Absolutely LOVE seeing Tyler on the bench. If anyone can convince our guys to play with fight it is him
Cats as good as any team in the country when playing like this- defend, defend, defend, and get out in transition.
He's also gonna give you 100% when he's out there. Might be my favorite player since Jorts, tbh.
So, the question is, why doesn't he coach this way with Wheeler at the point? Obviously, if Wheeler wasn't doing what Cal wanted, he would bench him.
Told yall we would win by 12-15. Tennessee is not very good.
But Wheeler can't guard anybody. Wallace is the best option at point. He can beat his man off the bounce and he can shut guys down.
Wheeler is a double whammy, he throws the ball away on offense, then gets taken to the rack on defense.
We don't need DeArron Fox, we just need Marquise Teague.
Keep in mind, he’s dealing with back spasms too. This is not the game you wpuld use to try to prove Wallace isn't any good at point.
And left some points at the foul line. This team as bad as they are coached and played only have 2 losses if they make their dam foul shots.

Cal refuses to treat certain players like that. Wheeler and Collins are on that list unfortunately.

They are going to attack Oscar hard on the pick n roll in the 2nd half. He has to be smart and not foul.
We need a coach who is smart enough to get the best out of his players which is what he did in the first half of this game. If a players needs help, you give it to them just like he assisted those who are trying to play point today. You don't leave them on an island to get criticized like he has been doing.

Yeah but at what point do we stop complaining about offensive styles and realize the fact that we just might not have a very good offensive team personnel wise.
I feel like if this team is going to do anything of note, it'll have to be on the defensive side of the ball. Create some turnovers, get out in transition. This team will have to win differently than other UK teams in the Cal era IMO.
Best half I’ve seen CCC coach all season. Wheeler and Collins being hurt helped him.

Like to see Fredrick get some more clean looks in the 2nd half. Would be nice for Wallace to try and take his man off the bounce and free up Oscar from the help or give him some offensive put back opportunities.
The question is is Cal doing this out of necessity or has he seen this is the way to go?

If this UK teams beats the number 5 team in the nation on the road, let's not diminish it. That might be the best win we get all season long.

I just don't like it when players get criticized for doing what their coach wants them to do. Reeves showed that he can be effective at the point with some screen action. That is a coach using his imagination to get the job done with the players he has and not with the ones he wishes he had.
