Partial to 2006 Georgia as my dark horse big victory. Smacking Matt Stafford around. Fun day.

-yep. I've told this story before but its worth retelling:

Mom died on that Friday (was in hospice...so no shock). Saturday morning went with Dad/bro/sis to sort out funeral arrangements/buy flowers and such. Listened on radio between funeral home/caterer/florist...as things got wrapped up the 1st half was ending and we were *in it*. Called my nephew who was going to school in Richmond at the time and told him to pop by my house grab tix and meet me at the stadium so we could watch the second half...hell of a win.

^sport is cathartic gang. The cats won one for us that day and it helped me through the tasks at hand.

But going to Fayetteville and knocking off McFadden, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis was quite the win.

They were the only other team to beat LSU that year. So we beat the national champions and we beat the other team that beat them on their home field. In my mind, that's better than anything UofL has accomplished in football. That's including beating chump *** Wake in the Orange Bowl.

Pic, as us good friends and fellow Buckeye supporters call Piecoro, is a good dude.

He used to come to the bar every Friday night with the Fox Sports crew after home Reds game.

I saw him a few months back at a celebration of life party for a Head First bartender who succumbed to cancer.

I always get a kick out of his chuckles and comments as Leach is calling big TDs.

* Top 5 instrumentals on CMD's Spotify playlist:
  1. Chameleon - Herbie Hancock (listening to this one right as I type)
  2. Blue in Green - Miles Davis
  3. A Love Supreme (Acknowledgement) - John Coltrane
  4. Blue Rondo a la Turk - Dave Brubeck
  5. Riviera Paradise - SRV
* Top 5 national parks:
  1. Yosemite
  2. Yellowstone
  3. Denali
  4. Acadia
  5. Arches
* Top 5 national parks yet to visit:
  1. Bryce Canyon
  2. Glacier
  3. Zion
  4. Hawaii Volcanoes
  5. Crater Lake

* 4, 3, 2, 1

* It's going to be interesting to see what becomes of the Democratic Party. I've never seen them this disjointed. The only thing that unites them is their hatred of Trump. That may be enough to win in November, but it's not much of a long-term policy. Lucky for them, establishment Republicans are spineless and largely incompetent.

* JCPS already having technology problems. Basically several Zoom meetings got hacked with profanity and adult videos. I can't see NTI lasting past the initial 6 weeks. It's insane, and unnecessary. Why can't teachers wear face shields and masks if they're that concerned about the virus? Seems a lot simpler than trying to do it virtually.

* Watched "Top Gun" with the chilluns and thought of Doc every time Iceman popped up on the screen, particularly the chomp. Damn it.

* Evidently the ACC Network is having a LAMAR marathon on Saturday while we're doing our fantasy draft. Pretty sure the Heisman-pose fumble game won't be featured. Pretty much decided I'm drafting Bowden late in the draft, as long as I can get him cheap. Just have a feeling that dude will make an impact. No idea how, but I want to be the beneficiary when it happens.

-Chocolate ice cream is the GOAT. Especially chocolate chocolate chip made into a milkshake with whole chocolate milk.

My go to Graeter’s order is a scoop of chocolate chocolate chip and a scoop of strawberry (preferably chip if they have it).

I don’t care for Sundae’s. And I certainly wouldn’t put vanilla ice cream at the top.

-Official UK station. Yay! Let me know if you want to sponsor BBN Tonight.

-I’m currently picking my cat up from the vet and looking at that patio space between Drake’s and Wild Eggs that UKO referenced. It is nice. What are restaurants going to do when it gets cold out? Mark me down as concerned.

-SAE, I have plans to join the Crafts and Palumbos at the UGA game. I’ll be 39 weeks + 1 day pregnant. I see no issues.

Being at both LSU and UL in 07 I’d say it’s tough to say which was loudest between Stevie got Loose or that 2nd, 3rd down leading into the T/O and the 4th Down stops by that defense.

I too would give the nod to Stevie for the noise pop/celebration.........I was in such disbelief of that LSU win I don’t even remember screaming if I’m honest.

Don’t try to go around me with that billboard crap.

Maybe a GYERO can’t afford the title sponsorship, but we can buy some :30 second spots.

Was at the Bama game. A guy with his son behind me got on my last nerve. I wanted to jump up and beat the dog **** out of him. "Shaun Alexander for 8 yards." "Shaun Alexander for 12 yards" all effin night. Right before the BFG his son asked "dad can I have the camera to take a picture ?" The dad replied "no I only have one left and want to take a picture of the scoreboard." Well, when we won, I turned to him and with a **** eating grin said "Sir, if you don't mind, can I give you my address so that you could mail me a picture of the scoreboard, i would love to have one." No answer just a "come on son lets go."

I also was at the Indiana game to witness the Cats huge 3-0 win. I drove thru no less then 3 tornado warnings, had a flat tire in the hell hole that is Muhlenburg Co. on a Saturday with nothing open. Absolute miserable drive. Sat in a monsoon of a rain storm to watch that **** fest. Well at least they won, would have really sucked driving home with the L. On the way home, had to piss like a Russian race horse, so i pull off a exit. then to find out it was a "exit only", so i drove back down the wrong way to get back on the parkway, very lucky to not cap that road trip to forget off with a DUI.

There was one in downtown Louisville pre-Covid. Kind of near the Yum Center.

That milkshake sounds way too strong. I had a malt from Graeters today before a haircut. I’m a vanilla plus chocolate syrup guy plus white milk guy.

Chocolate on chocolate on chocolate sounds too rich.

WARNING - MAY SEEM POLITICAL - FEEL FREE TO SCROLL DOWN

"What are restaurants going to do when it gets cold out? Mark me down as concerned."

:: They are screwed.

:: Some form of relief that covers rent and utilities focused on independent restaurants is sorely needed. Expanded outdoor dining, 50% capacity and take out are barely keeping the lights on as is. If they don't get it they're done.

:: Look, everyone knows that the restaurant business is not what you want to get into if you're looking to make a windfall. Most everyone I come across are entrepreneurs not unlike a few I know from this thread. The problem is when independent restaurants eventually die, which is the tack they're on now, the local culinary identity within a community dies as well.

- That off the radar sports bar with dope wings and a thousand TV's...Gone

- That wodie taco and burrito joint that makes their own tortillas...Gone

- That Pho Shop that descended from Heaven into a strip mall...Gone

- Your morning after brunch spot with the best biscuits and gravy...Gone

- Your favorite Neapolitan style pizza joint that jumped through the certification hoops...Gone

:: Even some of the local independent superstars that have three to five different concepts or locations they'll need help too. Long before I got my **** together I made a pretty damned good living when I moved to the front of the house and worked there for a decade. A lot of people similar to the me of my youth are going to be out of a job and they're going to be in a position to siphon off the system at as high or higher rates when COVID shut everything down initially. It makes more sense to me to dedicate dollars to independent entrepreneurs and give them the chance to support the millions that will be out of work once winter hits.

:: Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Fire away.

F U SAE for speaking on that game without me. At any point.

All the notable “I’ll never go to PJCS again”‘ supposed Superfans in this thread and that’s the respect I get? Nevermind the free tickets.

Controversial take from a guy who until March was always on the road eating out 4 nights a week: the uniqueness of that “local” restaurant wore off a long time ago. With the internet, the increase in travel, and just more awareness of food trends, there isn’t anything that special left anymore. Don’t get me wrong, overall quality is up. But we could probably lose half of the restaurant out there and not really miss anything.

fylm’s post was so vanilla and non-controversial, yet here we are

I think I posted in the corona thread “what the hell is the goal?” Like 3 weeks ago. Anyone? We just in this pergatory from hell the rest of the year just cause?

Props to the NBA for solving our issues.

Im going to Wilmington, NC for Labor Day. I’m incredibly excited to stop the monotony.

Jeni’s is awful. I don’t want goat cheese and brambleberry ice cream or salt and pepper ice cream or whatever the hell awful flavors they serve. I just want flavors that actually taste good. I don’t eat ice cream often enough to need a unique flavor. Frozen yogurt can suck it too.

Being an adult sucks. Just the same effing week on repeat month after month. Good lord it’s easy to get in a rut

Mine was a HoF take. But you enjoy your Brussel sprouts, pork belly and truffle fries that 90% of these local trend-setting local restaurants serve. Wash it down with a craft cocktail made by a mixologist. And don’t forget to sign your name as “Basic *****” when you get your check.

Learn local food. Not every local place is a gastropub.

It's heartbreaking and you wonder why I'm on here screaming like a lunatic 12 hours a day. The restaurant industry has been scapegoats for far too much based on one stupid study from one obscure restaurant in f*cking China. I'm sure that **** is fake as everything else that comes from that **** hole. 300 local places already gone because of that. Needless suffering and they won't get a bailout.

Umm, isn’t KY the cradle of corporate fast food?

Not sure if you all had your fill of decent food yet.

I live in one of the greatest culinary cities in America. Within a short walk, I can get amazing Ethiopian, Mediterranean (from a Pakistani owned gas station), Cuban, Neopolitan pizza, po boys, Jewish deli, oysters, seafood, the inventor of bbq shrimp, an 80 year old steakhouse, Spanish, Israeli, about 8 different James Beard finalists, a vegan bakery, a vegan soul food joint, Cajun, classed up burgers, and so many more I can’t list them all. All locally owned, and a huge part of the culture of this area. And because the lass and I go out to eat a lot, we can walk in every single one and feel right at home, typically having a friendship with the owner/GM/bartender/etc.

Losing these local businesses that are vital to our economy and identity is absolutely devastating. Heart breaking.

In other words — go F yourself, Wayne.

- The 97 Bama game was actually the first time I really paid attention to UK football. Was a sophomore in high school. Growing up, when I asked my parents about UK football, they’d just say, “don’t worry about it.” I get that, now.

- Bought a handle of Old Forester Bonded today for manhattans while we grilled out. I’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and regular Woodford in a blind tasting. I know Woodford sticks to their story that they redistill the distillate they truck in from Louisville several times in their pot stills. And maybe once that was true, but I’m sorry.

At this stage I’m pretty sure Woodford is just 90 proof standard Old Forester, with barrel selection and maybe a little bit more age being the only difference. Woodford is producing way too much volume for that stuff to be going through copper pot stills once, let alone several times. Not to mention the cost of trucking all that juice from the BF plant in Louisville to Woodford County, and then back to Louisville to be bottled/distributed.

- Surprised my wife with a new ******** that arrived in the mail today. I’m not a kinky guy or anything, but it seemed like a nice thing to do. This thing is apparently the Range Rover of personal recreational devices. $170, but I got 20% off as a first time customer.

- Was taking a deposition via zoom this week, and the old boy plaintiff just began packing a can of grizzly wintergreen right in the middle of it. Threw a gigantic pinch in while looking me right in the eye. I’m going to get summary judgment against him, but respect to him still.

- Just salted three pounds of ribeyes and put them on a rack in the fridge. Can’t wait until 6:00 tomorrow. 7 more hours of depositions between then and now. Good for revenue, but pisses me off that it f**ks up my regular Friday lunch plans at Montoya’s.

- I’d be the first to admit that many of my life skills are average, but I have two legitimate plus plus pitches - skipping stones, and eating hot ****. If anyone wants to take me on, please let me know. I’d love to take your money.

- Are you smoking oxycontin in my motorcoach?
