Cason was so frustrating because I do feel like he could have done it, but so often he played hesitant.
Didn't seem to ever really have that "scorers mentality".
Sure… as a spark off the bench that we don’t have to depend on, because we couldn’t depend on him and he can’t defend.
Once again people are overhyping the skinny freshmen coming in.
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Plus, we have had some damn good skinny big men come through here.

Cal really needs to utilize his 9 through 6 guys more. If he does that, those guys will be happy to get some burn.. it will keep bodies fresh, and we will be much more ready to go come March.
Had he just done this from the start, maybe Adou can play point guard today or maybe CL is better suited on the wing. This simple change might be enough to get us a Final 4.
But this 6/7 man only rotation, ESPECIALLY when those guys aren't exactly elite to begin with, killed us.
Reeves and Livingston would thrive on next year's team with legit penetrators like Wagner and Dilly.
Do any of you basketball bennies think it would be possible for Reeves to develop into a somewhat decent driver through contact over the summer? He's really bad at being able to score in the lane when bodied up. I guess part of it is he's not an explosive athlete. But he's 6'5" and 205 lbs. That should be enough to take 6'3" Guards to the hole a few times a game and this would likely force defenders to give him another step of space to shoot from the perimeter.

Just won a natty, had a severe heart issue that hospitalized him and rushed him into emergency surgery, major NCAA sanctions incoming (potentially).

The ncaa passed a rule in Dec that you can only transfer once with immediate eligibility going forward from that date . No waivers , etc . There’s only a few exceptions for hazing, sexual assault, etc …
I said it the other day, but he didn't look good coming off the floor for the interview after they beat us. He looked horrible. Red faced, bloated and disheveled looking.
The bigger question is why do we even need to ask nearly the entire team this question every year. Why are we still in this dynamic?

What would be Cal’s motivation for running off Reeves?
I think some people are just ready to be done. There’s a lot of players with extra COVID years who don’t use them and move on to something else whether it’s basketball or not (mainly referencing Wheeler and Frederick).
Livingston should come back. I think Collins will 100% be back if Oscar doesn’t return.

Have 3 serious shooters (Reeves + 2 transfers), and then guys like Wagner, Dilly, Livingston, Edwards and Bradshaw who are all at least capable of making them, and that is a potent roster.
Not to mention Reed, and then Ugonna and Bradshaw protecting the rim.

If you can’t work with the NPOY and a walking 20&15 that’s on the coaching. I mean Oscar single handedly bailed out the ****** offense of cal by grabbing rebounds over and over and getting easy buckets. It’s not Oscar’s fault he’s being played the way he is. Now Oscar’s pick and roll defense is something left to be desired. But I don’t have faith that Bradshaw Is the next AD bc the class is weak this incoming year and Cal simply hasn’t landed that type of player since bam/fox/monk. Telling Oscar he isn’t wanted/needed back would be idiotic. If you’re going to play 2 bigs at once he’s pretty much a perfect 4 for Cals “system”. He also had to hold up Cals worst PG wheeler for 2 seasons.
I’d definitely take reeves back he may get ice cold but he can get red hot. A poor man’s Malik monk

Agreed. Surround him with some more shooters and scorers and he's an excellent piece. I wish he could have found some rhythm today, though.
I met Ware seems like a level headed guy. I think he loves UK. He may be happy being on the team and backing up players. I will kinda be shocked if he leaves. Collins I just don’t know might want to get closer to home.
Lot to dissect here. Not to defend Cal, but he actually builds his offense around grabbing offensive rebounds. It isn’t a bailout. It’s the design.
Is it the coaching or the player? Chicken and egg I guess. Probably some blame to go around but truth is we haven’t been highly successful as a team with Oscar as the focus.
I think there’s a way to use Oscar that would be more effective. I also don’t think Oscar takes all that well to coaching. I think he has his own ideas about what success looks like, and that those things don’t necessarily mesh with the best team concept.
I wouldn’t play two bigs at once. Definitely not with Oscar at the 4. I get what you’re saying about Cal’s “system.” Don’t think that makes it the right decision.
Bottom line, this team had a lot of turmoil. Oscar was clearly part of that. We also haven’t been a very good team while revolving around Oscar.
Have things been ironed out enough that they can make it work next year? I have my doubts, but we’ll see. I expect Cal to do whatever he can to have his “perfect” group next year with as few distractions as possible. Then I think he exits. We’ll see.
