Other than the generic Econ 101 talk I have no clue how the oil industry works. I just assume it's a bunch of filthy rich scum bags.
Like 10 years ago some places in Nashville ran out of gas and it created this mass panic in Central KY for some reason and then prices shot up to $4/gallon and people were waiting in line to fill up because they just knew we would run out of gas too. Of course that never happened and gas prices were back down to normal in a couple days but a lot of people had full tanks of overpriced gas to drive around on.
Just kinda reminded me of people today panicking and acting like idiots because of the coronavirus, we live amongst a bunch of morons.

Bought a Blackstone Proseries 36 flat top grill and love it. It will cook everything except ribs or a butt. Smashburgers, hibachi, fahitas and bacon are awesome on it.
Football without fans will be weird, but the audio should be good with hits, trashtalk and whatnot. Just give us some sports as a diversion from this crap please.

A clutch work from home move is to say you have an important call and then go outside and stand behind your vehicle and play on your phone for 30 minutes
On the opposite end of the spectrum is cooking and serving grilled cheese sandwiches for what seems like two hours everyday. I am a prisoner to my own superior grill cheese and these gremlins can’t get enough. (If we had white bread in this house, it may go for 3 hours, IMO.)

I'm in the oil business. Here it is in a nutshell, specifically the upstream part of it. You spend a bunch of money to drill a hole where you've estimated how many barrels of oil you'll be able to pull out of that hole. That's your capital cost. Then it costs money to actually pull the oil out of the hole and get it to the buyer. That's the operational cost. You can survive for a while if you're just covering your operational costs, it's just that no additional holes are going to be dug.
By and large, you can't just "turn off" an oil well like it's a faucet. So all this oil that's come into the market that isn't being consumed has to go somewhere. Right now storage is historically tight and expensive, and that's why the price of oil went negative. As some of tweets mentioned, you may find yourself in a situation where you have to take possession of the oil, but you can't find a tank, railcar or ship to put it in.
The Exxons and Shells of the world are integrated meaning they can take the oil they drill and do stuff with it like make gas, chemicals, etc., but they can't move any of that stuff right now and they're running out of space too. Bottom line, until we reopen up the economy, this is going to be a big problem.

I think this is a US problem as Brent is still north of $20. Again, this has to do with capacity issues within the US, and not the overall world market. The world market is still low historically speaking, but it ain't negative.

Here's the WTI futures... they go positive (for now) next month. Re: Chevron/Exxon - I wouldn't touch these companies with a ten-foot pole right now. I think behavior is going to significantly change when we come out of this. Less business travel, more focus on green.

I think things are great in the US, since we reached an agreement with OPEC to cut production.

I floated that idea of launching a pandemic bread baking podcast (with my podcasting partner, Joe) on March 3rd via text. But, I quickly decided it would be one of the first home activities to be too played out and we wouldn’t get any traction with it.
I’m going to focus on perfecting the egg cream this summer instead. I will have the prime mover advantage in the novice egg cream gourmand podcast space.
