It's highly likely that 4 hours ago she was wandering down highway 82 somewhere between Moorehead and Itta Bena.

Sounds like she got knocked out by Buster Douglas and played a cameo in the Hangover.

Do we need to start a thread on this every time she calls one of our games?

Just mute the TV and get the radio broadcast synced up using the TuneIn app.

i don't care if she is deaf or not. This is the entertainment industry you can discriminate based on performance and ability to do the job. Delivery is not up to par. We are a number 1 seed. Completely unacceptable. Might as well hire someone giving commentary in german

Tamika Catchings. 4 gold medals, multiple MVPs, etc. Look her up. She is more than worthy to be commentating.

ability to speak clear and effective is number 1 job qualification. I'm fine giving her halftime show, but not in game commentating. You don't want an obese fitness instructor do you? I know exactly who she is, but like I said delivery is unacceptable. Unfair to advertisers because half the country have already muted the game.

I’m guilty of starting a thread earlier making fun of her voice. I have to say that I have gotten use to it. She is very accomplished and brings much knowledge to the game.

We are a number 1 seed. We are on espn. We deserve the best delivery. Give her the halftime show heck make her the anchor pay her bunches of money, but leave the in game commentary to someone else

Well, no. But I’d be ok with a fitness instructor with speech impediment. Isn’t the point to provide insightful commentary? Not have silky smooth voice. It’s distracting for about the first five minutes if you’re over the age of 15.

good and barely notice. It’s amazing what you see and hear when you don’t focus on every negative aspect. Give it a try. She’s better than a lot of announcers without a disability.

Umm... it’s Tamika Catchings, one of the best women’s college players ever. She absolutely knows what she’s talking about, which is what counts.

Delivery is equally important in this profession. If anyone else in the world had the qualifications, spoke like her, but wasn't deaf they wouldn't have a job doing in game commentary.

not if she can't be understood.
Can you really not understand her?

I mean, her voice is different than what we'd usually hear on TV, but I haven't misunderstood a single word she's said. Just not a big deal any more than it would be if she were from Europe or something.

She's honestly easier to understand than some of the people on this board would be... My grandmother in Mississippi is much harder to understand... The words tire, tar, fire, car, liar, door, and hire all rhyme perfectly when she speaks. Much like Haley Barbour.

And let's face it, Barkley doesn't exactly speak the King's English either.

It took me a bit to get used to her. But she’s actually a pretty good announcer. She brings good insight to the game. Which is more than you can say for a lot of announcers.

Threads like this getting massive response make me dislike much of this group sometimes. Thanks to the sane, intelligent ones.

Thanks for the work to lay out that info. She's an accomplished human being deserving of tremendous respect.
