Yes, Mark Few is the type of guy who can come in at the last minute and take any player he wants from Cal. We can spend our whole lives recruiting a kid and at the end of the day, if Few wants him, he’ll get him. If Gonzaga wants him, they’ll get him. Don’t ever get that confused. Be appreciative every time they don’t come in and get Cal's guy. Don’t accuse them of cheating when they do.

Welp if you’re on the “Cal has to change” train as most are, you couldn’t have asked for a bigger smack to his face to wake him up:
- Embarrassingly bad season
- Mockery from NBA scouts
- Two Top 10 busts - one who was too big of a ***** to even play the season
- Getting dinged by his top recruits by Duke, G-League and Gonzaga
- New Coaching King in the SEC
- Loss of trust from BBN

Cal can F off off to Austin for all I care... I just worry that Toast will hire the preacher from Southeast Christian off Blankenbaker for the HC position.

The only problem I'd have with Cal leaving right now is that there aren't really any true proven great coaches out there. You have your legends (Cal, Roy, K, Self, Pitino, etc) but they're not realistic. Few is going nowhere. If Cal ever left, you'd have to throw the bank at Stevens or God forbid, Billy D again.
There are plenty of really good up and comers, but do you take a chance on one of them? Sure there is a chance that an Oats, Beard, Mike White, or hell even Mark Pope could kill it here. There is also a chance that they'd get swallowed whole and completely **** the bed. "Kentucky isn't for everyone" doesn't just apply to recruits.

Actually think there are a lot of good coaches out there right now, just not a no-brainer who will both fit here and definitely come here.
Back in the day, Cal was always hanging there waiting if Mitch grew a sack.
Now- there’s Holtman who I’m not sure at all is good enough.

I agree that Mike White is **** but Maggie always mentioned on the show that Mitch once had him on a short list a few years ago. I agree 100% on Pearl. I don't think they would ever entertain the idea but he is one guy I think would crush it here. He has the mentality to soak in everything this program has to offer. He just never had the chance to run a major program. Sure it's his own fault, but just like Cal, I have no doubt he was shady as hell at prior stops but he wouldn't need to cheat here. Perfect fit.

Coming off of Cal and a wildly panned, archaic offensive philosophy, I think you have to shake the NBA tree a little first and see what falls out. Can you talk Vogel from being a LeBron bad mood away from unemployed to come lead his alma mater? Can Spo get Riley's blessing after a long run in MIA to try to win in college too? Stevens isn't coming for us if he passed on IU. If one of those names can bring some juice, maybe you try that route. The money would certainly justify the move.

Oats, holtman, musselman, pearl. Big drop off after #3 in my opinion. All have P5 success. None have won a title which is key, gotta have that hunger to get #1.
If Cal to Texas is the play, what incredible foresight he had to claim Covid and avoid their remaining players and boosters seeing him coach against them firsthand.

If Cal isn't willing to go back to his shadier days, mix up his NBA2K offense and modernize it then just get someone who will so watching the Cayuts isn't such a GD chore like this past season. Winning cures most everything with CBB. If Bruce Pearl is the answer then I can't imagine he's off-limits, or anyone not currently under FBI investigation or a #metoo'er. Are these guys playing school or f'ing basketball? Win or hit the bricks and next man up. Just make it so this past season never, ever happens again.
