~Travel baseball at 6 and 8....are you serious? They won't want to pick up a glove in a couple of years.
Depends on the kid. The love my oldest has for it keeps getting stronger and stronger. He’s like Rax’s kids.....except on the mound rather than in the batters box.

Now my youngest? Yeah, he’d quit/get burnt out if we had him in travel ball. He’s good for about half the rec league season.

Condolences to your pup's empty noots, catlanta.

Moving is absolutely atrocious in the moment but what an incredible relief when it's done. Stress levels dropped about 75% after I dropped the truck off. Related, why do all UHaul places look like the set piece of a horror flick?

The Dawn Gentry entry removing her from the bench...l m a oooo. I see Judge Gentry learned about the calculator app to hide spicy photos but LEFT IT ACCESSIBLE TO HER KID.

Monday tunes, covers edition:

Warren Haynes--Pretzel Logic (live)
Christian McBride--Walking on the Moon
Lorde--Everybody Wants to Rule the World
Marc Broussard--Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)
In This Moment--In the Air Tonight

Good Afternoon:

:: Had to throw down for the MIL's birthday on Sunday. She's a vegetarian, so I got to run through a good chunk of the CSA inventory. Hence, all the salads and fresh salsa I posted the other day.

:: I like what cooking a vegetarian menu does for my kitchen game. A different menu approach opens my mind up for new ideas. I also get in a lot of great knife work plowing through all the produce. Since I'm not in my corporate kitchen or restaurant kitchens as often it's nice having little projects that keep up my chops.

:: I put a bulgogi marinade on some pork tenderloins with the intent of grilling them. As I was getting the deck ready for the outdoor feast saw my smoker and got to thinking that pork tenderloins were pretty small and wouldn't take long to smoke. Since it was early, I had time to kill, and some extra wood chips lying around I fired it up.

:: WOOOOOWWW! What a phenomenal flavor. The pork tenderloins took on a gorgeous ham-like smoky color. Didn't use much in the way of resources either. Only about a two hour smoke to get those up to 140 and pull them.

:: Have dinner plans for the leftovers...

- Smoked Bulgogi Pork Tenderloin
- Prosciutto
- Cornishons
- Gochujang Mayo
- Sriracha Mustard
- Tillamook White Cheddar
- Toasted Baguette

:: What I remember from the peak John Thompson Era Georgetown years. Aside from killer basketball, you were SOMEBODY if you were able to score any Hoya Starter gear. Those jackets were dope when Hoya Paranoia was in its prime.

My beagle turns 14 in a few weeks. He’s decided to start peeing inside the house. Not in an fit of incontinence, but rather in a move of just not giving a F. Practically waits for someone to see him before squatting down in the middle of the kitchen, eyeballing you the whole time.

You just can’t really tell old people what to do.
Your dog sounds GYERO as hell tbh

The pup begins his "aqua therapy" this evening to combat is rapidly worsening arthritis. At this point I need to just switch my direct deposit right to various veterinary services. But i'll spend whatever if it makes his last little bit as comfortable as possible.

Alabama sports radio mentioning that UK could have an advantage this season bc they can run a number of offenses and have shown they can adjust on the fly. So if covid hits your QB room- a lot of schools are basically more f'ed than UK would be. Hadnt actually thought about that angle and i doubt any team will get wiped out of an entire position- but it does emphasize that our staff has done really well with personnel changes when they are forced to.

DJ and Rahm seem like two complete meatheads but they put on a good show to end that tournament. Dropping a double breaker or a 60 footer >>> hitting it 350 off the tee.

A guy I run with in the mornings misstepped a curb today and I could hear his ankle snap beside me. The sound just about made me sick to my stomach. I've broken a number of bones but that just looked awful/more painful than anything.

Getting calls today because there is an organized protest on campus, but the university has already forced a shut down of all student events and programs outside of the classroom. At this point I am able to accurately predict the calls/complaints we are going to get on a daily basis.

Keep my head down, go to work, pay my mortgage, repeat. Thats my strategy until I can retire in 2065.

McCaffery has to be everyone’s first pick in fantasy football correct? Is there anyone else in close consideration?

Damn. My scar just started to itch. What really sucks is that it will be a LONG time before he'll be able to run again. Which is a shame since it seems like it was something he enjoyed. My final physical therapy appointment was last week. My PT said I was finally able to give intermittent jogging a try...nearly nine months later. Your friend is a lot healthier than me since he's a runner and likely in way better shape than I was when I broke my ankle/tibia. Here's to hoping he heals quicker than me.

I don’t do travel ball, but I also understand why some people do. We are fortunate to have a good little league (cal Ripken) in my hometown and we play that for Rec and do all stars in the summer. We did “travel” this year with our All star teams just to give them the opportunity to play since covid canceled our league season. But there are a lot of places (eastern ky) where leagues are just not an option, so the really good players all do travel. Some of those eastern ky teams are LOADED. So to each their own. We will probably wait and do travel once our boys age out of the league (13 yrs old).

Having said that, my oldest was asked to play on a one-off team in a tourney down in Panama City this December. We were on the fence about it but he was stoked so we’re gonna do it. First practice was yesterday. Team has kids from all over ky and maybe one from Ohio. Some studs out there. If all goes well I’ll be spending NYE on the beach, drinking some michy ultra and watching my son mash baseballs

I still haven’t gotten a proper haircut since February. The mullet is really taking shape now. My wife and kids are absolutely humiliated by my appearance and it’s glorious. I may cut it soon, but for now I’m going to enjoy the way the breeze catches it just right as it basks in the warm summer air.

I know we all joke about “have a coke and enjoy” but I’m of the belief that the occasional ice cold Coca-Cola is actually great for the mind and body.

How common is it to break your ankle on a misstep on a run? I ask as I've done a misstep on a curb about three times in the last few months. Is it a stress thing or what?

We are getting a director's cut for the 35th anniversary of Rocky IV so there is some good coming in 2020. But evidently Stallone is removing Paulie's robot completely from the movie.

I'd imagine those who were harassing Boseman about his appearance earlier this year on twitter are feeling like giant turds right now. Then again they are horrible human beings and probably feel nothing at all.

lol @ the Sixers and their fan base. Watching them implode because "The Process" has been essentially for nothing is great and couldn't happen to a more deserving fan base.

There should be an age limit on making comments on social media. Over 60? Sorry we respect our elders but we don't want to hear from you anymore thanks.

Welcome JAI!

Turn 42 tomorrow and I just don't give a **** about it.

Those were the bball trips I'll never forget. Driving down listening to baseball tunes on repeat, going bonkers getting closer and closer and the first whiff of salt air. It's what I would imagine arriving at The Show is for a teenager. You might as well invest in a timeshare because once you crack that can of worms, he's going to have it circled on the calendar before they announce the tournaments going forward.

-Really thinking about just mailing it in this week. Knock some stuff out around the yard. A few house projects. Just lean into what appears to be a banner Labor Day weekend weather wise. Marcus.

-Taylorsville Lake yesterday with a rival Dad and group of little girls. It's been awhile but that's a nice little lake, man. No development. Clean water. Short distance to Louisville. Small of course but for a little tubing and just get out on some water it works well.

-Created a K sticker for the car. Small batch so we'll see how it turns out. Some wildcat friends have made reservations for theirs (ordered 20).

-Refi closed. 4.12% --> 2.9%. Just need this sucker paid off before I can fall down the basement stairs with dignity.

Rocky V makes a lot more sense of being awful knowing how completely f'd up Tommy Morrison was.

And couldn't remember if he was the one shooting roids into his dick but found this in the search.

O]ne time, he was doing an ESPN interview at our house, and he was talking to the reporter there and kind of like bragging that he knew about it since ’89, and he was kind of laughing about it. And I kept telling him to shut his mouth and he just kept on, and so I went into the other room and called [Tommy’s lawyer,] Stuart Campbell. And I’m like, he’s giving — he’s telling this guy off the record that he’s known since 1989,1 said, you need to shut him up from saying stuff like that.

And so Stuart got on the phone and said, you know, you’re opening yourself up to a lot of lawsuits by telling people that you knew in ’89, you know, all the women you slept with, you could open yourself up to a lot o f lawsuits. When Tom heard that, he — he quit saying it, at least, to that reporter, but he kept telling other people.
