I hope the team wins today, but I just dont see it happening bc of how terrible and embarrassing they have been so far.
Most people I think are bracing for another brutal L. And that isn't a fun way to go into a game. Most people who say they aren't into the Cats anymore are full of ****. Except the ones who say that due to political reasons. They are just batshit crazy.
I think his main point was the new TV contract will move 1 football game and 2 basketball games to ESPN+. It will be the worst games of the year on streaming. Plus the school will get to pick their kickoff time for the ESPN+ game.
I don't think that is Barnhart's fault.
Mags seems to really want Meeetch to come on KSR and talk to the fans. I don't think that is happening anytime soon.
I’m not full of ****, but my interest in the Cats has wained. As has my interest in pro football, NBA, etc. It’s not political either. Getting out of the sports cycle during Covid decreased my overall interest in it, and I assume I’m not unique in that regard.
So basically ESPN’s long term plan is to control the rights to college football and make every game Pay Per View? So basically the boxing model that made everybody not give a **** about boxing except the true diehards?
Jones point was that UK seems to assume that fan engagement is going to instantly bounce back as soon as COVID restrictions are over and that people will pack Rupp and Commonwealth.
I don't know that he was specifically griping about Barnhart's response COVID but instead making the point that UK Athletics has been way too arrogant for way too long about assuming that the fans will accept any decision made and that Barnhart not addressing UK fans during all the COVID stuff is just the latest example.
It increasingly is not true that BBN will go along with any decision UK Athletics makes. Tailgating at football games took a nosedive after the stadium renovation. Here on GYERO, it is a constant refrain that there is literally no concern given to making Billy Joe Wildcat happy. Et cetera.
I found it interesting that Jones was willing to openly call Barnhart out. I really don't give two single ***** about hearing what Barnhart has to say about anything if he works for the fans for a change. But I did like Jones' point that UK damn sure better be concerned about its fans for a change and that COVID is just the latest reason for fans to increasingly tune out and find other things to do.

-priorities evolve as folks grow up/age. Started with having little kids...i played rugby/watched cfb/drank every Saturday, so Sunday belonged to the fam(dropped nfl). Then, kids activities/sports made me busy so ukbb only "matters" for big games/march madness. CFB is still my jam...but ive missed games for other obligations more and more lately. Havent watched NBA since HS.
If the game starts to go south there's a Saved by the Bell marathon on.
UK was doing that before covid and it's going to be a struggle to get fans back in seats after. Was that his point? Because that makes me sense.
