Some of you won't like to hear this, but DA has totally lost all confidence in his shot and his game.

I will let you figure out who tore him down to the place he is mentally right now.

Think Roderick Rhodes. Not the first time we've seen this at UK.

This is 100% on Allen. Blaming the coach is lazy. If Allen was from TN you wouldn't be spouting this. Hell people would bash calipari for ever playing him.

Pitino did a number on Rhodes, but our fan base is to blame for Allen’s situation. I hope y’all don’t do this to Reed Sheppard.

Yep. Made Allen feel like he was being done wrong for so long that when he got his shot this year he crumbled under the pressure. BBN simply sucks at times.

Then again...put your big boy pants on if you're coming to UK.

A shooter who can’t shoot just can’t play in big games. Hope he stays and improves his all around game and can maybe contribute as a Senior.

Love Allen even tho his shot is in a slump rn. We all know he can shoot...we’ve seen it.

With that said, he needs to decide if a potential D.Willis role his senior year is ok w him or if he wants to be a starter for 2 years. If he’s not willing to be a role player as a senior then he should go to Butler or X or somewhere
If I was a player and I could make “100k” whatever the number is but even if it’s close to that and play that role I’d be so happy.

The most ignorant thing you can say about Allen is that he sucks because of Cal. Cal expects someone that came to UK to shoot to do just that, what a terrible person he is. He’s done the same thing to Grady. I’ll let you look at the difference between the two.

Allen will be okay. Just not good enough to play here right now. It gets tough playing in mop up time knowing all eyes are on you to hit one. He would have an easier time playing in the rotation, but that's not what is best for the team right now.

I think the kid needs to focus on tightening his handle and doing anything he can to improve lateral quickness so he can get into a place where he can do more than take set shots.

I think once he can find other ways to contribute especially on offense it will allow a much greater comfort zone for himself, his teammates, and the coach and then the shots will fall and he will have another breath to get them off too.

I’m not sure that “right now” excuse applies anymore. He’s been in the program for three years now, he’s not some raw teenager who’s not yet had fair chance to develop.

If anything, his prospects for playing time look even worse in the future with guards like Sharpe, Wallace, Clarke and Fredrick soon joining us.

He quit on the the team. Refused to answer the call. Cal should have put him on the road. He is unworthy of the Kentucky uniform.

I like Allen, but I'm not so sure he can shoot.

He's now 6/32 from three. That's a pretty significant sample size, and 19% from three on 32 attempts means he's a pretty mediocre shooter.

I hope Sharpe gets all of his minutes. Allen offers us nothing at this point except a bunch of unwarranted fan expectation.

By college standards, he's just not a very good basketball player.

No he didn’t but just keep repeating that nonsense. Cal was ok with him not going but you don‘t want to accept that. You have made your dislike on Allen well known.

He's still a freshman. One red shirt, one year that didn't count. We'll see what he decides and what he becomes. He can still figure it out, hopefully

Remove Dontae Allen from the roster and UK is a 36% three point shooting team.

His shooting drags us down over 2% points from three.

Lol. Told you some of you wouldn't like it. Please show me where I blamed the coach.

I'll wait right here on your response....

You must be reading comprehensive challenged. No where in my post did I mention Cal.

I actually said I would leave it up to each individual to figure that out.

But to say he hasn't lost confidence and it has totally affected his shooting is just closing your eyes and ears to the truth.

It is very evident you were referring to Cal. Nice try though.

That’s true, it’s not like we have much problems finding great guards usually. Some may not pan out but we get them.

At what point can we stop calling it a slump and admit the truth? The word “slump” implies a deviation from the norm. But, for Allen, bad shooting has been the norm and good shooting the deviation.

He’s been in the program for nearly three years now (counting his redshirt year). During that time, he’s had two really good shooting games (both against Mississippi State), but shot poorly in nearly all the rest of his games. That doesn’t describe a slump, instead it just describes a poor shooter.

We did the same thing here with guys like Jon Hood and Josh Carrier. Posters kept insisting they were just in a slump …well, turned out to be four year slumps that never ended.
It really is hard to argue with the numbers, though I'd like to hold out hope. For his sake, I hope he has a breakout game and makes a bunch of threes. Also, I'm glad he's decided to stick around. He's gonna make some bank at UK whether he makes another shot or not.

I will say this, though. The folks who are completely irrational about Allen because he's the home state kid pretty much don't have any reason to complain at this point. He got over 10 minutes today. He took 4 three pointers, all good looks. He missed them all. There's not much more to say. When you see what Kellan Grady did today, it's clear what a pure shooter looks like. He's now up to 50% from three. Right on his heels is TyTy, shooting 41.3%. There's no further reason to complain.
