I don’t see any of the other elite programs going through this, at the moment, he has three players once again preventing him from signing anyone else with the hopes of their return. The vast majority of the top transfers have already committed elsewhere, he will reach his typical benchmark, an incomplete and unbalanced roster, though they’ll have great length and wingspans...

Not true. Cal would have signed Dickerson if he had committed. I bet he’d take Kobe brown if he had interest. How do we know that others aren’t holding off in case Oscar, reeves and Livingston return?

Dickinson was never coming here im fully convinced of it now, he wanted money and used Kentucky to get that. Cal is in some forms being held hostage, he is letting a guy who most know is gone and not making a decision, and with Oscar they waiting until the last minute when it seems he is gone

I guess you haven’t been around the last month. He went all in on Dickinson for Oscar’s spot. He is getting Keshad Johnson to fill Livingston’s spot. He knows Reeves is coming back so he isn’t filling his spot. He now has guys holding out on commitments waiting for Oscar’s final decision.

We don't know and for a lot of fans that's the frustrating part.Thing is,we wait and wait for these players to decide and then the portal players that MIGHT have interest in us bolt elsewhere while we continue to wait only to end up with our players leaving for the draft anyway.....then we end up with nothing

The two Kansas transfers and Grant Nelson are the ones we know of. There are also a few guys doing the same Oscar draft testing who will become available as transfers when the pull out of the draft.
I hope your right but forget the Kansas transfers...give me Nelson for sure and perhaps Cisse and I'll take it

There have been rumors on twitter about Kobe Brown likely will transfer if he doesn't enter the NBA Draft. Brown just graduated this past week and didn't have to hit the 5/11 date being a graduate transfer like Oscar. Julian Phillips and Olivier Nkamhoua both are in transfer portal as well as 6'11 Grant Nelson. I would take Kobe Brown and Grant Nelson in a snap especially Kobe Brown. His numbers this past year was 16 an 6 and shot 55% FG, 46% from 3 shooting 51/112 from 3, and 80% FT's. I would take Brown, Johnson, and grab another guard that can shoot and this team next year would be outstanding next season. Oscar, has already told Cal to complete the Roster and I am sure Livingston doesn't really care, the only one that we all have heard that will probably return is Reeves. There is Bradshaw that we have heard if a player like Grant Nelson or another player would come in that he would probably transfer. If it would be a player like Kobe Brown then say Goodbye. Like with Head Coach Self at Kansas at a couple of players that transferred and Self pretty much said Goodbye because Self knew he was getting a better ballplayer's and would help his team bigtime next year! I don't know much truth on some of the things on Twitter that was being said about Kobe Brown and Phillps but I wouldn't hesitate a minute on taking a Kobe Brown for next season!!

Give me 6'11 Grant Nelson, 6'9 Kobe Brown, or even 6'9 Olivier Nkamhoua and I would take any of these three players for next season. There are still some good solid players left in the Transfer portal for Head Coach Calipari to get 2 or 3 good solid players for next season!! My #1 pick of course with these 3 playes would be Kobe Brown and Grant Nelson right behind him. Cal just has to get aggresive and just go get 2 or 3 or whatever amount of players he needs for next season. I would not wait around on Reeves, Oscar, Livingston until 5/31 when more good solid playes have picked other teams. I also wouldn't worry about bringing these good solid players in and then hear that Bradshaw would probably leave if 6'11 Nelson or 6'9 Kobe Brown would transfer here at UK. If I was Cal I would be like Self, Musselman, and other Coaches when they go out and get 3 or 4 transfers and the next day we see these Coaches saying Goodbye to players because they are busy trying to make there teams better!

Then why do we have insiders saying UK backed off the Dickinson kid in the final hours b/c we had an incoming Freshman that wasn't happy with the idea of adding Dickinson? I mean, this isn't national dudes releasing this crap, it's local media, and someone is feeding them this garbage. So either we lost Dickinson, and the staff was doing damage control, or we didn't really want him. Which is it?

Who knows? I don’t and I’d bet the “insiders” don’t either. What we do know is, Cal tried hard to get Dickerson. And that Oscar told him to not worry about him coming back or not. As to other players waiting? Again, we don’t KNOW. We guess. We hang on every rumor. We listen to so called insiders but we won’t know until it actually happens.

I don't think Dickinson was ever a real option nor would he have been a good fit here.

I believe Oscar will return. I also think he is a better option than anyone still on the board. He is a better fit with the players we have than most here seem to think.

If he doesn't return then either Brown, Nelson or the kid from N C State in that order of preference

This sport would be a lot better if we went rolled it back to the old student athlete model and locked these guys down. NCAA has given athletes everything they've wanted in the name of fixing "exploitation" and the game has gone to ****. Athletes have shown they can't handle this level of freedom without becoming greedy and self centered themselves. I wish there was a better solution.

Exactly, how many times has Cal been played like a bass fiddle the last few years...if he were a horse, he'd already have been taken out back...

local media/insiders love to spin things when we miss out on a recruit
i would believe it more if it came from national media that has no dog in the fight

UK went all-in on HD i highly doubt at the very last minute UK backed off
that sounds like sour grapes

Agreed, why look to add another shooter to your roster. In todays basketball climate one shooting guard is plenty.

Don't be shocked if Brown transfers here just to sit on the bench until he's draft eligible. Because that's what "transfer to UK if not drafted" sounds like.

We will have three first rounders starting at the 1/2/3 spots next year. All are capable shooters. We will have Reeves and Sheppard coming off the bench who are great shooters. There aren’t any stud shooters who want to come and sit the bench behind those 5. Hell, CJ saw the writing on the wall and left.

When I read "capable shooters" I envision a March filled with bricks

And therein lies the problem. Why would a proven stud shooter suspect they will never see the floor over 4 unproven freshmen (3 really) as I suspect Sheppard rarely sees the floor aside from bunny competition. Sheppard will become Cals new whipping boy with a leash an inch long.

So should he try to get guys? You can’t have it all ways. If he tries, the guy uses him, then he shouldn’t have tried at all? Or should he not try, assume that he is being used, and move on? Either way, the fan base has him on a catch-22.

Those two Kansas transfers aren’t making a difference on this team in my opinion. It better be someone like Kobe Brown or Nelson if Oscar doesn’t return to have a solid team.

He's painted himself in that corner, Shadey Sharpe fully pulled back the curtain...he's now a victim of his own demise...he could never win without an overwhelming talent advantage, and now with NIL, he's in real school with a level playing field and the in-game coaching ability equal to Billy Gillispie.

Cal is the commanding officer of a rudderless ship, he will have a very nasty departure from UK, just like he’s had everywhere else.

It sucks but once again we won’t know what our roster will look like until the end of this month. Only can hope we have an ace up our sleeve if guys don’t return. Kinda like Murray in 2016.
