Tell me you've never played organized basketball without telling me you've never played organized basketball.Dudes thats such a stretch it just cant be believed . Man to man D isn't Nuclear Physics .
How many on here that actually doesn't think that Cal's players first attitude isn't a great recruiting tactic? Would he be better off telling them I don't care about your kid?
You are killing me. Don't you know that all he has to do is dribble drive. And as for defense, Cal runs mostly man defense which is something that is mostly used at the AAU level. Also, a good coach should be able to hide a weaker defender on the court. However, if you are a one trick pony, I see how it might be a big problem. It is amazing how players that Cal wouldn't play because of poor defense are able to go elsewhere to the benefit of themselves and the teams that take them. I get tired of defense being the reason why Cal doesn't play great shooters on his teams.Offensively, Sharpe would be fine right now. However, defense is also part of the game. If he gives us 10 points but gives up 15 due to losing his man on D, how exactly would that help us?
He's only been here two weeks. This is high level basketball not high school or AAU. If he hasn't seen the floor two weeks then I'll be with you and will even bring my own pitchfork.
Because those are the two choices, lolHow many on here that actually doesn't think that Cal's players first attitude isn't a great recruiting tactic? Would he be better off telling them I don't care about your kid?
I see it doesn't take much to please you. This is UK you are talking about, not some mid-major. Cal didn't make a single adjustment to his offense today. When they were pressuring Wheeler just as he crossed of half court, all he had to do was to flash Oscar to the free-throw line to pull Kessler(sp) from under the basket so that he could send cutters to the basket. If Kessler didn't follow Oscar from beneath the basket, Oscar has shown that he can easily make that shot. If they double teamed Oscar, he could have passed out to his wing players for open 3s.Then lets talk about seasons
2010 = 22nd
2011 = 8th
2012 = 2nd
2013 = 38th
2014 = 14th
2015 = 6th
2016 = 9th
2017 = 12th
2018 = 24th
2019 = 14th
2020 = 24th
2021 = 84th
2022 = 4th
Those are the offensive adjected efficiency ranks under Cal. There's very few coaches in college basketball that have better marks than that consistently.
Fair enough. Do you think Sharpe plays this year? If not, do you believe he’ll be back next year?Has anyone stopped to think that just maybe Cal is staying the course of an agreement to a kid and group that just happens to be the # 1 kid in a class? Let’s just say he says nah screw it, I know we agreed how this should proceed but now I changed my mind.
How would the next opportunity at a top kid work out?
How do you think this works?
It’s been tougher lately recruiting.
This kid is at the top of a class.
Let’s have Cal break an agreement and see how recruiting which is already more difficult goes from now on.
Regional Champ on a team ranked in the top 10 my Jr year .. Regional Semi finals my Sophomore year . One of my teammates was a Cat .. so .. how about you ?Tell me you've never played organized basketball without telling me you've never played organized basketball.
If he doesn't play this season we aren't seeing him next season so it's our only chance.Please don't tell be you are buying his handler's bs about being here next season.Has anyone stopped to think that just maybe Cal is staying the course of an agreement to a kid and group that just happens to be the # 1 kid in a class? Being top 15 in offense in 6 of the last 9 seasons is terrific no matter what program you are. What are you even talking about?I see it doesn't take much to please you. This is UK you are talking about, not some mid-major.
Congrats. You should be smarter than you are then.Regional Champ on a team ranked in the top 10 my Jr year .. Regional Semi finals my Sophomore year . One of my teammates was a Cat .. so .. how about you ?
Now now now, don't go start making any sense or logical statements for the young uns' to start bickering over now, ya' hear?“Players first” that means everything else, titles, banners, team goals, are all secondary. Not sure why this needs to be explained over & over ad nauseam. The sooner each individual on here reconciles that in their individual mind, the better the group will be. In other words…this is a “poster first” forum.
I’ve over it. I honestly believe that today, we would have finished the game with 4 guys if it came to that. I’m not complaining about today. I thought we held our own. TyTy going down was the difference. CBS showed him walking back to the locker room. Hell I thought he would get re-taped, change his shoes and be right back. Again, this being a players first program, he was held out the rest of the game.
Our biggest concern is consistent production at the 4. We cannot make a Final 4 run with Brooks/Toppin at the 4. Brooks, for obvious reasons, Toppin, just very inconsistent. So that worries me more than if some dude plays here or not.
We have a good team this year. 15-4 I am very happy with. I think we can finish strong, 23-6, hopefully win the SEC tourney, get a #2 or #3 seed and take our shot.
Honestly, being top 15 in 6 of the last 9 doesn’t actually sound terrific to me. Not for UK. It sounds pretty good. But not terrific.Being top 15 in offense in 6 of the last 9 seasons is terrific no matter what program you are. What are you even talking about?
Meh, understandable, I just think it’s pretty good due to the consistencyHonestly, being top 15 in 6 of the last 9 doesn’t actually sound terrific to me. Not for UK. It sounds pretty good. But not terrific.
So he’s not good enough to be in 5 on 5?They said on the post game that Sharpe hasn’t even practiced 5 on 5 yet. No way he should have put him in there.
Top 15 66% of the time. That’s above average. It’s definitely not great. JmhoMeh, understandable, I just think it’s pretty good due to the consistency

They were getting in shape which is fine when you have 2+ months. To suggest you’re going to take 2 months to get in shape at this point is just stupid. In shape for what? The season will be over in two months.Kyle Tucker working PR overtime. I don’t even know what that last tweet means.
Top 15 66% of the time. That’s above average. It’s definitely not great. Jmho
Every time hopkins touches the floor it’s an immediate -6 pt swing. The guy tries to make plays instead of accepting a role.Hopkins isn’t ready either. But he’s in there.
Such nonsense. Cal breaking some alleged agreement will have zero effect on recruitingHas anyone stopped to think that just maybe Cal is staying the course of an agreement to a kid and group that just happens to be the # 1 kid in a class? Have we started hanging banners based on offensive efficiency?Being top 15 in offense in 6 of the last 9 seasons is terrific no matter what program you are. What are you even talking about?

AAU and HS isn't high level 5 on 5Guy has been playing high level 5 on 5 his entire life. He doesn't need to practice it.
As a former AAU coach and high school coach, I know a lot about both of them. I also know a lot about slick talking college coaches that are better at talking than coaching.Like I said, he should play this season. I'll be pissed if he doesn't.
However, respectfully, you have no idea what you're talking about. AAU is really known for great defense isn't it? The concepts of M2M are fairly simple, but there is a lot of nuance when playing it at a high level. You don't just show up on campus ready to go on D without a few weeks of practice. I'm not some Cal defender here. I'm just being realistic.
But he will be NBA ready next season.Can't wait.AAU and HS isn't high level 5 on 5
Is this not the same offense that failed us so miserably last year?No we don't hang banners for it.
It's just silly to rag on the offense when we've had some very good offensive teams. Especially this season.
This times a thousand!!Some of you act like people want him to fly a damn airplane. It’s basketball. The game he is amazingly talented at. You are telling me he can’t get out there and play 7 minutes a game right now? Dontaie Allen is a better option? That’s what people believe? He will never play a minute here. People need to stop it.
Being ready and being drafted isn't the same thing.But he will be NBA ready next season.Can't wait.
Very well stated!!Some of you act like people want him to fly a damn airplane. It’s basketball. The game he is amazingly talented at. You are telling me he can’t get out there and play 7 minutes a game right now? Dontaie Allen is a better option? That’s what people believe? He will never play a minute here. People need to stop it.
Yeah to all the above! Cal likes winning the recruiting wars too. He has to dress him so that some of you believe that the kid really came here to play. He might play some this year as we get closer to the tourney so as to give the NBA scouts something to look at and talk about, but unless he gets injured and has to come back to show the NBA that he is alright, he will not be here for next season.Can I ask a really basic question? If Sharpe isn’t going to play, why is he wearing a uniform? Is that a dumb question? I don’t know.
Is this not the same offense that failed us so miserably last year?
Any Coach that has taught kids to play a zone probably doesn’t lose. UK got killed by the same pick and roll play all day!If we grabbed a guy from the Y, I’m not sure we lose.
Way to twist an argument lmaoHave we started hanging banners based on offensive efficiency?
You are correct. We will not see another team as bad as last year which is why Cal is bringing in transfers as fast as he can get them. However, we are not likely to win another championship either unless Cal starts holding on to his players for more than one season so that they can learn this extremely complicated and efficient offense.Our offense was awful last year because lets be honest here the players we had were completely ineffective.
Askew is playing in a different offense now and he still stinks.
I'm not sure anyone could have coached that team and had an effective offense.
I would venture to bet tho we don't see another one that is that bad ever again.
