I see this is in another thread. I thought the other thread was about recruiting which I rarely read

So it appears, he was in Oxford when the call was made.

No evidence of this, but what if Mrs. Freeze caught wind of a strange new perfume. She, over time, makes a few phone calls, and patiently waits...

All sides agree, it was incredibly stupid to use that phone. So stupid, even I have trouble thinking he would do that. Charlatan jackass, yes, but that dumb? What if it wasn't stupid, but an inside job expose'...

When this first broke, I thought it was common knowledge that these were for recruits and not himself. He just took the fall for it and was probably paid to do so.

That was my first thought as well. He may be taking a dip himself, but those were professional recruiters.

It would be smart, because he isn't going to serve jail time for calling hookers for himself.

BUT...

If he was buying hookers for high school kids then he will be facing some serious felony charges.

I'm sure he's just praying everyone thinks he's a horny old dude and all of this goes away.

Man that MLK quote he referenced via twitter on 1/18 rings with irony now doesn't it?

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"

I guess in his case, it's calling up hookers for 'croots.

Is Bjork or Freeze on record saying he was in Tampa that day?

This is where it get's even more interesting. To answer your question, Yes, see Freeze response to Pat Forde:

“I’ve got no idea, to be honest,” Freeze said. “I was in an 813 area code and that was a 313 number, I think that might have been a misdial. I don’t think there was even a conversation. There’s nothing to it.”

Why you lyin Rev? Whatcha got to hide?

To know the answer, we need to know who he called (or received call from) before the call to the escort service

I'd imagine this is being investigated- I doubt the NCAA isn't at least curious. And it's not far-fetched.

We'll see.

My understanding is you can call one of these numbers and get girls in different locations. When this hit I looked up some of them and many of them cover all the major cities.

He also could have been lining it up for a future day when he would be in Florida to Ake sure he got the girl he wanted .

Exactly, Freeze threw himself on the grenade to save Ole Miss.

I don't doubt he was sampling some of the Hookers too (just to make sure they were Top Quality for his precious recruits). But they weren't ALL for himself....like a guy trafficking 60 lbs. of Marijuana in his trunk trying to tell the Cops it was ALL for "personal use".

So let's take this to the next question... If he was in Oxford, calling an escort agency in Detroit to line up a soiled angel in Tampa, then WHO WOULD SAID ANGEL BE MEETING.

The crown jewel of that 2016 class from FL was a 5-star QB from Bradenton, FL (just south of Tampa) who signed a letter of intent and enrolled at OM on 1/21. Of course, there is also Jacob Mathis right there in Tampa as well. Mathis would take his OV on 1/29 and sign with OM on 2/3.

Let's not overlook one positively stupefying fact here:
A crew of bored freaking Northwestern fans who are just driving by rubbernecking at the steaming pile-up that is Ole Miss athletics currently are SOMEHOW better investigative journalists than any "working" reporter within 300 miles of Oxford?

They're asking questions that real, honest-to-God, journalists should be asking. The Ole Miss administration has stated they will not elaborate on the 'pattern' Hugh showed out of respect for his privacy. I get that... if it is all on him then he's got issues he needs to work out.
But...
I'm not buying it was for him.
I'm not buying his silence.

something's amiss.

and nobody's asking questions... so it's wild wild west speculation out here.

To be fair, I'm not sure we can yet say nobody's asking questions. It's been about 72 hours since this news broke, so there could well be national journalists asking questions, but without sufficient information yet to publish anything. Based on history, I'm sure we can say no journalist in Mississippi is asking questions.

This is my thinking. He's not in much legal jeopardy if the party line is that he was calling hookers for himself. He can face massive legal issues, however, if he was setting hookers up for 17 year old, underage recruits.

It would also make sense that if OM knew about that ahead of time (hookers for croots) and it can easlily be proven that they knew, it would make plenty of sense for there to be an under-the-table deal between Freeze and OM to protect each other and say these were his indiscretions. After all, the default position has been to defend and spin. Theres a lot of legal issues for anyone who knew... and not just Freeze.

I went back and listened to Steve's show and it seemed he was almost catcalling to say "he had a hunch and couldn't prove" that recruits were involved. It would also make sense that he would take a more "conservative" position on this and imply there may be evidence to support the "hookers for croots" very "subtly." I have to wonder if that's what he was doing...

What is the proper designation for recruit prositutes in NCAA infraction nomenclature, because I stand with *****/prostitute/harlot/escort/hooker/working girl(s) 1-39.

What about the university planes? Aren't they required to keep logs? Of course if the planes aren't owned by the university, but a corporation or booster, that may be harder to find. Are these flight plans public domain on any FAA related website?

Northwestern has one of the top journalism schools in the country. I guess the osmosis effect is in play here.

No osmosis.

Two of the West Lot Pirates are grads of the NU Medill School of Journalism. Says so in the first line of the linked article.

Bit of a thread derail, but whatever happened to Godfrey's hit piece? You gotta think somebody at Ole Miss tipped him off to maybe keep that under the lid.

Wait, didn't the phone call happen on the 21st too? Same day Shae enrolls the 1 minute (celebratory?) phone call gets made to a Tampa hooker service? Perhaps a "congrats you did your job, here's $10,000 headed your way" type of call? Just guessing here

We're just a bunch of backwoods bookfarmers right? Can barely find our pants pockets to stick our hands in them, let alone orchestrate a takedown of the Flagship.

The 'goods' on Rosebowl, the Leo tapes, Miller/Mullen/Forde/Nutt/Trump/Russians conspiracy... they're holding onto ALL of it and it will ALL be release in a BOMBSHELL penned by Godfrey himself.

We will definitely rue that day.

I do remember Steve saying something to the effect of certain size aircraft does no have to record its occupancy though. Fwiw.

That's not a new theory. One of the first things I posted Thursday night was that the prostitutes were for recruits.
