I have more of a chance of playing at UK than Duren does.

Sidenote: I'm in my mid-30s and haven't picked up a basketball in years

When are they supposed to vote on if kids can get endorsements ?
Earliest I heard was 2022 for Kentucky. They drafted the bill back in 2019 and Kentucky legislators were some of the first to make a play for the likeness element. I know California's is set for 2023.

Cal is letting Duren visit for some reason.....trying at least I guess....No point imo
Duren was a heavy UK lean coming up and even as recent as last year was seen as a UK vs G-League battle until Michigan made a move. That was also during the debacle that was Justus recruiting---now they are going to down swinging. Thing about this visit--what do you have to lose? You get to meet with him/his camp in June, get feel for what they are planning on doing and if he gives the impression he's not going to college-you can start live period in July focusing on other options.

This is Kentucky--the days of being little b**ches ended when the clown took his act to Tempe. No more do you like UK--check Y or N and get back to me--but it's okay if you don't like us.

This jibes with what I heard back when Antigua and Coleman were hired. It gave fresh life to the recruitment.

Joel Justus would’ve gotten prison raped by michigan’s staff if he didn’t get fired. Now with the staff we have it’s vice versa.
The program has an aggressive approach but most importantly an extensive amount of people who in the words of Orlando Antigua help them get "tomorrow's news yesterday". Justus was gifted a position he didn't earn and he didn't have any connections to the right people so he wasted time and would not even bother recruiting some guys who this staff would deem as top priorities. He liked certain types of players and an "easy" recruitment. Often didn't have backstory or the balls to speak to people which leads to mistakes/roster turnover. For example:

Justus story I heard recently regarding Johnny Juzang from someone who works at Johnny Juzang's HS. Said Johnny never wanted to go to UK--it was Maxie pushing it for clout/attention. So when Cal mentioned how he was "homesick" and wanted to be "home" it was 100% true and Cal had to be pissed that the background info wasn't done to know this--all that was needed was to ask people at Harvard Westlake and you'd have gotten that first hand from the Basketball Coaching Staff to teachers, to students. But Golden Boy was so giddy that Maxie wanted in he pushed for it--and while Juzang was part of a successful team--he had one foot out the door the minute he stepped on campus. That is wasting time at a program like UK. Juzang could've started every game and he was going to be back in LA. These mistakes cannot happen and were happening far too often.

I mean I get it....when a guy says he needs to be wowed by a college...sounds like he's already decided.
Turn these killers lose Cal and let them do their thing.

You literally have nothing to lose. If players were forced to go to college, this would be UK vs Michigan with UK coming on strong after having a huge lead prior to Juwan Howard going to Ann Arbor. If you notice the June visits are made up right now of guys who will be priorities for G-League-so you find out more about them/their thinking and when July hits-we'll know quickly if UK feels they have a chance or move on to other guys. It's a smart strategy and well planned.

do you think we can get Duren? We really need a guy like him to get the swagger back.

If he goes to college, I really like UK's chances. I don't know enough about NBL obviously and G-League, we'll see how that goes, but we do know he's visiting and that UK has invested a lot of time building the background relationship with him/his camp. This could return to what was being talked of this time last yr--UK vs G-League.

If we get him it’ll be the biggest recruit we’ve gotten since KAT.

Probably true, but Jamal Murray and De’Aaron Fox were up there.
Interesting thing with the talent of '22 class-you land Duren, you could get a Fox/Monk like tandem on the wings if you get Sharpe and anyone else they are after-not in terms of speed in case of Fox, but talent/high end explosive scoring with several options. Can't emphasize enough how great the '22 class is going to be no matter what--but if they get the top guys they are after........this will be special group.

George and Sharpe wing duo. With Duren and Livley in the front court....man. Aye Daffy will be ready.

Lively is an unreal talent. For those comparing him to WCS-Lively II is far more advanced entering his SR year of HS then WCS was entering college. This is a Top 5 pick if he comes to Lexington.
Do you think we can get him? I think we can. Duke and UNC aren’t really threats.

They are contenders--specifically Duke because he attends Westtown where Cam Reddish went to HS and Mo Bamba as well.

But I feel UK has a great opportunity--specifically now they have a great staff in place to recruit. I'm more excited/confident about recruiting due to the new staff and what they've already shown/done (Collins/Washington were due to them) and what they have said is a breath of fresh air. O is a shark. Chin is a shark. Lucas is a Baby Shark.

Do you say Lucas is a baby shark just based on his youth and not being as experienced as the other guys? I do remember you saying you thought highly of him and were happy with his hiring.

Just his age--I'm very high on Jai Lucas but he's a baby compared to rest of staff who aren't geezers or anything but just older and more seasoned.

reading Ralph’s posts makes you wonder what in the hell Cal was thinking with Justus. I mean Cal had to see what was going on. Weird.
I'd put it this way-there were a lot of people in industry talking up Justus--all of which had a chance to hire him once Cal went in another direction. He ended up working at a place where Bobby Hurley could very well be fired if he doesn't produce this year. Cal is loyal so he wanted to make it work and tried to make it work, but when it effects overall product, changes weren't just something you could think of passively, they became necessity.

If Cal thought it was totally pointless he wouldn’t do it. Even if it’s 90/10 that he goes pro, it’s worth giving a visit to a guy like Duren.
Is it though, how many times is UK going to waste effort on guys that aren’t coming here?

Hardy was never playing college basketball, Cade’s brother had already been paid, Paolo was probably walking around on our campus in gear he bought with his Duke checks.
