Fishtank was after my time but when "Sam" owned it it was perfect lil 5 min walk home. Watched 98 Champ there. Dude went and bought a big screen just for our crew. Forgot the damn name of it then, but drinking age wasnt a concern there.

Wasn’t it the “Bearded Seal” at one point?

Joplin's on Limestone was one of the more peculiar "college bars" I remember going to. Think it was in the spot now occupied by The Paddock, maybe?

Karaoke every night. Pitchers of beer were cheap. Didn't card for anything. Owner also bartended and drank as much as he sold. Place only lasted a few months.

So it’s JUST like the Paddock then? Because when I was going to the paddock, very infrequently it was like quarter or $1 pitchers or something and the owner was always there blitzed.

I used to occasionally screw the big tittied bartender at Hoo-Ha’s in Wilder back in the day. Was great - my derelict buddies and I could rack up a grand on a tab with voluminous stupid shots and stuff, and I’d get a bill for like $37. Would tip her fifty bucks and then have to go eat her *****. She was kinda fat, but cute (and ginormous tits, as mentioned.) It all worked out great for everyone involved.

There are some mocks of the left-wing yard signs floating around out there. I saw one in Covington the other day - same setup and look, but the words actually say things like white lives matter, my cold dead hands, I love animals I eat them everyday, etc. No one ever reads the words on those things, but if you happen to,[roll]

Great troll job. I’m sure Wayne has some for sale on his MySpace page?

To SAE’s point, we have ****** hot blondes posting this 🔥 on the neighborhood message boards:

“To whoever called metro animal, they came and laughed AT YOU bc THEY SAID MY DOG looks "perfect and definitely NOT MALNOURISHED" and so here's my "f*ck you, YOU keyboard happy *****." To whoever called. This is why Norton commons has a bad name!!!! Thank you for scaring my kids for your own personal ******* agenda.

Oh, and she doesn't live in my garage you idiot! She has her own bedroom on our second floor.”

I that first line is straight out of a Trump “how to tweet” training class. Perfection!

-Love being around old dudes right before a sporting event starts. Listening to them sing/hum along with the national anthem. That era of dudes are legit.

-Reds did their job this year. Gave us some hope and have a shot to be really good. 2023 was a success in my eyes.

-The biggest obstacle as a small business owner is always having to adapt/evolve or you end up bought or broke.

-BS High is worth the watch. A true con man that proved how easy it is to BS your way through a lot before you’re caught.

-First GAMBOL prediction-Hawaii covers against Vandy.

* A coworker and I skipped the Morton's dinner portion of our board meeting Wednesday night to go watch FC Cincinnati vs Messi. It was pretty cool seeing the GOAT.

After a few craft brews, my inner KY redneck came out and I nearly singlehandedly started a regional conflict with Argentina. A couple of that fine country's best citizens were cheering on Messi and they got a little obnoxious. Good natured ribbing turned a little mean spirited and I guess I crossed a line with some Falkland Islands smack talk. I had no idea that was still such a sore spot. You live and learn.

* At this stage in his career, Messi doesn't even pretend to play defense. He stands around and walks a little from here to there. But when he gets the ball, holy ****. FCC played incredible defense on him and he still managed 2 pinpoint assists in traffic.

He's as good with a ball on his foot as the Norton Commons Hotwives Club is with balls in their mouths.

Impressive.

Baseball chatter....

* Brandon Williamson has turned into a damn fine major league pitcher. His 2021 (AA) season was bonkers.....

19 games / 98.1 innings / 153 strikeouts / 3.39 era. Then he proceeded to suck in 2022 and 2023 at AAA, and got called up to the big club basically in an emergency situation. Despite an awful June (6.29 era), he's put together a very good season. Winning record. ERA 10% better than league average. Outstanding in July and August.

I still think he projects as a 3/4 starter, but it's been great to see his progress this season.

* Shohei Ohtani may need Tommy John surgery for the 2nd time in 5 years. I just can't get over how terrible Arte Moreno is. Instead of trading this guy for a huge haul of prospects, he hung onto the last 70 at bats of his Angels career, and even unloaded the bulk of his own talent in order to "double down" on the season. His team sucks, and Ohtani was leaving no matter what.

They've gone 5-16 since the trade deadline and now sit 10.5 games out of the wild card. Nice work, idiot.

* 1/2-game out of the Wild Card. 34 to play. Here's what we have to look forward to....

- Hunter Greene giving us quality innings
- Rake Fraley returning from the IL (late next week)
- Tejay Antone getting a call up
- Jose Barrerro getting another shot in the majors (although I'm scared he may be a Bill James 4A player)

* Feel free to jump off the bandwagon. I'm still on board.

- 8 days. Unbelievable. [smoking cig emoj]

- One of lass’ friends told her we should sell our Bama tickets and cover the cost of our whole season; I can’t begin to describe the size of that FALSE (lass agreed).

- I say it every year around this time and will never stop: hearing the drumline practicing at night to bring on the season and fall is one of the true joys of living where we do.

- All the late 90’s/early aughts UK sorority rankings are pretty consistent and right. Tier 1 easily Theta, ADPi, Chi O; Tier 2 Pi Phi, Kappa, Tri Delt. The order within those confines really makes no difference.

- If you never hung out with Pi Phis, you missed out. Hot, a little more edgy, and just knew how to have fun. We always had to order extra kegs when planning mixers with them. No cap.

- Saw Mitch at Starbucks this morning. He was probably celebrating the renewed deal with a nice, ice cold, venti cup of milk.

- Working the Friday bingo tent with Jaimanth and some other friends for Oktoberfest, if for no other reason than to see the Spin Doctors. Two Princes is the epitome of a 90’s rock classic.

- Catching a game at EKU on a crisp fall night (when not conflicting with UK, of course), taking in the atmosphere at a (relatively) small-town/small-college football school, is an underrated local entertainment option.

- I know nothing compares to real, homemade sauce/gravy, but for a long time Rao’s was the best if in a bind and going store-bought. Hope the Campbell’s acquisition won’t ruin it (it will).

- Wrestlers looks pretty entertaining and is a very cool moment for those people, but as even Matt himself said, not real sure how this will necessarily springboard any of them to the next level. No one is getting a shot at WWE or AEW solely by reason of being on that show; they don’t need the “crossover publicity.” That said, really do hope something works out for at least some of them.

- Steps/walking: I get that it’s time-consuming to really get in a decent amount, but if you have time it’s such an underrated form of cardio.

- Lass was cleaning out a closet of ours and found an old “homemade weight gainer” recipe I consumed in early college; 4k calories plus a few solid meals for 5-6k+, every day. Wish I still had the “problem” of not being able to gain weight.

- 90’s youth sports movies are all ridiculous (and awesome), but Little Giants had two old men setting odds then trying to move the lines with simultaneous, rogue recruiting calls. That might be the peak.

- We’ll circle back around and work out the particulars on another Friday soon, gang. Make this one great.

It's truly amazing that your level of "fine" is pure mediocrity for those of us that actually know something about the game. It's a broken record from you these days reading your hyperbole about players who should be eating McD's in some AA town. But hell, there are still fans who wear Drew Stubbs jersey's to GABP.

⚽️ As a novice international fútbol fan, I really appreciated the no-rush, trotting of Andrea Pirlo (The Architect). Dude was a savant passer and looked like he was sleeping on the pitch, but just carved through defenses with ease.

🧅🧅 His PK against England was just one of the wheel barrel ball, troll jobs in sport.

🇮🇹 His gal is smoke too.

- I really think in today’s America, you haven’t truly “made it” until you own a golf cart. Some day. Some day.

- Had a scare with my 7-year-old golden retriever. Scared the hell out of me. Actually cried a little when we found out it wasn’t cancer. Still had pretty extensive surgery but he’s back to himself and coneless.

- Appreciate you all reaching out about my uncle. My poor dad has lost 3 siblings in 10 months. He’s the only one left from his family of 7. Has to be a tough place to be.

- Think I’m about a year away from taking my daughter to a UK football game. Looking forward to it. I just don’t think she has it in the tank quite yet.

- Can barely walk today due my lingering heel/ankle/foot injury flaring up again this week. Doctor thinks it’s due to a tight calf muscle. Been cramping up left and right. Almost makes me wish I didn’t have calf muscles … like Bonzo.

- Pretty cool summer in the Greater Cincinnati area - Taylor Swift, Messi, resurgent Reds. Like seeing people getting fired up about ****.

- Listen, dickhead - don’t be dismissive of my completely rational irrational sports hatred. Hate That Guy. It makes sense to me.

- Finally got myself a somewhat bougie watch - did some research and went with a Mido Ocean Star. Not completely foolishly expensive but feels like a longterm piece.

- After 13 years, decided to get my cowboy boots resoled in time for fall. $100. Pricier than I expected but certainly less expensive than a new pair.

- Sounds like Ohtani may never pitch again- sure hope that guy has a backup plan!

- Speaking of irrational sports hate, I will not try to talk you out of or mock you for hating Tebow, BUT I can’t do it. Such a genuine dude. Much like his mentor Urban Meyer.

- Getting to the point where disciplining my daughter is coming into play because she is saucy, stubborn and bossy AF. Still trying to figure out my style.

- Favorite Wallen Songs:

1. Quittin Time
2. Keith Whitley
3. Sand in My Boots
4. Silverado for Sale
5. Last Night

- RE: BS High

That dude was pretty smug for conning poor kids from the hood.

The real real con men are the ones who convince Hollywood actresses to be sex slaves or commandeer the Grand Old Party. Don’t @ me MFers - still
smarting from the Geesefeeder post.

Thoroughly enjoying Swamp Kings. Don't care if they left stuff out, it captures bigtime SEC football so well and that makes it a fun watch. Siler is a hoot.

I think Tebow is probably a great guy, but genuine is not a word I'd use. Everything feels like it's calculated and done for show. He's playing a character to some extent. Still, he's infinitely more likeable than that fakeass sleezeball Dabo.

Lots of bet-hedging going on from national CFB pundits RE: the Cats. Talking em up out of one side of their mouth, and then picking em 4th in the east out of the other. There'll be lots of told-ya-sos coming regardless of how they finish.

This heat wave can EA(sweaty)D.

Hooked up some ramen last night. Chili crisp, lil soy sauce, dropped some potstickers in the water while the noodles cooked, perfectly jammy 7.5 minute eggs, low profit margin. Perfecto.

Wife really wanted one to drive around the neighborhood with. I refused for the longest time and finally gave in. Found a used one with all the fun gadgets and sound system that are in those things today. Yes, its awesome and yes my wife never lets me hear the end of it.
