Seems like you keep arguing against an opponent that doesn't exist. He (Brax) just said teachers jobs got tougher this year, and most would agree.

Serious question, what does the data say about high school aged school opening and transmission rates? Isn't there like an age where the risk for spread increases?

Everyone agrees (except trolls). Everyone also agrees that teachers have a sweet, sweet gig compared to other professions. Everyone also agrees that teachers are some of the best people in the world but they, as a profession, do a whooooooole lot of bitching for a sweet gig. Part of the reason they have such a sweet gig is that their unions do so much bitching, so whatever.

Keeping schools closed has nothing to do with teachers and everything to do with the embarrassment we have of a governor who was elected as a direct result of the teachers unions getting pissed at Bevin (who, by the f***ing way, actually tried to fund their pensions unlike every f***ing democratic governor in memory.)

Keep up.

I was with you until the smarmy "keep up". Again, I was just pointing out that nothing Brax said was political in his original post. I get that you all are pissed (I don't live in KY), but sometimes you're too eager to apply these counterpoints where no one was saying anything to the contrary in the first place.

Also, maybe us lawyers should unionize.

What do you mean? The info is out there. WHO, CDC, Pediatricians all say schools should be open. Every developed country in the world has schools open regardless of their "cases omgz". We've had schools all across the south and private schools across the country open for 6 months. There's only 1 reason why teachers don't feel safe and they're closed.

From the most liberal rag and most liberal guy.

Trump picked schools and rather than admit he was right about anything liberal leaders dug in and used our kids as pawns to defeat Trump. I'm sorry you all can't see that.

The Times is one of the finest newspapers on Earth and only a “liberal rag” to dipshits who are dumb enough to get the CONSPIRACY THEORY-ELIGIBLE feed from Facebook.

Teachers with NTI and the Teachers Union are two separate topics.

the Covid protocols, school closure, public health policy are maddening, hypocritical, and nonsensical...definitely being used as a political tool by the democrat party. Science is clear that school-age children aren’t dropping dead or spreading virus. This is a power and money grab in the stimulus deals. This is not debatable.

However, ironically the teachers Union have put the TEACHER in an untenable situation where their job is currently IMPOSSIBLE to do. Believe me. I’m a conservative dude who’s chided my wife about the cushy job, hours, summer and benefits I’d dream of as an architect who commutes 4 hours a day and works 50 in the office.

the teachers and kids are suffering for a reason not supported by science. My kid won’t be seven ever again and this ******** must end. This country wouldn’t accept lockdowns ten years ago... now we are all pussies and are so easily manipulated by our elite class.

Lol, the NYT isn't a liberal rag. Find me the last pro-conservative article they've published. That's great. What else you got over there? I guess Kristof is an independent too?

Btw, NYT is the only paper I have a subscription for news. Because I like to listen opposing views.

I don't think it's political for most people involved with education, just a problem that has no good solution. I know Dawn wants to be back at school. Badly. NTI is a pain in the *** for all parties involved. But we've also known people who have gotten sick or died, so we're not really sure what the right answer is.

The right answer is to go back to in person schooling. If you’re a an at risk teacher and you don’t want to, I’m 100% certain that respective school would be ok with that and allow to you do some form of zoom teaching. Also, if you’re a parent that doesn’t want to send your kid in, then let them stay at home and you can parent teach or explore some NTI option.

Please show me the contact tracing data that shows kids and or teachers getting this thing at school. Like a lot of liberal ideologies, it’s sounds good theory but isn’t practical. I really feel for the inner city kids at home all day while both parents are at work bc they have no choice or the kids whose only form of proper nourishment is at school. Life is full of tough decisions. The tough decision is to open back up schools.

You really need to stick to chiding Herro, Roy, K, and any other BS takes you can dig up on hoops.

To claim the NYT isn't a liberal rag, you really need to have your head in the sand.

Hilarious.

It is 100% political when your royal highness in Frankfort is going to court to prevent schools from opening. It is 100% political when the KEA comes out and praises Beshear's orders.

If it weren't political and/or you had "most people involved with education" that wanted to be back at school, you would see them on the steps of Andy's house demanding such...........ya know, like they did w/ Bevin. Oh wait....that wasn't political either, right?

The right answer is obvious when you have the data to support opening schools.....that can't be disputed. We all know people who have suffered or perished and this has happened in all facets of life. Why do teachers get a break when the 75 yr old Kroger cashier is working 40 hrs a week in an environment that is light years more dangerous than a classroom.
