I know Lunardi is dogshit at this, but he updated his bracket this morning.

Cats dropped from a 1 seed to the second 2 seed

personally I don't think there is much difference in a 1 or 2 seed - the path to the final four is about equally hard. We just have to play out and finish strong, hopefully injury free.

My only concern is if Auburn is a 1 seed, then the reality is we likely tanked in the SEC tourney

I'd like to think we didn't peak at Kansas.

I agree. Is Providence any tougher than UCLA, Wisconsin, Texas or Texas Tech? I have my doubts.

Really the key is not falling below a 3. I think O saw a stat that since the 3 Pt line in 87 only 4 teams have won a title when lower than a 3rd seed. Something like 32-36 have been top 3 seeds with 9 champions coming from either 2 or 3.

at this point, unless its because of injury, there is no reason to be a 3 seed.

Same. It’s just highly disappointing that we were on the road to our first one seed in forever and once again have to settle for something else.

if the 2 seed survives the inevitable early round scare, there is something to be said about coming in as the underdog against the #1.

Usually we respond well to that.

Kansas and Baylor getting ranked over us makes zero sense. I'm not sure how they could give that to kansas

If Kansas can get back to a one seed from the *** kicking we gave them, then a 1 seed is still in play for us. We need to win the next 3.

Weird, we blow KU out, we play a harder schedule and lose on the road to a team that is hot right now and KU replaces us on the 1 line.
If KU played at UT last night, they lose by 20, easily.

UT's defense last night would have beaten anyone in the country. Good thing is - they will never play that hard again, the rest of this year.

I didn't click on the link but BBN is pretty dang large...surely we can whip a profitable "Bracketology" that's better and more acceptable than eSpN Lunnies weekly one.

Exactly, makes no sense. We thump KU on their court and then right after they thump Baylor but their both in front of us. Tn on the road is tough and their ranked 16th. They beat Arz who is a 1, us who were a 1 and play 1 Aub sat. If they beat Aub then that loss should hurt us even less it we sweep Bama who beat the Zags.

That would be 3 1 seeds for TN if they can pull it off. Of course after playing out of their minds against us they will probably flop Sat.

We can’t lose another game if we want a 1 seed, IMHO.

Lose one more and we can still get a 2 seed.

Drop two more and we drop to a 3 seed.

We need to stay on the 2 seed line.

Tennessee has the #4 defense in the country. It wasn't a total outlier performance.

They’re definitely a lot better now than they were a month ago, but they're intensity level at home is really high, nobody is beating UT in TBA this year.

Lets see what they do to Auburn now.

There’s an epidemic of people on this board overreacting to the impact of our loss for seeding purposes. First of all, no one should’ve been irrational enough to assume we’d win out until the NCAAT (and I’m not sure we’d even want to). Secondly, Lunardi still has us as the overall #6. The 1 and 2 seed lines will be musical chairs for the next 4 weeks. We are very much in play for one seed considering the difficulty of our schedule and the opportunity for Quad 1 wins.

Kansas and Baylor play in a couple weeks and if all is equal at that point one will have to drop. Kansas isn’t that good and they could easily lose in Morgantown Saturday. Baylor has TT tonight and still plays at Texas. A lot of losses accumulating for the top of the Big12.

Agree. Texas tech may be the best team in that conference. They remind me a Lil bit of Houston last year. Get after you on D, that translates in March. I personally can't see Kansas or Baylor making it past the sweet 16.

Agree. I knew TT would be a factor seeing them rack up grind it out wins against good competition without their 2 best players.

At this point in the season UK fans need to root AGAINST teams who might compete with the Cats for a 2 seed should
Cats struggle a little down the stretch. UKs resume is a solid 2.

Root against Texas Tech, Wisconsin, UCLA, Providence, etc

Alabama game will be tough as it’s a revenge game for them and we will likely be without TyTy. A very tough Arkansas game on the road and also a game we should win against Florida on the road but it’s not a gimme. Time to lace them up tight.

Just no way we lose at Florida. They are awful. Somehow they keep on the bubble with an overinflated NET ranking.
They are 4-9 against Quad 1/2 🤮

All of the Big XII teams (except Texas Tech) have been overrated all season. They all have a bloated SOS, because all of them are rated too high. We, meaning the SEC, proved that head-to-head. I'll take a #2 if Kansas is the #1. They don't scare me.

Baylor’s loss tonight is equivalent to our loss at UT, and we will pass them on Lunardi’s seed line shortly. Like I said, musical chairs. After being irrelevant last season it is great to be in a position where games in other conferences affect our end game.

Yes , Kansas# 4 and uk#5. I know things will change but if it stays that way, how can the committee not look at our head to head and give uk the nod.
