my eaves. Problem is, it's on the second story, on a sloped lot, and at least 25 feet up. Can't imagine being on a ladder and being attacked by wasps.

Ortho makes one that expands and foams when it hits the nest. Very few escape that!

I'm a pest control technician and yes I use Bifen... aka, Talstar for wasps and bee infestations.

Northeast exterminators

I have no idea what they sprayed but I had them all in my attic. Would come out of the attic through a crack under the over hang of my roof.

Thousands of them.

Guy sprayed. They were gone. Never saw another wasp for the next 3 years I lived there. Not even an old nest.

Yellow Jackets can both sting multiple times and bite.

One time I was riding my motorcycle wearing shorts...just a short trip to gas up. My terrible bad luck was to have one of those fly between my thigh and the tank of my Kawasaki cruiser. As I was cruising down the road there wasn't much I could do but grin & bear it until I could safely pull over.

That little bastard nailed me several times as I was trying to pull over and stop. Hurt like hell!

Yeah I battle those red ones daily. They come after you in defense but the worst ones by far are ground bees. They will chase you for a mile popping you on the head. I’ve been battling some near an irrigation well for about a month. Their nest is in ground under some cross ties that the motor sits on so I can’t get to them.

After battling them for several years, I started having success spraying the exterior with permethrin early in the spring when I first see activity and again around mid summer. It made a huge difference, and there are fewer every year.

I also keep a small pump sprayer full of soapy water on the porch. It works well at disabling them, it's cheap, and doesn't make a mess like the can spray does.

ETA: I still have limited movement in two fingers because of those bastards.

I feel for you. Can you get them from the attic? They typically build the nest right inside the hole where they enter. They are smarter than normal wasps, but they aren't THAT smart.

If you can see the nest, you can douse them at night in relative safety.

All is not lost if you can't, though. Get your local bug man to set off a bomb in there, and it will run them out. Problem is you have to stay out of the house for a while. Not that wimpy bomb stuff from Lowe's either, they have the real deal.

Guineas are nothing. The ones you truly need to fear are the bright red ones. Whole body, head to toe, bright reddish/orange.

There was about 3,000,000 of them on one of the lights at Davis Wade a few years ago. Pretty eerie sight.

When I was about 6 years old, I was playing in some dirt, and a nest of yellow jackets attacked me. I got stung about 7-8 times best I can remember. I was wearing a MSU kid jersey, the kind with the net see through net material. Those things got caught up in that material and just stuck to me. Let's just say it was a long night.

I been killing so many around my house this year in old cars, in eave of house, in the ground and in some 2x4 braces to a lean to I have, and there's more every time I go outside....

But yesterday, one of my ex-wife's pit bulls, name of Dak, died from an anaphylactic reaction to something. We figure a wasp or hornet. I killed a huge hornet nest in the ground a few years ago in her backyard which is why we figured she's got more out there. But Dak was such a sweet and pretty dog, came from two of mine. He sure was too young to go out like that.

When I was a kid I got into a nest of yellow jackets at the edge of my property. It was summer and I was in shorts and a t shirt. My dilemma was I was also in a blackberry thicket. I had been carefully picking my way through it, but once the spawns of Satan started attacking me I was not afforded that luxury. My choice was slowly pick my way back out getting nailed by yellowjackets until they got bored or check my 40 time through the blackberries in shorts. I chose to check my 40 time. There was no right answer that day.

Easy solution:

My late Uncle was one of those folks who could reach and grab a nest and never get stung. I've seen him holding a red wasp or hornet in the palm of one hand and rubbing his finger from the other hand over it. I wish he could have passed that on to me.

My other Uncle kept bees and worked the hives in shorts, no shirt, and sandals. Remarkable **** to witness.

If Bengal makes wasp spray that will probably be deadliest. Their roach spray is crazy effective. Had an outbreak under our deck one time and a few squirts between the boards unleashed about 50 that crawled up between the boards and immediately died. The next morning I walked out on the deck and looked in grass and there had to be 50-60 more dead

Racquetball racket. Or racquet. It’s how I get rid of wasp and wood bees. Also look into an A Salt Rifle. I can vouch for these. Also, hairspray and lighter. It’s how I rid my property of banana spiders. Nothing worse than being on the tractor and BAM banana spider.

I watched an old guy use his hands once from inside a window. He says you have to hold your breath which"closes your pores and they can't sense you". He slowly reached up and pinched the little stem off the wasp nest that was attached to the eave and pulled it off. He gently shook it and got all the wasp of and threw away the nest

My dad still burns them out to this day. He will wait till dusk and he has this contraption that hooks to a propane tank that we used to burn chicken feathers out of our chicken house with.

1/3 cup of dishwashing soap per gallon of water and douse the nest. They fall off dead immediately. I’ve also used a huge water gun (like kids play with in the pool) to get them off the eve of the house where I couldn’t reach with the dishpan.
Soap acts as a surfactant and suffocates them.

I remember this detached garage my neighbors had when I was 11 or 12. You could walk by in the summer and it sounded like high tension lines buzzing. The guy finally set off a fogger inside and there were two escape holes for the carpenter bees, me and the kids that lived there had tennis racquets and it was game on. 1 by 1 they came out forehand.. backhand repeat. We must have killed thousands. It nearly filled up a trashbag. It was magnificent.

The satisfaction of whacking carpenter bees with a tennis racquet is hard to explain, but it's on my list of things to do again in life.

Tried it on wasps and the little bastards sneak through way too much for my liking.

No. Because the feathers are on the ground mixed in with chicken litter. Now if you held it on wood? Sure.
