I see this nonsense on Ole Miss boards:

"MSU has a letter from the NCAA"

It's technically correct. MSU does have a letter, written on NCAA letterhead, that says they are free and clear on the Leo Lewis situation and can play him without further inquiry.

I know the Hugh Freeze wing of your fanbase is praying for it, and I know you think you can affect recruiting by putting it out on your stupid boards, but I felt it was important to set the record straight for everyone.

Keep at it, Rebs. Hopefully you will pass Toledo in the recruiting rankings.

They are a fanbase conflicted. They are playing the only card they have left to play: NCAA gonna get you too!1!1!!!

Which if you were around Gene's Page back in 2002, is exactly what MSU fans were saying as our investigation wound down.

At this point, Ole Miss fans can only hope 1) MSU gets in trouble because of Rebel Rags Law suit. 2) Dan Mullen leaves MSU 3) Howland gets in trouble because of his connections to Adidas.

Did I miss any more of their talking points? Misery loves company. They have hit new lows and can only hope that we do too.

There's a few that are also predictably turning on Patterson.

Since I refuse to read that compost of theirs, what are they turning on him for?

As crazy and controlling his father appears to be, by what has just been posted here, a few cross words and the Patterson bunch could pack up and bolt.

But that's the point Drebin is trying to make here. Based on the information gathered during the Leo interviews, the NCAA looked at our recruitment of him and said we were clear. That's why he's on the field today. The Rebs are crying foul because they claim the NCAA just went through the motions because Leo was their star witness. That and we apparently are bigger puppetmasters than Saban at controlling who the NCAA lays their vengeance upon.

Everyone knows these things happen in cycles. The NCAA will eventually land at your door and want to look under the hood if they see something they see an anomaly. The Rebs are just working extra hard to try to magnify something that the NCAA has already said wasn't an issue.

Did they ever really turn on Freeze once he was exposed or just pray for him?

Seems like battered wife syndrome. Not many of them want to talk about it, and the ones who do make excuses, defend unreasonable actions, and look for any way for the relationship to resume at some point.

He was not a running threat and all he did was throw 50/50 balls for his receivers. He didn't want to check down to an open receiver 7 yards downfield and instead threw it up for grabs in tight coverage 30 yards downfield.

No, I'm with you. My point is we were wrong then, and they are wrong now. Maybe in 2032 I'll worry.

Patterson is basically an amalgamation of everything wrong with their previous Qb's. He isn't as talented or game savvy as Kelly and he makes bad decisions like Bo. They selfishly burned the guy's red shirt to save face and make a meaningless bowl game (and failed) and have the audacity to blame him because he hasn't stepped into a starting role as an SEC Qb. I remember them bitching about how Cutcliffe held back Eli's development and they only got one really good season out of him, but lo and behold Eli is the only thing wearing an Ole Miss jersey in my lifetime that has thrown an NFL pass.

Leo gave them a good pounding from behind and when finished he did not give a reach around. Took the money and went somewhere else.

Then he did it again when the NCAA gave him immunity but this time he put a coaster and a ash tray on their butt, smoked a cigarette and drink a cool one while doing it.

Does this mean that in 15 years "NyquilchugSpeak" will be the preeminent Ole Miss message board?

Reality has slowly been creeping in since the Cal loss

That program is the biggest dumpsterfire in the SEC right now.

The defense is multiple classes away from being competitive. And while on the subject of current classes, the 2018 checks in at #83 per 247. The entire coaching staff is unwanted yet who wants to walk into that program with the baggage currently hanging over it? If the NCAA waives the academic year in residence requirement for transfers, then you may see a number exit. There isn't any stability within that football program...and the athletic department for that matter. They completely mismanaged Shea Patterson and the redshirt situation. Penalties from two NOAs will be addressed in the coming month. Internally, you have lawsuits everywhere naming business owners, former coaches, PSAs (at the time), and even media members that cover Ole Miss sports.

With all the moving parts that occur during the college football offseason, I struggle to see a situation where they land a coach they truly want. All of those issues in conjunction with playing in the SEC West will make that one of the toughest rebuilding jobs in the country. Penn State was able to pull it off rather quickly. That said, they aren't Penn State. This situation will get worse before it gets better and the fanbase appears to be realizing that.

Exactly. Penn State doesn't play Alabama, Auburn, LSU, A&M, and State every year. The recruiting situation is a lot different down here too.

And it’s not at rock bottom yet. Outside of Bowie, their class sucked last year. Their class this year may be their worst ever, and their 19 class could be even worse. There’s going to be three really, really ****** classes stacked back to back to back. Wait until the ‘17 group are seniors. Holy ****, it’s going to be a bunch that Saban couldn’t get bowl eligible with. Plus, their mascot will be a madeup animal.

Ole Miss is gonna have to do what they've always mocked us over......heavy, heavy juco recruiting.

The football early signing period rule change is at the absolute worst time for them. I don't know what is worse for them: losing egg bowls, NCAA probation, or losing recruiting championships.

It is going to be a sad day when the Grove starts losing parties. With all this going on, the undefeated party streak is in jeopardy.

yeah, i've had the misfortune of running into one female fan with mad cow disease who continues to swear the evil leo lewis master-minded the the landshark takedown after dan mullen told him to....she usually comes out after dark and attacks after a few shooters....a hopelessly delusional fan-base!

Speaking of Bowie, I was watching some of the OM replay last night on SEC network and saw him make a tackle on special teams. He was wearing #1, so he must be playing defense for sure. Was State looking at him for WR or DB? Couldn’t remember. Sorry for the highjack.

And there was some actual truth to that... except..... "in steps Slive who declares MSU to be the last fall guy and we suddenly have an "exciting and new cooperative way" of dealing with the NCAA. Slive and Khayatt became bestest of buddies back in those days.

Point is, they were doing the same **** back then, but Slive/SEC buried it under new way to "clean up" the SEC. Which was basically, bring all your **** to me (slive) and I'll mete out justice how I see fit. This was in play until the CAM incident gave him too much of a black eye. Not coincidentally in my mind, things have been on the up and up much moreso in Slive's absense.

We weren't wrong then, Slive protected them.

They are wrong now, at least to the extent that the NCAA probably doesn't think it's a good idea to use immunity against the very school the kid plays for....or else they'll never get to use it again.

Roy is a good guy. I kinda felt he was at last vindicated in a way with this round of Ole Miss vs NCAA having a much different outcome than the one in his time. I know he was sincere with what he said, no matter what the truth was, and I felt bad that he was the object of a joke after the fact.

Wish I could buy him a drink of his choice when the sanctions are handed down to either celebrate the anal raping or the beginning of the New Wild Wild West in the SEC
