He coached here 2 years, he wasn't here long enough to kill it, Cal has been well on his way to killing us.
did you pay attention to his recruits
the only reason he never had a historically bad season is because he got fired after only two years
not to mention his player treatment
PPats mother saved us from a couple more years og BCG
but believe what you will

Kentucky is one of the most celebrated college basketball programs in the country. The school has an outstanding NIL program according to the players. Reeves got much more publicity last year than he had ever received in his career.
I see no reason to believe he was forced to remain at UK. I think that's just a lot of gossip and hearsay, typical of the nonsense that is promoted on this forum.
You don't see a problem with the 3 words in bold? I do, we used to be the best. Tubby didn’t let that slip, Joe B didn’t let that slip, Pitino sure didn't, but Cal, the highest paid coach in the country, did.

And billy was below average both years, I’m not pro cal by any stretch but he is better than billy, billy was probabaly the worst coach Kentucky has ever had
I didn’t say Billy was better, but here's the difference, Billy was **** canned for underperforming, before he could do any more damage, Cal comtinues to get richer, while crapping the bed. .

Fair point on that, but the min our AD gave out a lifetime contract Kentucky was in a bad spot

I think the talent will be there. I’m really hoping the criticism will push Cal to change and do better. He’s been quiet lately and that’s not like him at all. I’d bet on it he’s really pissed off.
He was quiet last summer and the summer before that too. He’s hiding. He knows he's underperforming, but you better believe he'll be all talkative and calling fans out the second he wins a game this season.

Should there be any level of concern about Mitchell potentially going back to WVU since they hired Eilert?

He quite literally could not go anywhere since he had not graduated yet unless he wanted to go to Europe. You know he did not want to come back or there would have been some big announcement by UK or the player.
Red wouldn't buy Reeves the rock hammer he had ask for. Case closed.

Shawshank Redemption Andy GIF

So Reeves had to turn around and crawl back through a stink I dont even want to imagine.

Billy also made one tournament and had multiple issues off the court as well. Cal has underperformed but he ain’t billy bad
I mean he went 9-16 then followed it up with an embarrassing 1st rd loss to a 15 seed. The redemption tour after that was a second rd loss to Kst. It's pretty bleak ****.

People might not want to realize it but I think Oscar kept cow from going to 2 straight NIT's the past 2 years.

Without him I can only imagine how bad it would have been. Yet some are so glad hes gone. Rude awakening could be comin.

Why the strawman? This has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

I dgaf why BCG was let go, the bottom line is, he was fired before he could do anymore damage. Facts are facts, Cal went 9-16, followed that up with the SP loss, then followed that up with a below average season and another team turmoil. The players hated each other and Wheeler pouted. There's no way that team should have sucked as bad as it did.

Cal's last 3 years have been embarrassing and those 3 years did a lot of damage to UK and I don't believe Cal has the ability to fix it. But you can $uck him off for as long as you want, IDC. I choose to recognize what he actually is. A below average bench coach and a stubborn idiot.
We were writing about the same post I guess at the same time but you got yours up 1st.😁

Tubby sure as hell let it slip. Don't try and rewrite history. His best teams, other than the 98 NCAA championship team which were all players that Pitino recruited and coached, were 1999, 2003 and 2004. Not one of those reached a FF, and yes, we might have if Bogans had been healthy against Marquette. Truth be told, Marquette was so hot that day that we might not have advanced even if Bogans had been fully Healthy. The last 4 years we weren't an NCAA championship contender and Tubby let our recruiting slip so bad that we settled for players like Orbutz, Pilgrim, Perry, Carrier, Saul Smith, Alleyne etc. Does anyone want to compare guys like Tshiebwe, Richards, Quickley, Maxey, SGA, Washington, Hero, Bam, Fox, Monk and Wallace to the players Tubby recruited his final 4 years? Crawford, Bradley and Morris were all above average players, but none of them had decent NBA or really any NBA careers to speak of. Tubby just could not or would not recuit. Either way, let's not kid ourselves that by the time we hired BCG, UK was no longer relevant in cbb the way it had been under all previous coaches beginning with Rupp. Even Sutton had a couple very good teams until the roof fell in.

Not so sure you are right about that. The fact that Tubby didn't get us to FF's means we were slipping because other programs were going and winning. Cal initially revived the program but then things did go south.

This is 2023 not 1973. Things have changed. I am a New York Yankee fan. They used to dominate Major League Baseball. Now they are still one of the best teams in MLB but they haven't won a championship in a long time.

We no longer have the Cal that was here from 09-15, that guy left the second the lifetime deal was signed. We have a completely different guy in charge now. I mean, you see that, right? Nobody is debating that from 09-15, Cal was incredible, that version of Cal would never lose like he has been losing and that version of Cal would never run and hide from the media and fans like this guy is.

WTF? Who gives a **** about what Tubby did or didn’t do?

I'll say this, Tubby never missed the tournament, he never had a 9-16 type season, he never lost to Evansville and Richmond type teams at home, he never played favorites, he never let the all time wins lead slip he never prioritized the NBA over UK, he never celebrated individual goals and accomplishments and he never **** on the fans or UK the way Cal has.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Nobody expected Cal to sustain his 09-15 run, but this run he is on now, is far worse than anything Tubby and BCG did. There is no justifying 9-16, that can’t be looked over.

The yankees are a joke. Highest payroll in baseball every year and every year, they get ousted early.

Came here to read news about Mitchell…..

End up reading a 5 page thread half of which is arguing Cal, Billy G & Tubby comparisons.

Par for the course these days. Sadly.

On topic—I really think Mitchell would be a huge get. I’m certain WVU hopes assigning Eilert the interim role will be helpful in keeping some players. Appears the Mitchell train may have already left the station (hopefully). But, as we have all experienced this off season, you never know with NIL & transfers.
