I love the idea of a truce. Will never happen though. There was a poster on the board last night, a Kentucky fan, that was so pissed that we won that he declared he was just leaving rafters. Just couldn’t take it anymore. He’s not the only one. We literally have “fans” that get giddy when uk plays bad or loses. How did we get to this point?

I’ve been rummaging around rivals for at least 20 years or so. I cannot imagine a fan from another fanbase strolling in here and bashing our team, coaches, and players daily and still be allowed to stick around. Hell, it was usually the posters that would run those people off. Were is our pride? We are gonna allow our own fans to cheer for Kentucky’s demise and rub it in our faces when we lose? Insanity. Kentucky is the number 1 program of all time. But the malcontents are beginning to define the fanbase. I’m talking about the extreme and over the top malcontents. We all get frustrated over things surrounding the team sometimes.

Kentucky fans have endured some lean times in basketball and football. A lot with football. But we aren’t that lean right now. 99 percent of college teams would swap places with Kentucky in a heartbeat. I believe last season fractured the fanbase and I’m not sure how it gets repaired

Truth is there is some " I told you so " from both sides of the spectrum currently .. Poster's who when we blow a game again an inferior opponent use every excuse in the book and have a " ah shucks " attitude and say " Oh well when do we play again ,I'm sure we will right the ship". and we do have a few " I told you so" that take the advantage to crow about what a snake oil salesman Cal is every time we lose . Its bad , but Cal took so many jabs at BBN it was bound to bite him in the *** in some fashion.

You want to discus basketball issues like the exact ones I mentioned in my post I'm game , but not an invitation to just get in a name calling competition .
I’m not calling names, but I see it from people all the time and it’s primarily people thinking they are smart for hating Cal and if you don’t hate Cal, you’re a coach-first fan or don't understand basketball...... Gibberish. Glad we didn’t let the Einstein’s here buyout Cal for Hall n’ Oats, lol. Have a good one.

It's just not ok to be up 15 at home with 12 mins to go and have to win in overtime. Miss St isn't that good and they couldn't make free throws or we would have lost. That and the Vandy melt down at the end, we get beat by guards to much. People are mad about it. We can't execute well enough to be a very good team.
And …as the broadcast showed multiple tlmes their Big Man was out for the game as well and he puts up some decent numbers.

I think there is enough common ground out there for both sides to come to an agreement and I would love that, but there are some posters that love to bait and antagonize. That doesn't help the situation.

I get attacked by certain people on here daily, then I bark back and it's on. I'm as much to blame for the arguments I get in as the person I'm arguing with, I should just let it go, but that's easier said than done.

The way I look at it, the best cure is winning. We badly need something great to happen with this program. We've had too many devastating endings and an awful season that all left a bad taste in our mouths.

I make absolutely no qualms about the fact that I snipe at people. There are lots of folks on here that have outright become gaslighters and bullies. I don’t think it should go unchecked. So then we are off to the races. Winning is the best cure. But we won’t win all the time. So people have cope better. There are so many dead horses already laying around. Things would improve a lot if we left them there. At this point there is nothing more that can be said or hashed out about certain topics.

Tired of fans telling other fans how they need to act , cheer , whether they can be pissed or not . Its a really bad look to rub wins in the faces of what should be your fellow fans . OP seems to be a good poster , but man stop the attacks .. were people pissed Mintz couldn't guard a post last night ? yeah. Were people questioning what seemed like a bizarre substitution pattern ? yeah. Are people pissed we have a lottery pick getting on the bench doing nothing ? yeah . Were people asking why no TO at the end when we end up throwing up a poor attempt ? There are some legit gripes . Live with it . We scream about injuries but MSU had a high scorer out as well. Theres a certain segment where 100% of everything we do is peaches and cream . Thats more harmful than demanding excellence IMO .. carry on fellow fans .
Yeah. Which is worse, criticizing Cal or blasting fellow fans for it? There is now some genuine bad blood on this board, and the mods have completely lost control.

Right, so when I have trolls attacking me and saying that I "hate UK" and I "hate Cal", I have a problem with that and when I correct these posters, the ******** starts and the mind games continue through multiple posts.

Most of us don't 'hate Cal' and none of us 'hate UK', we simply hate Cal's hard headedness, we hate when he talks down to us, like we're no knowledge hillbilly's and we don't like the one-and-done system, it's just not going to work.

It's when I make those statements that the trolls come out of the woodwork and attack. I'm not going to budge on these things, so if we're going to find common ground, there has to be some understanding on the other side on these things, right now, there is no understanding, there is no respect and there is no civil discourse.

I try not to attack, or belittle others for saying Cal is great, but that's not how it's put, that phrase is usually put in a post that is already attacking me for my opinions.

Then there are the baiting threads that happen every time Alabama and Baylor lose. Smashcat started one last night. What is the purpose of those, other than to start a war?

Great post. I would absolutely LOVE if this happened. I would love it if we could just call a truce and just support this current team. It would make my job much easier and it would make my life much more at peace. There was a time when this board was a total joy for me, a pure pleasure. It is a misery right now.

Misery with a top 10 team that’s leading the SEC in scoring. If that doesn’t scream “agenda posters gonna agenda,” I don’t know what does.

I actually agree with you on this kyjeff- winning solves most of this.
And just for the record, I know I go back and forth with some of you guys here, but I really do understand where you're coming from. I was as frustrated with last season as anyone. It was the "perfect storm" in so many ways and so many factors played into it, but there is no question that the one and done model is the reason the program was susceptible to what ended up happening. I've never liked the one and done model, but I have understood it as a necessary evil to get the best players. Problem is, the best players haven't been coming in recent years. All that to say, I get it. I get irritated with the nitpicking at times but I have no ill will toward anyone here, not even the guy who created 6 different accounts just to troll my posts. :)

This is a societal issue. Everybody has to have the last word. The only solution is for one side to stop and hope the other follows suit eventually.

Appreciate that post ILW. I've always tried to be respectful to you and anyone else that is respectful to me.

It certainly doesn’t take a genius to see that I care about the program when I repeatedly state my displeasure for the one-and-done system Cal keeps trying to force. It's bizarre to me that someone can read that and say I hate UK. I don't hate Cal either.

I want UK to be the best, but it’s obvious that what Cal is trying to do, is not what’s best for UK. It might work in certain years, but when it doesn’t work, it's a disaster. If you give Cal an experienced roster, he proves that he's a damn good coach.

The only way to effectively ensure that is on a one for one basis, using the ignore feature. Otherwise the harassment continues. 90% of the attacks are from Cal supporters attacking Cal critics for going after him, and then the war starts. I don't see Cal critics jumping all over supporters when they say something good about him - calling them idiots, retards, haters, etc.

Does it change things? Just trying to figure out the bi polar Rollercoaster some of you suffer from.

Players got in foul trouble, players got hurt, one was already out, some didn't play well, they blew a lead, went to overtime, and still found a way to win.

That's a good experience, good test of adversity, and different challenges.

It's always about growing and learning in different situations. Some of you can't grasp that. It's why they don't just play the ncaa tournament from the start and call it a day.

I'll give you some advice, therapists are available everywhere...most of them even offer telehealth so you can still stay at home.
Do you feel that amateur moderators, like yourself, actually change anything for the better, or does your bitching add to the bitching, and make it worse? I go for the latter.

I’m hearing a lot of “I confess, he did it”. Everyone needs to own their part in all of this. At this point we all know what threads and comments are going to gaslight people. It’s both sides. Although there are many more “cal sucks” threads started than “cal is great” threads. “Cal is great” threads are so 2015 at this point. The Alabama and Baylor threads are clownish as well.

We are pissing away a good time right now. I love our team this year and I cannot imagine how anyone couldn’t. Just like me, Jeff you don’t need to act like a saint right now. You’ve pounded a lot of dead horses and I’ve done my part in rebuttal.

We’ll see you shouldn’t be calling people “supporters” now that a mod is watching. You normally use the term “slurpers” or something to that effect and it’s unprovoked a lot of the time. Again to use the term “I confess, he did it”. We gotta own our part here. We all know the roles we play in all of this.

At this point everyone knows who the main critics are as well as the main supporters. Those folks may just have to take it upon themselves to hold their tongue unless they have something to say that they haven’t already said a hundred times. Again, there are dead horses everywhere.

Everybody needs to compromise a bit. Get back to moving toward the common ground and ultimate goal of supporting UK. Having fun. Cal’s made some requested changes. BBN is the greatest fan force in college when united. Opinions vary which is great but digging in and never acknowledging or compromising is exhausting. Just like politics these days. Lost is the art of agreeing to disagree but finding areas of compromise.

Well, lets be real though, if you own new truck and you do a google search on a specific problem you're having with it, you're going to find multiple threads about that truck in muptiple forums.

When you visit those forums, 90% of what you see are negative comments about that truck, or that model. You begin to believe it sucks.

Well, the truth is, nobody gets on a forum to tell everyone how the truck they paid good money for, is getting them from point A to point B with no issues, why? Because that's what it's expected to do.

Same thing here, only the fish man and his sidekick KL90210 come here to talk about how great Cal is and when a highly paid coach has come up short this many times, then had a historically bad season, you can't possibly expect to see a bunch of 'CAL IS GREAT' posts from posters that have any level of intelligence beyong that of a lab rat.

The bottom line with me is, nothing I have said is untrue. I'm not fabricating anything, yet I get attacked daily, by the keyboard Goonies on this board and get told I'm a cry baby that hates Kentucky and Cal. That's some annoying ******** right there.

I don’t feel like you’ve ever posted non-factual information. At this point both sides of the argument can bolster their point using facts because the data is readily available. There’s enough stats and records to cherry pick from.

I gather that you feel attacked and you don’t like that. But if you continue to use terms like “cal cult” then you are probably gonna get some ****. We’ve been around long enough to learn the trigger words. Most of the fights on here could be avoided if you don’t want to fight. That goes for everyone really. At this point we are choosing to fight and we know it.

I swear if an alien got dropped here from Mars tomorrow and read this board then he’d swear we are in worse shape than Louisville. Low and behold we are top 15 and have a player of the year candidate (who could very well return next year).

Nah, I don't feel attacked, that would be weird.
What I see though, is a bunch of dudes too immature to understand what it is I've been saying. If someone reads my posts and comes away thinking I hate UK and Cal, well, they either had pre-conceived notions, they have a serious reading comprehension problem, or they just want to troll because they know I'm right and they hate it.

It's a lose-lose situation when clowns are allowed to troll like that.

This. The ones that need help getting over it are the ones that whine about others whining. The rest of of us got it off our chests and never thought twice about it.
Exactly. People like myself that complain are celebrating after wins.

While guys like the OP are still thinking about the posters they don’t like. I think that’s called “being in someone’s head”.

I don’t see why there needs to be a truce. Everyone just needs to accept where we are. Call a spade a spade.

I’ve always said, regarding your other comment, that it’s absurd to see grown people taking social media and message boards so seriously. Don’t really get it. When I was in 9th grade it was just for kids. ICQ had no adults on it. MySpace was for kids. Facebooks started out for college kids. It wasn’t intended to be serious, it was intended for kids. If you’re an adult and you’re taking social media and message boards that seriously, you need to go back to reading books. This ain’t for you. Really it was never intended for you anyway and it seems like older adults have ruined it more so than 17 year olds.

You literally just said you got attacked, but you don’t feel attacked? Wtf.

I’ve been trying to level with you. Shoot it straight with you and I think I’ve been fair. I’ve admitted my role in the friction and I was hoping you’d do the same. But you’re not contrite at all. All you care about is playing the victim. People that oppose you are too immature to understand you or they are trolling you because they know you’re right and they’re wrong. Come on dude. Show a shred of humility. Don’t act so high and mighty

I am relatively new here. I love the board and enjoy the varying opinions about UK basketball that are voiced here. Most of our fans are pretty knowledgeable, passionate and opinionated, that’s ok. What I don’t get are the daily threads vilifying one segment of our fan base or another. What purpose does it serve. Heres what I know, I have been to Maui when about 90 percent of the fans there are UK fans . I have been to Vegas and the Meadowlands when a third to half the fans in attendance are UK people who traveled hundreds of miles to see the Cats. I have been to SEC tournaments where half to 2/3 s of the crowd where ours. I have been to NCAA tournaments where half the stadium crowds are UK fans. NOBODY else in basketball does this , NOBODY. We have the best fans in college basketball. You guys perpetuating the civil war going on with a portion of our fan base. WHY DONT YOU GIVE IT A REST
Idk how long you’ve been a fan but since I was a kid growing up in the 80s listening to the post game show one thing has always be consistent. UK fans question the coaching decisions and they don’t put up with mediocrity or losing. The problem is cal and his followers cannot and will not be questioned. It turns visceral and there is legit hatred. Tubby didn’t have that type of mob protecting him, neither did pitino or BCG. I remember most fans thought it was time for Joe B to go. hell fans created the craziest website to oust tubby. He had zero cult following.

Even in 1995 under pitino I remember listening to the post game show and callers would say “why this play and not that one?” Even after a blow out win! This is UK basketball it comes with high standards and now it is at a fever pitch of questions because 1. We lost so much last year and 2. We are constantly mislead. BBN has always been the caretaker of this program and barney rendered it insignificant with the contract he gave cal.

can I get behind and support this team? Friggin of course right on! It makes it tough though when the coach is so defensive that he becomes a grandstander and lies, talks down to UK fans. That’s a whole other layer. Cal just needs to be straight. He’s not winning any fans every time he misleads. He’s not winning any games from misleading. So many years of mediocrity by UK standards now from cal and a lack of humility, taking us for granted by misrepresenting. The fans who have always been stewards of the program now have an obstacle. The cult that follows the coach. I don’t even think it’s a civil war. I bet most of those who are in the cult I bet most of them are fans of other teams stiring the pot or fans who followed cal from Memphis. I refuse to believe that genuine UK fans would actually waste their breath trying to defend Cal. I’ll support the program no matter what but the coach and program are independent of one another at this point bc the best interest and what’s important to the coach do not align with our program and fans as a whole. This constant questioning of cal is nothing new to a Uk coach and he and his followers need to sack up quit being triggered every time someone questions a decision or any decision.

I mean it’s so insane the the cal cult has crapped on sharpe as “not needed” or “he’s not going to play”. I feel they just want cal to be right and puppet his every word.

I am glad the “Cal Cult” is sticking because some people need to be called on it. Not even talking about the people that think he’s the best choice, or a great coach, or even ones that pump him a bit too much.

Here’s how you know you’re a Cal Cult member. If you have made excuses for not playing Sharpe, just as you said here, then you’re probably of the Cal Cult. If you said “he’s smart for not playing”, “He will return like Calipari says”, or “he’s not ready”, then you’re probably of the Cal Cult. Reason being? You can only believe this if you’re following Calipari flip flopping, and the only way you’re going to do that is if you only care to back what he does. That’s a cult member.

I say after many post with people like this, be a UK fan.

***** Moan Gumplain?

Which that’s always been wired to me too. The vast majority of fans I see complaining are hardened Calipari supporters. Everyone else is just discussing what’s going on. That’s how it seems to me anyway.

I hate to tell people, but constantly bitching on a sports message board about negativity even when it’s not negative, is negativity lol. I mean what else are we supposed to do here when we’re not performing to expectations? Just drop a “love u Cal” and log off?

Not directed at you or anyone in particular. Just an observation.
