Twitter smoke RE: Sharpe being ineligible for NBA Draft

I seen tweets saying Sharpe was ineligible, some of the accounts that reported this I’ve never heard of before……. But Ant Wright who is well known has tweeted this is true. Shaedon Sharpe is not eligible, I’m sure we will here more about this tomorrow. Go to his twitter and you can see what he says about the situation.

It is a possibility. Something about even though he had the credits he didn't actually graduate until after the deadline. However, even if this scenario plays out Kentucky always seems to come up with the short end of the stick. So Im still skeptical.

well according to some on here Cal knew he was eligible for the draft
Lol, so many posters here look like absolute idiots with their statements on Sharpe. Who knows what will happen, but so many here have talked about this like they know all the facts and have been a fly on the wall for every conversation Sharpe and Cal have had.

FWIW, here is Givony’s 1/20 ESPN article stating that Sharpe could apply for the draft:

And here is Vecenie and Tucker’s 1/20 Athletic article confirming the same:

If it turns out they were wrong all along, or that there’s a critical semantic distinction between “can apply for” and “eligible,” I’m gonna LMAO about all the hand wringing this board has done over the past three months. Then my head’s gonna explode over the prospect of our ‘22-23 roster.

The question I was asking back when Givony reported on this was: who was Givony’s source and were they from the NBA?

In the past, the NBA would not issue an eligibility determination until after you had officially declared as an early entry player.

So the timing of Givony’s article in January seemed a bit odd to me at the time. I’m not saying there’s truth this report about Sharpe. I’m only saying that getting an official eligibility ruling from the NBA in January was highly unusual timing.

EDIT: not sure why the preview below is showing that post instead of showing the post that is linked if you click on it.

Good to know, thanks.

Okay then why did Cal not play him this year? Nobody has answers that question with a satisfying answer, only "why do you care, stop being so negative."
I honestly think his team and Sharpe knew he wouldn’t be eligible. I know reports came out mid season that he was eligible but why would Sharpe continue to tell Kentucky he will be there next season? Not to mention a Sharpe return and a Reeves commitment to Uk is all supposed to be known by this weekend.

All I know is this situation was screwed up from The get go by UKAA…and that includes Cal and Rachel Baker in compliance. They should know the rules inside and out
I don't understand why Cal never played him. Part of the reason Cal is getting so much flack on this is because he is, as always, not truthful with the fans. Sharpe sat on the bench all year. Just tell us, the media, somebody that Sharpe's eligibility is up in the air so we aren't left sitting in the edge of our seats waiting to see if Sharpe will play next game.

They will let him in on a technicality and his people will say he graduated and had enough credits, it’s basically did he graduate in December or the summer, at the very least he is going to go through the draft process and fight it
I love the way people say "technicality", "loophole", "he will fight it", like hiring a lawyer means you just win. Everyone has lawyers. Enis Kanter and UK had the best and lost. The rules are what the rules are. I don't know what they are, but to say "he'll fight it on a technicality" and assume that means he goes to the NBA is very simple thinking.

For one I’ll go on record saying sharpe is super dumb and no way he graduated on time per nba rules that I’m super knowledgeable on and he has to come back to UK.

I wouldn’t have believed some of the accounts who broke the news. But Ant Wright has been tweeting about it along with other reliable people.

Knowing he wasn’t eligible, there is zero reason not to play. You can make something up, can conjure up an excuse, still zero reason not to play.

He may not win it but him waiting until the very last minute should tell everyone they are lining everything up and coming up with back up plans in case he isn’t eligible or they have to prove he graduated on time, that what I mean by fighting it, he is going to test the draft process, people are getting there hopes up to much

I think part of the problem is this whole situation has been extremely messy and very fluid from the beginning. People on hear were talking about it like it was set in stone and they KNEW this or that had to be true when in reality it was anything but. Despite what many hear think, who knows what really went on and continues to go on behind closed doors. It might just be that no one really knew exactly what plans were because they kept changing. And then once it became clear injuries were really going to affect this team, you can't throw a kid out there in mid March.

People act like there's some grand conspiracy going on behind the scenes where Cal is sitting this kid intentionally for the sole purpose of getting him to the NBA without playing a game and rumors are planted by Cal's secret minions to manipulate the fanbase. I think Occam's Razor applies here. The fanbase was never told what was going on because no one really knew. Eventually someone made the decision he wasn't going to play and that was that.

If it was Sharpe or his camp that decided he wasn't going to play, Cal wasn't going to throw them under the bus if there was any sort of chance he'd return. If this rumor is true, all the people saying "well if he's not going to play kick him off the team!" should realize this is exactly why you don't kick him off the team and exactly why Sharpe was a gamble worth taking. It's absurd that so many people thought they knew with certainty what was happening and somehow knew better than the coaching staff. Maybe next time people can chill out and wait until a situation resolves itself before getting out their pitchforks.

Still Cal should have told the fans after said point, we are jot playing Sharpe. He never did.

Truth is no one knows one way or another so there's no use getting upset about it. There are a million possible reasons why he didn't play and there's the possibility there was no reason not to play. But no one was there when the decision was made. Diallo didn't play his first semester here either. I'm guessing he didn't play for the same reason Sharpe didn't play. But the coaching staff that gets paid millions of dollars to make these decisions sure as hell knows more about the situation than this board does.

And the haters wail…

Far Cal!!!!!
Nickels ... I see you're still fixated on "hate". It's all you think about and it's all you post about ... except for your occasional fetish with Farts and Slobber ... which reminds me that the universe is made of protons, neutrons, electrons, and morons. That's how I see the universe ... with you in it. Weird, right?

Why have a deadline if you can't wait until that deadline to make a decision. By saying he should just announce you assume he knows what he is going to do. Everyone has assumed that he knows he is going pro, and he might, but there are reason they have deadlines. You are allowed to wait until the last minute to do things. I do it every time my wife asks me to do something by a certain time.

Sounds like his academics were horse poop. Nobody knew a damn thing until the NBA took a closer look now. This is gaining major momentum
