State vs. Arkansas, 1998. Hazlewood kicked the game winner, and we stormed the field. I was a young'un. Made me a State fan for life.

Not sure of the game...but I remember a play in the late 90s where somebody was running with the ball, got tackled and lateraled the ball to someone else and scored a TD. Might have been against BYU.

First game I remember attending

It was in Starkville in 1987, I think.I remember very little about the game except that we left early and heard a roar on the way to the car. Come to find out we kicked a field goal to win the game. I do not remember the opponent.

First game I really recall any action was an *** kicking at the hands of the Tennessee Volunteers in 1990. Tony James returned a punt for a TD. It was hot as ****. The end.

I can’t say what the exact game was but there are several things I remember specifically and each reminds me of how lucky I was to share each with my dad. He’s in his 70’s now and the outcomes are less important each year.

Miami orange pants. I thought those were the coolest thing I’d ever seen. This was early 80’s.

Going to Bama in 81. Thought we had them just like last year.

LSU game when we brought in portable lights. Probably my favorite game as a child. I think it was in Starkville. I was introduced to stomping on aluminum bleachers in this game.

Winning the West wasn’t my childhood but I remember my Dad and all the old men struggling to hold back their emotions. I get that now.

I think I was a Jr in HS but beating USM in Hburg was a big freaking deal back then and you younger guys don’t understand it but they were better than us in the 80’s. It was tough. We did the FSU tomahawk chant after they did it at us when they were ahead.

I’ll stop and leave you with this. One of my best friends is a UGA grad. He drove home every weekend from Memphis and went to the games with his dad. When he lost his dad he went to the home opener...walked up the ramp...saw the green grass and walked back to his car and hasn’t been back. Long live awesome Dads like mine.

1973 Auburn game

My dad had a Marine buddy who was taking graduate courses at Auburn. He had tickets to see Mississippi. Seeing that I had just moved to Mississippi, I didn't have a clue who the Mississippi teams were.l I thought we'd be seeing the Ole Miss Rebels (my dads buddy didn't know who they were either).

When I saw them out there in Maroon instead of Red and Blue, I figured out that they weren't the Ole Miss Rebels I had heard about. The biggest takes from the game:

- We sat in the shaded section, where it was very cold. At halftime, we moved to the other end zone and it was about 30 degrees warmer.

- Sitting near the student section, I could smell the pot smoke. Looking around for my High School senior older brother, I noticed that he was gone somewhere.

-When Auburn kicked an extra point, some dude wearing a #20 Alabama jersey caught the football, then ran out of the stadium.

First MSU game I remember: 1986, beating Tennessee in Knoxville 27-23 on the Don Smith run.

First MSU game I remember that I attended: losing to Tennessee in Knoxville 26-24 in 1991.

The Kang'a first game was also mine. Want to say a 49-0 blowout of Cal State Fullerton.
I remember watching cheerleaders and bully and didn't realize the game had started until several minutes into it.
I've been hooked ever since
P.S. - That was back when the cannon was LOUD. I remember the first time it scared the **** out of me

1970/71 One of those double headers in Jackson. Versus Flarda.

ETA: It was 1971 and the FL game (win) was not the double header. The double header was Oct 30, Ole Miss vs. LSU and MSU vs. Bama (loss). Went to both of those games.

Listening was 83 EB. Damn wind.

Wanting to attend was either 82 or 88 Georgia game. I remember we had been on vacation, and was coming through Starkville on way back home. We cut through campus and I remember begging Dad to stop. He said it probably wasn’t any tickets available anyway and kept on going. (Dad didn’t like crowds then, but enjoys going to games now that he’s in his mid 70’s and has bad knees.) Go figure. Probably was 88, but I do remember Hershel winning Heisman, so I don’t know.

Attended: strangely enough I don’t remember actually, but very possibly Memphis State in late 80’s early 90’s.

Grew up a causal fan. Got hooked August 31 2006. Freshman year, Thursday night, first game of the college season broadcast on Espn, played South Carolina coached by Steve spurrier. Campus was crazy, student section was crazy, we got shutout 15-0

I find it comical that you know this game exactly and further up the thread Msubulldogfan1 can only recall some game in the late 90s where someone lateraled to someone else. Kids

1976 our high school and jr. high football players were treated to a 38-0 win over Cal State Poly. I really don't remember much except making fun of their name.

I went to a few baseball games but life kept me out of going to football games and there wasn't much to see in the 80's. I remember going to Jackson for the final Emery game and a terrible 45-27 loss to Ole Miss in 1985 and coming to visit my bud in 1988 and seeing us win the only game against La Tech in the Tech and Ten season, the last for Rocky. Funny I saw the end and the beginning of the end of two coaches.

The JWS era was when I really started going and went to MSU to get my degree as an old dude and then lived in Starkville and went to every game until Croom's downslide began and I moved to Texas. I have only been back for one game in 2010.

ETA: The first tv game I remember was either the Sun Bowl or the LSU home game they brought in temp lighting for TV.

1972 in Oxford. Hated them every since.

I understand, I was there too. Freezing cold, snowing, swirling winds. Nasty day and the Rebs beat us 51 - 14.

That year was the end of my freshman year and we were 2 - 9. Possibly the worst season ever in my almost 50 years of watching the dawgs.
