He's not even 5 yet. I'll wait until he gets a little older before I entertain hiring hitting coaches. It's mostly him just being a kid and being goofy which is fine.
I get it, I was just giving some options if/when y’all are ever wanting to do that. I played baseball all through high school but learned more from these youth coaches than anyone who coached me in hs.
On the other side, it’s time consuming and expensive obviously so I totally get it and respect those that don’t want to deal with it or choose to do everything themselves.
My stepson isn’t that naturally gifted with baseball skills so hooking him up with an instructor helped him along the way by giving him confidence and a routine to stick to. And by sticking to the routine and outworking people he’s overcome the lack of natural ability to have some success.
We never had to drag him to a lesson though he always wanted to go. I do think dragging a kid to lessons or making them practice when they don’t want to isn’t right and something I learned with him fortunately for both of us early enough so he didn’t burn out.

KPP is nice because it's new... but that's just about the most soulless ballpark I can imagine being built. It's honestly like they tried to make it as cold and unwelcoming as possible.
It’s horrible I hate everything about it from the turf to the stupid rock crap down the baselines to the seating that is flat instead of a more vertical pitch - just like Commonwealth and the Highway noise barriers on the exterior looks cheap
A nice dark brick would look so much better on both facilities

I legitimately hope my children want nothing to do with organized sports and on summer weekends the kids spend all day playing whatever the hell in the neighborhood, dick around at the pool, play pick up b-ball, spotlight at night, etc. while I get to relax. My dad wouldn’t even drive me to basketball practice when it was raining [laughing] Driving to Fort Wayne for batting practice. WTF? What the hell have you adults done

I took hitting lessons when I was in 8th grade and the next series I looked like Juan Gonzalez circa 1992 out there. Completely changed the trajectory of my baseball career. Of course that was the last time my dad sprang for any sort of personalized lessons, but still, I’ll vouch for their effectiveness.

Same. I had a series and it helped after being behind when I left the Fairdale league and moved to Valley Sports. Took just over a season to catch back up. I'm not against it, just not in tee ball. If he really gets into something be it sports, music, art, whatever I'll support it but I'm going to let him have innocent fun for now.

Some people are just born powerful ballstrikers. Instruction can be beneficial in harnessing their god given talents. Injuries from wrestling hampered my progress...but the truth was realized in northwest Florida. Most feared batter in the panhandle circuit.

Yard. All day erryday.

When I was in T-ball the biggest kid on the other team hit a line drive at me, which I obviously missed, and knocked out 5 of my front teeth. Well only 2 fell out but 3 others were knocked loose.

My mom took me to our neighbor, who happened to be my dentist. They were eating supper and his 2 girls, around my age, were completely grossed out. Ole boy was cool as a cucumber, told her to meet him at the office, and he yanked the loose one’s out. Played the next game. End of the year I got some silly medal for it. However, I never had a personal trainer to teach me how to catch a line drive. I mean, after all, I was 5.

I did a similar drill in my backyard with a tree instead of a fence/net. 1,000 times a day. Instant feedback.

*If you can hit, you can hit. Can a coach make an already good hitter better? Yes. Can the best hitting coach make an average hitter great? Nope.

*Welp, another neighborhood restaurant bites the dust. #strongertogether and whatnot, I guess.

Shorts:

- I’m hype for this shortened MLB season. LFG!

- I don’t see the need at all for the Evansville transfer. Give Brooks the room to grow. Kid will flourish. May not be a star but he knows how to play the game.

- I’d prefer Richards but Sarr is a helluva consolation prize, and a more polished interior scorer.

- My Top 2 of the babes in Netflix’s “Too Hot to Handle” all things considered:

1. Irish babe
2. Rhonda

- I absolutely love the attitude and personality of Stoops Kentucky football program. Goes without saying.

- 90s pop culture cannot be topped.

- Got out the baseball cards when visiting the folks for Mother’s Day. Out of what might be worth $$$, flush with Jeter rookie cards- SP, UpperDeck, etc. Quite a few MJs- baseball and basketball. All that said, who knows if they’re worth anything. Guess you have to get everything professionally graded now? Oh well. Fun hobby back in the day.

- Happy we’re opening things back up. Hope that’s the correct decision. From everything I’ve read, I believe it is. All news is like basketball recruiting rumors these days. Try to find somewhat unbiased sources then make your own decision with the info.

- Consistently Stand-the-Test-of-Time Funny Since Introduced to My Life:

1. GYERO
2. The Onion
3. The Andy Griffith Show
4. Dumb & Dumber
5. Calvin & Hobbes

- Corona saved me from an all-out gender reveal. Only family and closest friends got reeled in digitally for 15 minutes or so. Anyone with advice on raising a female human? #girldad tia

-buckle up, chad.

-no matter what advice folks give...we're all figuring it out as we go. Listen to folks that have been down the road and take heed, but every kid is different.

-as our pediatrician told us when prima was a baby: " the fact that you're asking questions (paying attention) means you are ahead of the game. One would assume everyone does that, but apparently not.

As a father of 2 teenage girls(18 and 13):

-girls have a *bunch* of emotions you will never understand. Try not to engage immediately...give them a minute.

^that last sentence is pertinent to life in general, I reckon.

We didn’t find out the gender of our first kid. I, of course being a guy, wanted a boy. By the time my girl was 2 I would’ve been fine having all girls. It is funny how I instinctively treat my boy and girl different. When my daughter cries and is being obnoxious I can’t really get myself to be that mad at her, usually coddle her, etc. When my son is being a ******** I get pissed at him and raise my voice. It’s the exact opposite for my wife.

Theres was a funny bit with Bill Burr about how if youre a dad you try to hug and kiss her all the time so she doesn’t become a *****. And with your son you try to be tough on him so he’s not a huge ***. Pretty much true [laughing]

-Our pets seemed more annoyed a feral 4 year old is climbing the walls 24/7. I'd say they will be looking forward to normal.

-This ain't yo Dad's UK Football. That's for sure. My man crush on Bossmanfat is strong.

-Chad just seems like a good girldad, absolutely no offense intended either, but just seems like his calling. Congrats, again.

-1000% on your Brooks take. He's been a bit forgotten about in this ordeal of an off season but I haven't stopped thinking about his 2nd half @Florida. From a sheepish frosh to clearing out and taking dudes to the rim in the O'Connell Center. He should be able to feast with attention on Sarr, Boston, and Clarke.

-Tried to keep the covid talk to those threads, typically paddock threads drag in the worse, but the main one has a couple solid posters.

-Going to die on the DH hill but I guess they'll be pushing that on all teams as we play regionally. Oh well, sports are fun, and MLB could use a mix up. I just want some new Jomboy narrated ejection videos.

Perfect year to ditch the DH entirely along with inter-league play and the playoffs and go back to pennant winners playing in the World Series.

This has been Brandan Stroud with this week's episode of, "Why Are You Booing Me? I'm Right"

I've seen more Bossman music videos than I have Bossman football plays, and I am pretty confident he will be the baddest mfer in a backfield filled with badass mfers.

New Bossman. New Bossman. (the dude ain't even bad...at all)

-Unpopular take but since seeing him play live, i've enjoyed the Sound and Fury album a lot more. I still can't understand all of what he's even singing- but for whatever reason I keep playing it over and over now.

-Current and former players taking up for the program on social media is far greater than most of our own fans chiming in @ players.

-Bill Burr's podcast is pretty good. Most of the time he starts on a topic then just goes off the rails into something else altogether.

-A good number of our friends have snuck down to the gulf for a few days since things are slowly reopening. Most have said that everything seems somewhat normal, but obviously a bit slower. Restaurants are either still doing take out or set up for dining outside when its possible. Will be interesting on memorial day weekend to see how the mostly local crowds that have played by the rules- mesh with the out of town heathens.

-It's not like we can predict his career arc- but the fact that MJ struggled so much with breaking balls- like most hitters do, probably would've prevented him from actually getting to or contributing in the majors. The difference between lower league and major league pitching is hilarious. He also had an average arm and wasn't great defensively so I don't know where he really would've fit in on a roster. Maybe would've been different had he come up through the ranks as an 18 yr old- but he had a ton of ground to make up. Baseball is about the most unpredictable sport to try and gauge how a career will go.

-My car tags expired while the courthouse was shut down and they weren't processing online renewals- So I got to go down and wait in that line- applaud their consistency but those employees have held the crown as the angriest workforce since the beginning of all vehicle registration

I took a bad hop to the mouth while playing 3rd base in a high school game my senior year the Thursday before I went to UK for merit weekend. I had dark seam marks from the ball on my upper lip and it was swollen to about 3x the normal size. Needless to say, it wasn’t the start to my college career I was looking for. Spent a lot of time at the hotel with my parents.
